Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Li Pu finds himself facing a new problem.

His little boyfriend isn’t clingy anymore.

This morning, Bai Gaoxing says he needs to find his state first. Instead of heading straight to the study room, he wanders around the living room.

Even so, he seems completely immersed in his own world, shutting everything else out.

Compared to the past few days, when the boy stuck close to him every step of the way, this new dynamic leaves Li Pu feeling… disappointed.

Li Pu sighs inwardly, unsure if he is disappointed or feeling a sense of loss. But since Bai Gaoxing has started studying, he can’t disturb him anymore. So, he retreats, turning to get a glass of water.

The living room is brightly lit, and the boy with white hair is focused on writing and drawing in his notebook, looking serious and absorbed. The soft breeze carries the faint rustling sounds of his pen on the paper, much like the unpredictable turmoil of the boy’s heart.

Bai Gaoxing is already feeling lost in the wind.

He glances at the math problems—sin, cos, tan, sets, sequences… He is familiar with them and has some impression, but he can’t quite recall them at the moment.

Focus. Study hard!

Bai Gaoxing flips to the first chapter of the textbook, ready to start in earnest. But just then, he suddenly remembers how close Li Pu was standing behind him earlier…

Why was he so close?

…Forget it, never mind.

Staring at the formulas in the textbook, Bai Gaoxing’s determination surges, and he begins studying.

Gaoxing looks up from the textbook, it is already noon.

He seems to smell… something delicious? A little sweet, too.

Bai Gaoxing sniffs hard. Is it just his stomach growling, or has he actually smelled something that is rarely present in their home?

Has he become so hungry that he is hallucinating?

Bai Gaoxing sets down his pen and closes the book. With a casual glance, he suddenly notices Li Pu standing in front of the dining table, looking like he is hesitating about something.

The table is already filled with plates, but unlike usual, there is one item not completely hidden by the man’s body—it is a square box, partly exposed.

A feast?

Bai Gaoxing marvels at how absorbed he had been, not even hearing the sound of cooking, and rushes over to Li Pu’s side. “What’s for lunch?”

At that moment, Li Pu has just silently finished looking at the custom-made cake and puts the lid back on.

“…Cake,” he says.

“Cake?” Bai Gaoxing repeats as he sits at the table. “Why cake today?”

Li Pu: “Birthday cake.”

Bai Gaoxing’s eyes widen. “Your birthday?”

Li Pu presses Bai Gaoxing’s head down gently, exasperated. “Yours.”

Bai Gaoxing freezes.

He has almost forgotten the last time he celebrated his birthday. For a long time, he hasn’t bothered with birthdays, or by the time he remembers, it is already too late.

And this time… He has been preoccupied with thoughts of leaving, never even noticing that February has arrived.

It is impossible not to feel touched.

Bai Gaoxing never expects Li Pu to remember his birthday, let alone care so much. His nose tingles with emotion, but to hide it, he pretends to be casual and urges, “Quick, open it and see!”

Li Pu pauses for a moment, then silently and slowly opens the cake box.

Bai Gaoxing: “Pfft—!”

What greets his eyes is a large cake, covered in gaudy cream roses in bright red, with little red jelly hearts painted on it, and a chocolate “I Love You” plaque sticking out on top. The whole thing is a riot of colors.

But it is clearly not Li Pu’s style.

“Hahahahahaha, why did you order something like this?”

The mood shifts too quickly.

Bai Gaoxing laughs so hard he collapses onto the table, looking up at Li Pu, then at the cake, and laughs even harder.

Li Pu rubs his forehead, feeling a bit heavy-hearted. “I didn’t expect this…”

When he ordered the cake, he had picked a “confession set” without thinking, never expecting the end result to turn out like this.

“But I really like it.” Bai Gaoxing looks at Li Pu, his eyes narrowing into a smile. “Thank you.”

Li Pu is momentarily startled before raising a hand to ruffle Bai Mao’s hair.

“I ordered it a long time ago…”

At the dinner table, while discussing the process and timing of ordering the cake, Bai Gaoxing raises an eyebrow.

“If I hadn’t planned to leave, when were you planning to tell me?”

Li Pu ponders for a moment. “I was planning to tell you today.”

Bai Gaoxing huffs in frustration, both amused and annoyed. “Then why didn’t you just tell me earlier? Wouldn’t that have solved everything?”

—He hadn’t said a word to him at all.

