Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

After carefully reading the statement, Bai Gaoxing is shocked by the crew’s decisiveness.

The gist of the statement is simple: the crew has decided to replace the actor playing “Blake,” and since actor Park Jiahui is the one at fault, his contract is terminated without any compensation for breach of contract.

On a smaller scale, it only means a loss of time and wages, which doesn’t seem like a big deal. But thinking like that would be too simplistic.

Frank’s earlier words, “We won’t let this end too ugly,” actually refer to the “whether to disclose” aspect.

Every actor must endure scrutiny from the public eye. Their reputation directly affects the trajectory of their career, as well as how they are perceived by the industry. After all, every capital considers the image of the stars it invests in.

Clearly, Park Jiahui’s career is over.

The crew’s announcement doesn’t hold back—it explicitly names “Park Jiahui” without a shred of mercy.

Bai Gaoxing has already seen a picture circulating online of Li Pu on set, half his body stained with blood. Although the truth is quickly clarified—that it’s just a blood pack—and the picture is taken down, the visual impact is too strong. Not everyone will have seen the correction, and for many, their impression of Park Jiahui’s actions has likely worsened.

Now, the internet is definitely in an uproar.

Bai Gaoxing quietly stares at the statement for a while and lets out a deep breath of relief.

Still… what exactly happened behind the scenes? He’ll have to ask Li Pu when he gets back.

Wait.

Where is Li Pu?

Bai Gaoxing looks toward the door, which has been quiet for a long time, his face blank as he stares at the dinner set neatly laid out on the table.

Didn’t they just say they were going to do a live blind box dinner for the fans?

…

As Bai Gaoxing guesses, the internet is buzzing with the news.

【F*, am I seeing this right?】

【Did Park Jiahui really do that? But he seemed like such a nice guy?】

Many netizens are completely stunned. Just the day before, they were lamenting how Park Jiahui had gotten unlucky and got injured, and now they’re hit with this bombshell news!?

【Wait, is this true? It feels so unbelievable. Could it be a publicity stunt?】

【My brother would never do that! Can you Li Pu fans stop making baseless accusations?】

【Hilarious. This is a statement from director Frank himself. Do you even know Frank’s status in the F-country film industry? You think he’d waste his time smearing some unknown actor? He wouldn’t dirty his hands with this nonsense.】

And then, things spiral further:

【Ugh, how disgusting, so fake, truly a perfect actor.】

【Teacher Li’s injury is absolutely terrifying. Does he even realize this could have killed someone?】

【Thinking about it now, it’s scary. Were those past rumors true? They said Park Jiahui used to bully promising newcomers, but I thought it was just smear campaigns. Maybe there was some truth to them after all.】

【Why is this trending topic getting pushed down? Is Park’s PR team working overtime to bury it?】

As #CasinoCrew’sStatement shoots up the trending charts, #LiPuLiveStreamIncident surges even higher.

【Ahhhhhh sisters, stop reading these cold, harsh texts! There’s a live stream happening over there!】

In an instant, everyone switches to the new battleground.

The livestream screen is dark—there’s no video—but the viewer count keeps climbing, surpassing the top broadcast of the night. The original first viewer is completely baffled.

In the chat, early viewers have left messages:

【Ugh, so fake.】

【Hehe, “Let’s chat before I leave”? Isn’t that just showing off? Ridiculous!】

【AHHHHHHHH! Teacher Li should’ve hit him! (I mean his face) (With enthusiasm!)】

【No, no, no! Don’t talk! I can’t hear clearly!】

【What’s going on? Can anyone explain to the newcomers about dear Li Maozi?】

【Let me explain! Originally, Li Pu said he’d do a live stream today, but halfway through, Park called him out. Damn! He’s there revealing the scene live!】

【I remember Park Jiahui had also ‘chatted’ with several newcomers before… and they all left after that.】

【Wocwocwoc, the entertainment industry is really something else. Does Teacher Li know more than he’s letting on?】

【Damn, evidence! He actually wants evidence? I can almost see his smug face! I didn’t quite believe it before, but the moment he said that, I lost all respect for him!】

A sudden shuffle of footsteps. The phone seems to have been snatched by someone else.

