Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

A good night’s sleep

Bai Gaoxing has never slept so well before. He feels completely refreshed as dawn breaks.

When he opens his eyes, Li Pu is still asleep, his peaceful face turned toward him, displaying a pleasing expression.

Just looking at him makes Bai Gaoxing feel better.

He can’t help but laugh, trying hard to stifle the sound. This isn’t a dream—he and Li Pu are really together. The person he likes also likes him back. There’s nothing in the world happier than this.

Unable to resist, he inches closer.

Bai Gaoxing carefully scoots forward. His arm has already wandered onto Li Pu’s chest in his sleep, rising and falling with the man’s breathing. Worried about making him uncomfortable, he slowly pulls his hand back and quickly retreats under his own blanket.

But something feels off… Li Pu doesn’t seem to have slept well.

Bai Gaoxing studies his face, props himself up, and slowly leans in, reaching out to brush against his eyelashes.

Before he can touch him, Li Pu wakes up.

Maybe his movement is too large and disturbs him. The man’s eyelids flutter a few times before slowly opening, meeting his gaze.

Bai Gaoxing smiles down at Li Pu, “You’re awake?”

The morning sunlight filters through the curtains, casting a soft glow over Bai Gaoxing’s white hair. His pajama top, having been tugged and left open overnight, exposes his shoulder to the air, with his collarbone trailing down his chest, revealing a patch of skin.

This position…

Li Pu slightly bends one leg and looks away. “Get off.”

Bai Gaoxing’s smile instantly disappears.

“What did you say?”

He deliberately acts shocked and leans in even closer, bracing himself over Li Pu.

What? No cuddling? No morning affection? And now he’s being told to go down?!

Bai Gaoxing feels that this isn’t how he imagined being in a relationship.

So, he throws himself on top of Li Pu, tightly wrapping his arms around him and threatening, “I won’t get off! What are you going to do?”

Li Pu’s breath hitches as he raises his hand and firmly grips the boy’s waist. It’s so thin that his two hands can almost encircle it. The incredibly pleasant sensation, combined with the visual image, makes him feel it’s hard to resist.

It only makes things more difficult.

But Bai Gaoxing still feels that the morning should start with a little playful teasing to lighten the mood. He wraps his legs around Li Pu and rests his head against Li Pu’s neck. “Being so serious every day isn’t good for mental and physical health!”

The warmth of Bai Gaoxing’s breath and the brushing of his hair against his skin are a huge challenge for Li Pu in the morning. Unable to endure it any longer, he forcefully pins the boy down with his arms, leaning over him.

Bai Gaoxing quiets.

The morning sunlight is blocked by their figures, and the sudden shift makes Bai Gaoxing feel dizzy. He stares blankly at the figure above him, not knowing what to say.

He swallows and feels that the next development might be… a morning session?

The atmosphere quickly becomes suggestive.

Bai Gaoxing tenses his legs under the blanket, feeling a little numb. Unable to resist, he lifts them, immediately feeling something hard. He pauses for a moment. “Take your knee away, it’s pressing against me…”

Wait.

In this position, how could his knee be pressing against him?

Bai Gaoxing’s eyes widen slightly, awkwardly glancing at Li Pu. A faint blush appears on his face. “I… we’re both men, I understand!”

However, before he can finish speaking, Li Pu suddenly shifts off him with lightning speed, as if shocked, then quickly puts on his slippers and leaves the room, stumbling a bit due to his disorganized steps.

Bai Gaoxing stares in shock and confusion at the direction Li Pu leaves: ???

…

Li Pu realizes he has a new problem.

His little boyfriend is too clingy.

For example, right now, he gains a deeper understanding of Bai Gaoxing’s clinginess toward him.

“Add more meat.”

“Can you leave out all the vegetables?”

“I want that sausage too…”

It sounds like a normal request, but the person speaking is tightly pressed against him.

Bai Gaoxing stands behind Li Pu, wrapping his arms around the man’s lean waist. Since he’s too short to see the stove, he pokes his head out from the side.

His eyes shine as he looks at the boiling water and eggs in the pan, as if the pot already contains a delicious meal that would make anyone drool.