Li Pu falls silent.

In fact, one of the main reasons he has hesitated to confess is because he fears it might scare the boy, and another reason is…

It is too perverted.

After reading certain comics, he has been haunted by one particular thought—what if he confesses and Bai Gaoxing reacts with something like:

“You even lust after a bird? Amazing.”

“Have you wanted to f*ck me since I was a parrot, you big hentai?”

Admittedly, this is just his imagination and might not have happened. But once the thought exists, even as a possibility, it feels like his entire image will shatter.
He can’t take that risk.

…Although, in reality, Bai Gaoxing almost runs away before he has a chance to say anything. Fortunately, things turn out well in the end.

Just as Li Pu is at a loss for how to respond, Bai Gaoxing mutters, “But then again, if you had told me earlier, I might not have agreed.”

Li Pu’s attention shifts. “What did you say?”

“…Nothing.” Bai Gaoxing whistles sheepishly.

Thinking back, if Li Pu had confessed before he realized he liked him too, he might’ve been so shocked that he would’ve hesitated. Once he started thinking about it, he’d become unsure of his feelings and chicken out. If that happened, he would definitely run away, much faster than he does now!

“Really?” A shadow looms over him.

The two share a piece of very sweet cake, enjoying it for a long time as the cream melts away in their mouths.

The birthday is spent in warmth and peace. After finishing the cake, Bai Gaoxing continues studying, and they go to bed as usual. But when Bai Gaoxing wakes up the next morning, he suddenly feels like something from yesterday is off.

Maybe… Li Pu really didn’t want to?

But during their kiss, he had inadvertently touched the man’s lower body, which was clearly aroused.

Ah, I don’t get it.

Bai Gaoxing decides to continue filling the gap with knowledge.

…

When Bai Gaoxing checks the comments in the Xinghuo section, he realizes he hasn’t posted anything in a while.

Since returning from M Country, he has been too preoccupied to post. On the first day, he tries to put up a new video, but after that, he doesn’t upload anything.

At this moment, Bai Gaoxing leans comfortably against Li Pu, scrolling through the comments on his previous works.

The fans are adorable and enthusiastic, asking on Weibo and under the videos how Dabai has been recently, with words full of “wanting to see” meaning.

It makes sense—considering Li Pu used to post one or even multiple videos a day, and now it has been several days without a new post. Without any scheduled activities, people must be worried.

However, the number of people asking has dropped significantly. This is because, after “Dabai” became famous, many other people started doing parrot live streams, attracting quite a number of viewers. Bai Gaoxing has also seen some of those parrots and has to admit—they are talented.

Thinking about this, Bai Gaoxing slaps Li Pu’s arm. “Let’s film a short video together!”

Li Pu closes his e-book. “I thought you were going to memorize vocabulary words?”

“I’ll do it later!” Bai Gaoxing smacks his lips.

Now, he finally has a proper reason to film a video.

Bai Gaoxing still remembers how painful it is to film his first video, which he could only do by himself. It had been awful! But this time, he can…

“Are you sure?” Li Pu raises an eyebrow.

“Yes, go ahead, rub me hard!” Bai Gaoxing fluffs himself up into a ball, looking irresistible to touch.

Li Pu chuckles softly, making Bai Gaoxing’s heart skip a beat.

The man’s fingers gently slide from the parrot’s feathered crown down to its back, then from the tail back to the chest. The softest down feels incredible under his touch, his long fingers sinking slightly into the soft feathers, enhancing the feeling of softness.

Fans are excited after seeing the video.

【Ahhhhhh, Teacher Li finally posted a new work!】

【Dabai is sooooo cute I can’t stop looking—】

【Wait, why does this kind of ‘petting’ seem so… suggestive? (thinking)】

【Teacher Li’s hands… sniff~ so suggestive~】

Bai Gaoxing returns to his human form and pokes his head out from under the blanket, leaning back against Li Pu again, grinning as he scrolls through the comments.

But soon, he can’t smile anymore.

Li Pu notices the change in his expression and leans over, asking, “What’s wrong?”

Bai Gaoxing turns his phone over, hiding it under the blanket, and calmly says, “Nothing.”

Li Pu doesn’t press further, just picks up his own phone and checks under his account.

The comment section doesn’t reveal much, so he pauses for a moment and then logs into the other account.

Sure enough, there are two new direct messages.

