I Became Famous After I Became a Parrot in the Movie Star's House - Chapter 125
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
The New Year…
Bai Gaoxing calculates the time and realizes the New Year is approaching.
It has been over a month since they arrived in M Country. With the recent incident and his emotions fluctuating, he hasn’t kept track of time. Before he knows it, they have already passed New Year’s Day and are now almost at the end of January.
Only three days left until Chinese New Year’s Eve.
In the hotel room, Bai Gaoxing holds his phone in silence for a long while before turning his head and asking, “Are you going back for the Chinese New Year?”
In the hotel room, Bai Gaoxing had been holding his phone in silence for a long while before he turned his head and asked, “Are you going back for the Chinese New Year?”
At that moment, Li Pu is flipping through a script. Hearing the question, his movements pause as he turns his head to look at Bai Gaoxing. “Do you want to go back?”
Bai Gaoxing is confused by the question. “Isn’t the New Year… for spending with family?” He laughs awkwardly. “Why are you asking me…”
“They’re not coming back for the New Year this year. It’s just the two of us,” Li Pu says.
“Huh?” Bai Gaoxing, who has planned to stay at the hotel, freezes. “Oh… I see…”
He then turns his attention back to his phone, falling into a deep silence.
In the past, he would have eagerly looked forward to going back, missing the familiar and comfortable environment of home, and would even discuss with Li Pu what they’d eat after getting home.
But now… he actually feels somewhat uneasy about being alone with Li Pu.
Bai Gaoxing curls his legs, rests his chin on his knees, and sighs softly to himself.
Before he can come up with a response, there is a knock at the door, and a somewhat unfamiliar face appears in the doorway. “Hi, I’m Edel. I’m here with a message. Frank needs to speak with you.”
Director’s Office.
“It looks like China’s ‘Spring Festival’ is coming up in a few days. Any plans?” Frank sits at his desk, a large sheet of paper filled with notes spread out in front of him.
“Not yet,” Li Pu replies.
Bai Gaoxing hesitates. “Are we continuing filming?”
“Of course not!” Frank, a typical F-countryman who values comfort, waves his hand dismissively. “After everything that’s happened, don’t you think we deserve a break?”
Bai Gaoxing finds himself at a loss for words.
The situation… is indeed terrible, but the follow-up process is surprisingly smooth.
After Park Jiahui’s past actions are exposed, Paohui Entertainment falls into chaos, with public opinion completely out of control. They can only awkwardly post an announcement, assuring everyone that they will give a thorough explanation.
Park Jiahui terminates his contract with the production team and returns to his country with no further news. The new “Black” actor, Edel, is from Y Country and has adapted well to the team, ready to reshoot Black’s scenes.
Adonis and Noah, of course, don’t get replaced. The director’s dramatic “fish frying” performance fools almost everyone present. Mei Youshu is still shaken afterward—thankfully, he doesn’t end up slamming the table at the director.
Bai Gaoxing also asks Li Pu if he knew about the director’s plan in advance, but the answer is, of course, no.
Fortunately, Li Pu isn’t the type to lose his temper easily.
“Of course, everyone’s going to take a break. We’re planning to give the entire crew a vacation so everyone can rest and get into the best shape possible,” Frank, who has some understanding of foreign cultures, winks. “It’s a good opportunity to go back and see family and friends, isn’t it?”
At this point, it’s really hard to refuse.
That day, they all board the plane back to their country and arrive home safely.
It is already seven in the evening by the time they return.
The house has been empty for over a month, and a layer of dust has settled everywhere. The fish in the aquarium swim leisurely, and the soil in the balcony planters is still slightly damp—since this trip has been particularly long, Lei Li has been coming by every week to tend to the plants and fish.
After dropping his luggage, Bai Gaoxing trudges over to the sofa and collapses onto it. He lifts his eyelids slightly, only to see Li Pu rolling up his sleeves and heading to the bathroom to fetch a rag and mop.