“What is this…?”

A rustling sound comes through, followed by a clearer voice.

“Recording? That’s useless.”

Li Pu’s tone softens. “No, what you said is already in the past. I’m watching now—to see how the crew deals with you.”

“What did you say!?”

“The crew found out—it was you who swapped the prop knife. Not too long ago.”

There’s a brief silence before Park Jiahui lets out a sneer. “Ha… You think this is enough to do anything to me? Please. In a few days, people will forget all about this. Just shift their attention elsewhere, and it’ll be over.” He chuckles. “Oh, right—I almost forgot. Mr. Li, you never care about this kind of thing, do you? You’re too inexperienced.”

The sound of footsteps grows closer.

“Besides, even if you record everything that happened today, it’s useless. With today’s technology, it’s not hard to fake audio. And between fabricating a video or secretly recording someone… which one do you think has more serious consequences?”

【Ahhhhhh, Teacher Li! Please think about your own safety first!】

【Help! Will that lunatic Park attack him again? Li Pu’s hand is still injured!!】

A loud “bang” is heard, and the sound grows fuzzier, followed by a hissing noise.

Park Jiahui’s voice comes again: “As long as the evidence is destroyed, it’s fine.”

Li Pu: “I know, but… this is a live stream.”

A sharp beep—!

In the dim corner of the hotel, Li Pu lowers his gaze, staring at the shattered phone in his hand. He lets out a soft sigh. “What a pity. Too late.”

Park Jiahui stares at him, suspicion flickering in his eyes, as if refusing to believe it. “Are you tricking me?”

“I’m not in the mood for that.” Li Pu raises an eyebrow. “You can see for yourself if I’m tricking you.”

Park Jiahui hesitates, then quickly pulls out his phone. As he glances at the screen, his narrowed eyes fill with panic. No—this can’t be true. He still has plans. He’s going to trample Li Pu beneath his feet. There can’t be a mistake now—

“I’ve been looking for you for a long time, Li.” Darren wipes the sweat off his brow, and upon seeing Li Pu, his worried expression turns into a smile. “You really have the guts to stay alone with him, huh?”

The young man with brown hair and green eyes knocks on the wall. “Frank’s personal legal team is here to terminate your contract, Park Jiahui.”

…

Bai Gaoxing never expects to see Park Jiahui’s assistant in Director Frank’s office.

The tall, skinny young man with black hair and eyes takes off his glasses, looking exhausted.

When their eyes meet, the assistant’s expression flickers—hope, then resignation.

“Sorry,” the assistant says, “I don’t even know what to say. I just know I can’t make another mistake.”

“I’m glad for the evidence you provided,” Frank smiles, “but before you confessed, we already caught your little tail.” He chuckles. “Some of the details were handled so perfectly that they became suspicious because they were too perfect. As for those words I said… I just wanted to trick him. My scriptwriter sometimes likes to stir things up.”

The bearded man shrugs. “Looks like it worked pretty well.”

On the table, there’s a prop knife and a mobile phone, both sealed in plastic bags.

“Bai, you’re here,” Frank waves. “Good thing you didn’t go on strike back then. Otherwise, I really wouldn’t know where to find another Noah.”

Bai Gaoxing has already guessed the truth from their conversation.

“So it really is Park Jiahui, huh?” He stays calm. “Did he threaten you, or were you an accomplice?”

For a while, he listens as the assistant explains how he swapped the fake knife and erased the evidence.

“We pulled all the footage from the prop room’s surveillance, checked the timestamps, verified each person, and narrowed it down to the most suspicious individuals,” Frank explains succinctly. “Everyone who wasn’t part of the shoot that day was ruled out, meaning the person who swapped the prop had to be one of the four present during filming.”

What an exhausting elimination process… Bai Gaoxing’s lips twitch.