【Teacher Li, how old is Dabai now? I have a female Chinese ring-necked parakeet at home and was wondering…” [picture].】

【Teacher Li, ahhh, do you need parrot chicks? Could my beauties have a chance?” [picture]】

Both pictures feature Wutong Parrots. The first shows only one, but the second one has… a whole row of them.

Unlike Bai Gaoxing, who has the albino gene, these parrots are brightly colored, resembling the lush leaves of the Chinese parasol tree during the peak of summer or autumn, full of vitality.

The two accounts have clearly expressed their desire to find a healthy and smart male parrot to pair with their female birds.

Wutong parrots are quite valuable and typically belong to wealthy families.

This reminds Li Pu of something the veterinarian, Dr. An, mentioned when he visited the pet hospital in the past.

Li Pu can’t help but curve his lips into a smile.

Bai Gaoxing, meanwhile, has become numb and buries his face in the blanket. “Small animals are hard to deal with…”

Both accounts are local to Jiangcheng and say they can either bring the parrots over or pick up Dabai if needed.

Li Pu begins typing.

Bai Gaoxing quietly leans over, watching as he gently declines both messages.

The first person quickly accepts the refusal, but the second person isn’t giving up yet and sends another message:

【Spring is here! Parrots are so noisy when they’re in heat. The males will even build nests! They might tear down the whole house! Teacher Li, are you sure you don’t want to reconsider? QAQ】

Spring… has indeed arrived.

It’s already the end of February, and the willows have started budding. From a distance, on the lakeside, Bai Gaoxing sees clusters of green mist swaying with the warm wind.

“But this has nothing to do with me!” Bai Gaoxing clutches his little heart. “And with that many parrots, does she want to drain me dry?!”

Li Pu slightly tilts his head, his eyes darkening with a dangerous gleam. “Drain you dry?”

“I mean, I refuse to do anything perverted like interspecies—!” Bai Gaoxing blurts out.

Li Pu doesn’t let up. “What if they could turn human?”

Bai Gaoxing freezes. “Huh?” Then he actually starts considering it.

Li Pu takes a deep breath, firmly declines the second request again, then tosses his phone aside. “Come here.”

Later, as Bai Gaoxing rubs his swollen, aching lips, he hisses under his breath.

Was that… jealousy?

But—how can you get jealous of a parrot?!?

…

March rolls around soon after.

Bai Gaoxing feels the weather gradually warming up, and it’s getting hot very quickly.

For example, recently, he keeps feeling like something is wrong with his body. He’s always warm, with his palms constantly burning, and everything feels uncomfortable.

This discomfort comes in waves and doesn’t last long, so he doesn’t pay much attention to it.

Studying is more important.

In the early morning, after Bai Gaoxing finishes his vocabulary review, he hears the bathroom door open, and Li Pu comes out.

Li Pu has recently started going for a morning run downstairs, and after sweating, he goes to wash up, which Bai Gaoxing has gotten used to.

Bai Gaoxing closes his book, mentally reviewing a formula one last time before looking up at Li Pu. “The weather’s been nice lately. Want to go out for a walk sometime?” He has been thinking about it for a while, and if they go out now, he wouldn’t even need to wear the flying leash!

“Okay,” Li Pu agrees easily, then steps closer. “What’s wrong with you?”

“Hm? What’s wrong?” Bai Gaoxing blinks at him in confusion, completely unaware that his face is currently flushed.

“Are you running a fever?” Li Pu places the back of his hand on Bai Gaoxing’s forehead. “It doesn’t seem like it.”

Bai Gaoxing feels a bit disoriented. He was fine just a moment ago, so he raises his hand to check. He’s not hot, just the normal warmth of a fever.

His gaze drifts—Li Pu has just stepped out of the bathroom, his nightgown tied loosely around him, exposing a generous portion of collarbone and well-defined chest muscles. Lower down, the faint shadow of his abdominal muscles is visible…

Bai Gaoxing suddenly feels a rush of heat.

Drip.

Something warm trickles from his nose.

His eyes widen. He instinctively reaches up to touch his face.

Li Pu’s expression shifts to alarm. He quickly grabs a tissue and presses it against Bai Gaoxing’s nose. “Are you okay?”

Bai Gaoxing looks down at the bright red stain on his fingertips.

Why… am I getting a nosebleed?!?

Author’s note:

Bai Gaoxing in his head: So hot!

Bai Gaoxing in reality: ???
