The chickens at the foot of the mountain are nearly all eaten, so in a fit of anger, the Mountain Lord orders the fox to chūjiā—become a monk.
Why become a monk? To make the fox vegetarian, cultivate herself, and cause less trouble.
But the fox mishears it as “chūjià—get married.” She tidies herself up, packs a bundle, and heads off to seek a mountain high king.
Using sweet talk, tricks, and every deceitful method she knows, she finally manages to climb into the king’s bed—but before the bed even warms up, she’s thrown out.
A terrified little mountain demon screamed, nearly losing its soul, “You can’t touch a tiger’s butt!”