No wonder it took so long. The entire casino’s ceiling is practically covered in cameras, ensuring strict surveillance over every corner. On top of that, given the sensitive nature of the location, just negotiating access to the footage must have been a massive effort.

“And… ‘The thief cries thief.’ Park’s words actually gave me a lot of inspiration.” Frank narrows his eyes. “I even looked up the meaning of that phrase, but I was still confused after reading it. Was he trying to openly confess to being a murderer?”

No, he was implying that Li Pu stabbed himself… Bai Gaoxing complains inwardly.

Frank continues, “This assistant clearly went to the room, but there are no fingerprints on the box except for his, which is very suspicious. What’s even more interesting is that a waiter said he once helped this assistant pick up a small knife. I showed the waiter what the knife looked like, and it matches perfectly.” He taps the table. “I was planning to make an official announcement tomorrow, but I didn’t expect to get this unexpected gain tonight.”

Changing the subject, Frank asks, “Bai, did you come to see me for something?”

Bai Gaoxing quickly responds, “Li Pu suddenly disappeared! I thought he might have come to find you.”

The atmosphere on set is great, often seeing actors discussing the script with Frank, and Li Pu occasionally joins them, but today’s timing feels a bit too strange.

“We were about to have dinner.”

Just as he finishes speaking, Darren’s voice comes from outside the door: “No need to look anymore~” The young man opens the door and gestures for Bai Gaoxing to look at the man beside him. “He’s here.”

…

It’s already surprising that Park Jiahui has been caught, but it’s even more unexpected that the person beside him suddenly turns against him, adding another witness to the case.

The assistant has even saved recordings and chat logs, documenting Park Jiahui’s entire plan from start to finish.

“But why did he suddenly decide to come forward?” Bai Gaoxing asks on the way back. He remembers the assistant as someone who always followed Park Jiahui timidly, seemingly afraid of him. Their relationship never seemed particularly good.

“Maybe he finally grew a conscience,” Mei Youshu says. “Working under someone like that must have been exhausting. I remember meeting him two years ago—Park Jiahui was yelling at him, and he just sat in the corner, looking miserable. I was worried he was on the verge of breaking down.” He smiles. “I think Brother Li gave him a bottle of water and tried to comfort him, right?”

Li Pu thinks for a moment and shakes his head. “No memory of that.”

“Really…” Bai Gaoxing sees the dinner cart at the door of the room from a distance and suddenly grabs Li Pu’s arm. “Uh-oh, the food must be cold! And our live stream!”

…

At the dining table, after listening to Li Pu’s thrilling “conversation” recap, Bai Gaoxing picks up his phone and logs into Li Pu’s Xinghuo account.

“I’m definitely making him compensate you for your phone…” he mutters, propping the phone up on the table and turning the camera on himself.

Almost immediately, a flurry of comments floods the screen.

【Huh? Can we see the video?】

【Xiaobai, Xiaobai, Xiaobai! Wow, was Xiaobai also there just now?】

【I’m relieved to see Li Pu is fine~】

【Hehehehe, is tonight’s food broadcast still happening?】

【Ahhhhhhhhhhh Teacher Li, are you okay?!】

【Xiaobai, did you see Li Pu’s live situation just now? It was so intense! Actually, never mind, it’s safer if you don’t go over.】

【I really didn’t expect Park to be like this. I thought he was okay before, but ew, ew, ew, ew!】

【Do you need help? Is anyone nearby calling the police? Ahhhhhh!!】

【I’m so anxious, so anxious, so anxious!】

【Ahh… I can’t wait to see how Paohui Entertainment reacts. The evidence is undeniable—let’s see how they try to spin this.】

【I bet they’ll still find a way. They’re pros at covering things up…】

As soon as the topic starts, the chat explodes with people cursing Park Jiahui, with a flood of messages instantly getting censored by asterisks.

Bai Gaoxing stares at the reaction, stunned. The impact of the crew’s statement is far greater than he expects. Combined with the live stream, Park Jiahui’s true colors are now laid bare for the public. His reputation plummets, and there’s likely no chance of salvaging it.