After forgetting the strange scene that occurred in the bedroom earlier, Bai Gaoxing follows Li Pu into the kitchen, claiming he’s there to supervise him while cooking.

But really, he just wants to stick close to him.

He’s gotten used to spending all day with Li Pu when he was a parrot, and even after transforming into a human, they are inseparable. Now that they’re together, he doesn’t want to be apart.

However, at this moment, Bai Gaoxing begins to doubt his own appeal as a partner.

Because Li Pu hasn’t even glanced at him once!

…Is this real?

Bai Gaoxing moves two steps to the side and looks up at Li Pu’s expression. He notices that Li Pu doesn’t even furrow his brows—he’s simply focused on the pot.

The man holds a long bamboo chopstick in one hand and the handle of the pan in the other. His rolled-up sleeves reveal strong, yet not overly bulky muscles on his forearms, showing that he’s putting in some effort.

Hold it back.

Li Pu exhales slowly, forcing himself to concentrate. He has long since noticed Bai Gaoxing’s lingering gaze. Those eyes are too intense, making him want to respond just as intensely.

Li Pu recalls a phrase he once read online—cute aggression. That’s exactly how he feels about the boy, wanting to hold him, kiss him, and also… make him cry.

He’s not sure if this thought is normal, but he’s certain that having such thoughts means he’s being excessive.

“Li Pu…”

Bai Gaoxing moves closer again, this time intending to say, “Let me kiss you,” but after thinking for a moment, he can’t quite bring himself to say it.

So he just acts on it instead, bouncing on his tiptoes and planting a quick “Chu!” on Li Pu’s cheek.

…Or at least, he tries.

He misses.

Li Pu’s body immediately tenses up, his gaze momentarily flickering. “Stop messing around.”

Bai Gaoxing clicks his tongue. “How is this messing around? Is it wrong for me to kiss my boyfriend?”

Li Pu: “…”

Bai Gaoxing suddenly adds, “Actually, we kissed a long time ago!”

“Before?” Li Pu pauses, recalling. Could it be… that Bai Gaoxing secretly kissed him?

Thinking about it, his gaze darkens. “When?”

Bai Gaoxing grins. “When I pecked your lips as a bird.”

Li Pu: “…”

That’s it. Li Pu can no longer hold back. He drops the chopsticks into the pan, grips Bai Gaoxing’s head from behind, and pulls him in for a deep kiss.

He kisses him hard, so much so that his lips feel numb.

“Ah…” Bai Gaoxing blinks, dazed. He touches his lips, then grins uncontrollably. A second later, he bursts into laughter.

And then—poof!

A snow-white parrot flaps into the air.

Now in his bird form, Bai Gaoxing happily zooms around the room, celebrating his successful kiss. After a few excited laps, he finally lands on Li Pu’s chest—only for his claws to accidentally hook onto a particularly sensitive area.

Li Pu sucks in a sharp breath.

Bai Gaoxing quickly apologizes and tries to make it up, giving it a little suck!

Li Pu’s hand, still holding the chopsticks, trembles slightly. “Dabai…”

Bai Gaoxing flattens his crown feathers. “Ying.”

When Mei Youshu brings the textbooks and study guides over, the scene he sees is Bai Gaoxing leaning against Li Pu, the two of them surrounded by an invisible, intimate atmosphere.

Mei Youshu: “…”

He knew it!

When he first thought that Dabai was too smart, he already suspected he was no ordinary parrot. Later, it is confirmed that Dabai is indeed extraordinary.

Just yesterday, Sister Li casually mentioned that Brother Li and Dabai are together. Isn’t this straight out of a Shoujo manga?!

Wait a minute.

Back when Brother Li asked him for manga recommendations… had he been using them as a reference?

Mei Youshu can’t help but admire, “Impressive,” before dropping the heavy bag of study books on the coffee table. “Brother Li, here’s everything you asked for. Chinese, Math, English, History, Geography, Politics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology.” He pulls out stacks of textbooks and tutorial books. “All here!”

But Mei Youshu can’t shake the feeling that after dropping the books off, the pink bubble between the two of them seems to deflate rapidly.

