Chapter 148: Sisters Like Lotus Flowers, More Beautiful Than Love Birds

***

“…You really look like, like mom when she was young. I never noticed it before.” Xia Ruoming looked at Ye Han’s face, speaking softly, and for a moment she almost reached out to touch Ye Han’s face.

Although Ye Han looked more like Liu Ruoxue, she didn’t inherit Liu Ruoxue’s traditional personality that naturally opposed same-sex relationships.

Ye Xue inherited Liu Qingyun’s good-natured personality of never wanting to trouble Liu Ruoxue, while Ye Han inherited Liu Qingyun’s devotion to loving only one person in life. Together, the two sisters were, in a way, exactly like Liu Qingyun.

“Ming… what’s wrong?” Ye Han’s face turned red as Xia Ruoming stared at her, with Xia Ruoming’s warm breath falling directly on Ye Han’s face, giving her a tender appearance.

Without speaking, Xia Ruoming silently took out half of a jade pendant hidden under her clothes at her neck, then pieced it together with the quarter piece of jade pendant that Ye Han had given her.

The lower half of the jade pendant fit together perfectly.

Ye Han’s mouth slightly opened, but no sound came out. She certainly knew what this meant, the woman before her was her cousin!

She had investigated Xia Ruoming’s background but had forgotten about this one thing!

That half jade pendant belonged to someone called Liu Ruoxue, who was her mother’s sister. This jade pendant was her mother’s birthday gift, which was later split into two pieces, with one piece given to her mother’s sister, symbolizing that whether in heaven or on earth, their hearts would forever be connected, never to part.

Even if they were separated one day, they could find each other again with this jade pendant, like the tale of the broken mirror reuniting.

Before Liu Qingyun passed away, she also split her piece of the jade pendant in two. Since she had decided to no longer trouble Liu Ruoxue, this jade pendant had lost its meaning. She gave the split pendant to Ye Han and Ye Xue, hoping her daughters would forever remain harmonious, unlike herself as a useless mother.

“I heard from mom that I really look like my aunt, while my aunt’s second daughter looks just like her…” Xia Ruoming leaned against Ye Han, speaking in an almost whispered voice, “Meeting today proves it’s true, you really look like my mom.”

Xia Ruoming didn’t know much about Ye Han. In her previous life, Xia Ruoming had thought Ye Han was even older than herself. When writing those lists earlier, Xia Ruoming had believed Ye Han might have already graduated from university, but unexpectedly, Ye Han turned out to be her younger cousin.

Not only that, since Ye Han was her cousin, it meant that the somewhat mentally troubled and quiet Ye Xue was her older cousin… It seemed her life was truly full of hardships.

“Sis… sister…” The usually proud Ye Han suddenly clutched her clothes corner like a young girl, calling out somewhat timidly.

Regarding this suddenly appeared sister, Ye Han was actually quite confused, but she also respected Liu Qingyun’s last wishes. From now on, whether with Ye Xue or this cousin she had never met before, they should maintain sisterly harmony.

This was also the first time Ye Han recalled the past. Xia Ruoming really did look like her mother when she was young. Although not to the point where people couldn’t tell them apart on the street, if pedestrians were asked who looked more like Liu Qingyun’s daughter between Ye Han and Xia Ruoming, 99% would choose Xia Ruoming, while the remaining 1% would say they looked equally alike. Nobody would say Ye Han looked more like Liu Qingyun’s daughter.

Come to think of it, her mother had pursued her sister, and now she was following in her mother’s footsteps. Her mother had hoped she wouldn’t be like her… yet she still chose the same path as her mother. Was this fate?

But it seemed somewhat different. Her mother’s sister, from what she heard, didn’t like women at all and particularly opposed such relationships. However, Xia Ruoming did like women, and they weren’t blood sisters either.

“Pfft… Second Young Lady Ye, don’t call me that. Let’s stay as we were before, just call me Ruoming.” Xia Ruoming smiled helplessly. She wasn’t ready to accept Ye Han as her cousin yet. First, this person was the ‘melancholic and unstable second young lady,’ having her constantly around would be like having a time bomb. Second, she wasn’t prepared to take care of another psychologically immature “sister,” as she already had enough daily troubles.

“No!” Ye Han directly embraced Xia Ruoming beside her, “From now on, Sister Xia should call me little sister just like Sister Xue does. I just want to hear you call me that, sister.”

Smelling Xia Ruoming’s elegant fragrance, Ye Han was even a bit grateful for her status as a cousin, she could openly hug the person she liked without any issue. At least she was ahead of Jiang Ruhua in this regard!

“Hey! Ye Han, if we’re talking about that, I’m the older sister, you should listen to me…”

Before Xia Ruoming could finish speaking, Ye Han had already pushed her down onto the lawn.

“Of course a little sister can listen to her big sister, but big sisters should also understand when little sisters want to be spoiled, so a little kiss between sisters isn’t wrong, right, dear-sis-ter~” Ye Han pinned Xia Ruoming on the lawn and directly kissed her.

“Ye Han, Hanhan! Wait a moment… we’re cousins… mmph…”

Ye Han didn’t plan to listen to what Xia Ruoming wanted to say next, directly silencing her upcoming words with her lips.

After quite a while, Ye Han reluctantly released Xia Ruoming.

Lying on the grass looking up at the sky, Xia Ruoming felt her eyes had lost their light.