But if this keeps up, Li Pu’s account might end up getting banned!

Thinking fast, Bai Gaoxing quickly changes the subject. “Let’s not dwell on that for now. Let’s eat first! Let’s see what the hotel sent us today…”

The white-haired boy on camera looks adorable in his flustered state, and the fans absolutely love it.

【Okay, okay! It’s so late, you guys should eat quickly.】

【Please feed poor Teacher Li, woooo (I totally don’t want to see a live feeding session, nope, not at all!)】

Indeed, it would be a bit too much if he eats alone.

Bai Gaoxing glances at Li Pu, who is quietly sitting at the table, trying to use his left hand to pick up the chopsticks. He probably has never used his left hand for eating utensils before, so his movements are a bit clumsy, and his gaze—when he looks up—holds an unexpectedly innocent quality.

“…” Bai Gaoxing sighs, steeling himself as he picks up a spoon and scoops up some soup.

【Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!】 The barrage goes wild.

Bai Gaoxing quickly turns the phone around, facing the wall, forcing himself to focus on the spoon. His hand trembles slightly as he reaches toward Li Pu’s lips but suddenly stops right before it reaches them. “You should eat yourself!”

If he can’t use chopsticks, at least the spoon will work!

Li Pu calmly takes the spoon, but there’s a flicker of regret in his eyes.

Bai Gaoxing blinks, thinking he must have imagined it. He stares at Li Pu for a moment but is quickly distracted by even bigger news flashing across his phone screen.

【!!! Star Entertainment just sent a legal notice to Paohui! Holy—what is this? There’s even a joint statement?!】

Bai Gaoxing rushes to Weibo, clicks on the trending topics, and sees an official document from Star Entertainment stating that they will hold Park Jiahui legally accountable.

And the joint statement—it bears several unfamiliar names, but judging by the frenzied comments, they are once-popular stars who have been wronged in the past.

It looks like this isn’t ending anytime soon.

…

“I haven’t seen you in a while, and you’ve already made such a mess of yourself?” Lei Li sighs, glancing at the two of them before her gaze settles on Li Pu’s bandaged hand.

“…I’m fine.”

“Still fine, huh?” Lei Li scoffs, half exasperated, half amused. She rushes over straight from the company but quickly waves it off. “Yeah, yeah. I probably interrupted something.”

Li Pu: “…”

Bai Gaoxing looks at Lei Li, then at Li Pu, feeling like they are speaking in riddles.

Lei Li quickly gets back to the main topic.

“Park Jiahui has done so many messed-up things in the past, and now they’re all being dug up. Paohui is already ready to abandon him. As long as the evidence is solid, it’s just a matter of time before he gets locked up.”

“Did you go find the people he oppressed?” Li Pu asks.

“It’s not so much reaching out,” Lei Li replies. “A few years ago, those people tried to sue him, and they even handed all their evidence to your brother Feng. But they ended up withdrawing their lawsuits midway.” She pauses. “That was probably Paohui’s doing.”

She pauses again. “Now that Park Jiahui’s stuff is exposed, those people remember the grudge from back then. They feel they can’t let him off so easily, so they decide to use this opportunity to make it big.”

For the first time, Bai Gaoxing feels the true terror of the entertainment industry. “…” No wonder Lei Li told him to stay away from Park Jiahui earlier.

He looks down at the lawyer’s letter again and unconsciously reads it aloud, “Lawyer Fengxing…”

“Our legal consultant at Star Entertainment,” Lei Li smiles faintly. “Also, my husband.”

Bai Gaoxing: “!!!”

Because of this incident, things are even busier at Star Entertainment, and Lei Li plans to leave Las Vegas after only one day.

Bai Gaoxing and Li Pu see her off to the airport.

Just before leaving, Lei Li suddenly remembers something and turns around with a smile. “It’s almost the New Year. Are you guys going back home?”