Oh, he understands now—this is the power of knowledge!

“Thank you, Brother Shu.” Bai Gaoxing picks up a textbook and flips through it, noticing the neat handwriting and carefully marked key points in the margins.

Mei Youshu explains, “Sister Li said time’s too tight right now, so focusing on the key points is more efficient, so I borrowed the textbook from her neighbor’s daughter.” He pauses. “The owner of the textbook is a top student from last year’s college entrance exam, so it should be fine.”

It is more detailed than he expects. Bai Gaoxing marvels at Lei Li’s meticulousness, with the key points marked out. With this, the review will be much more efficient.

Then Mei Youshu asks, “Have you thought about which university you want to apply to?”

Lei Li has been very focused on her daughter’s education. She even asked Mei Youshu to help research various universities, ranking them by scores.

“This is also from Sister Li.” Mei Youshu pulls out a sheet of paper covered in dense handwriting.

Bai Gaoxing looks it over, and his vision darkens. There are even 985 universities and 211 universities on the list.

After seeing Mei Youshu off, Li Pu asks, “How many points did you score before?”

He asks this with a hidden agenda.

Jiangcheng University.

It’s the local university, the closest to home, with fewer restrictions and a good learning environment.

The only downside is the high scores needed—it’s a 985 university, and Li Pu wonders how Bai Gaoxing has done academically.

If his level is average, Jiangcheng University of Science and Technology would also be a good option, though that requires living on campus and doesn’t allow for easy back-and-forth travel.

Bai Gaoxing doesn’t know what Li Pu is thinking and, after studying the paper, says, “As for the scores… Jiangcheng University should be fine, and Green City University is also okay.”

Both universities are at the top of the list as top-tier schools in the country.

Li Pu feels a bit relieved.

However, the next second, Bai Gaoxing points to a line of text and says, “How about I apply to Spring City University? The score isn’t too low, and didn’t we go there for that variety show? The scenery there is really nice!”

Li Pu: “…”

This little parrot really likes to run wild.

But after realizing Jiangcheng University is the closest, Bai Gaoxing immediately changes his mind. “Alright, I’ll apply to Jiangcheng University!”

Li Pu nods, satisfied—though his face remains expressionless.

…

The university decision is settled, and Bai Gaoxing’s attention shifts back to Li Pu.

After several days of testing, he finds himself deeply immersed in self-doubt.

Why hasn’t Li Pu made a single move? Is he misunderstanding their relationship? Is it actually pure? Or is Li Pu just… too reserved?

Bai Gaoxing rests his face in his hand and lets his thoughts wander. The weather is nice today—the sky is blue, and the clouds are drifting. He can hear the sparrows arguing outside, while the textbooks on the coffee table are being blown open by the wind.

With the sound of rustling pages, Bai Gaoxing’s romantic mood begins to fade. The study problem in front of him is more important. He has already skimmed through the textbook, and the content isn’t too different. For the remaining time, he will review what he already knows and familiarize himself with the parts he is less confident about. He should be able to stabilize his knowledge by then.

He doesn’t want to think about anything else.

Bai Gaoxing decides to clear his mind from now on.

Meanwhile, Li Pu watches the young man sitting at the coffee table, his own thoughts beginning to churn.

Today is Dabai‘s birthday.

The words he had planned to say before are now useless, but he has already ordered a cake, and they will be able to eat it at lunch.

Thinking of how the boy has been so close to him these past few days, and his intentional or unintentional teasing, Li Pu lowers his eyelids, his heart burning. A voice filled with a different intention echoes in his mind.

Dabai is already an adult, isn’t he? And he has just turned a year older.

With that thought, Li Pu’s gaze grows darker.

After a long moment of contemplation, he finally stands up, walks over, and sits beside Bai Gaoxing.

From this angle, he can see the boy’s long eyelashes and the soft curve of his earlobe, partially hidden by his hair.

Li Pu leans in slightly, his breath getting closer.

Bai Gaoxing, still focused on his textbook, picks up a pen and—without even looking—pushes Li Pu’s face away.

“Move. I’m studying.”