What stamina.
Even the owner of the house is getting to work—how can he just sit around? Besides, Li Pu’s wound can’t get wet. He has to help.
But while his mind is moving, his body refuses to cooperate.
During the twelve-hour flight, he and Li Pu had been seated close together. His nerves had been stretched tight the entire time, making it impossible to sleep. Now that they are home, exhaustion hits him like a wave.
Bai Gaoxing’s thoughts drift, and before he knows it, he has stood up, walked to the bathroom, and asked Li Pu for a clean cloth. He wipes the birdcage, then moves on to clean the table. Just as he finishes, Li Pu suddenly appears in front of him, as if he is holding him…
Hmm!?
Bai Gaoxing jolts awake, his eyes snapping open to find himself lying on the bed in the bedroom, not knowing when he got there. Li Pu is leaning over him, pulling his hand away from the back of Bai Gaoxing’s head.
“Sleep,” Li Pu says.
…So he hasn’t done anything just now. He simply fell asleep on the sofa, and all those scenes were just dreams.
But now, Bai Gaoxing’s drowsiness has completely disappeared.
Just the thought that Li Pu carried him from the sofa to the bed makes him feel strangely flustered, his heart pounding rapidly.
Li Pu is too good to him.
Bai Gaoxing silently pulls the blanket up to his nose, covering half of his face. It looks like he is watching Li Pu, but in reality, he is staring blankly at the ceiling.
Even when he was a parrot, and now as a human, sometimes he wonders if Li Pu’s kindness is what draws him in and makes him want to stay with him forever.
“Not sleepy anymore?” Li Pu asks, amused as he watches Bai Gaoxing lie there in a daze, eyes wide open. The boy had looked so pitiful dozing off on the sofa that Li Pu couldn’t resist carrying him to bed.
Still so light.
“No more sleeping!” Bai Gaoxing throws off the blanket and gets out of bed. His cheeks, hidden by his hair, are slightly flushed, as if they are burning.
Li Pu’s fingers twitch slightly, but he resists the urge to reach out and touch him.
“What do you want to eat for dinner?”
…
At Bai Gaoxing’s insistence, they decide not to cook and order takeout hot pot instead.
The pot is set up, and the tomato broth bubbles as thick white steam rises into the air, casting shifting shadows on the walls of the living room.
Bai Gaoxing is playing with his phone—or rather, using it as an excuse to avoid too much eye contact with Li Pu.
Before they returned, he posted a Weibo update about “going home.” Now, a flood of fans has left comments, urging Teacher Li to make an appearance.
Bai Gaoxing can’t help but smile at a few comments, his mouth curling up, but he quickly suppresses it.
From Li Pu’s perspective, the boy’s eyes curve into crescents, his long eyelashes fluttering slightly with each movement.
This is the expression the boy always makes when he finds something funny online, and Li Pu is already very familiar with it. So he asks, “What did they say?”
Bai Gaoxing instinctively answers, “They want to see you.”
As soon as he says that, Li Pu, who has been sitting, suddenly stands up and walks over to him. “Okay.” His tone softens as he places his phone on the table. “But my phone is out of battery.”
Bai Gaoxing stares blankly at Li Pu, then suddenly realizes he has been staring for too long. He quickly lifts his phone as if to cover up the awkwardness. “Then I’ll just take a random picture!”
The photo of the two of them appears on Bai Gaoxing’s freshly posted Weibo.
Fans rush to the post, lavishing praise on Bai Gaoxing’s efficiency.
But soon, someone notices something important:
【Xiaobai, are you at Teacher Li’s house?】
【Huh? It does seem like it!】
【Are you eating together? I’m so jealous QAQ Ever since I watched ‘Cute Pet Diary,’ I’ve really wanted to try Teacher Li’s cooking.】
【How is Teacher Li’s injury? Is he feeling better?】
【Hotpot, I’m craving it too!】
However, none of the comments cause as much of a stir as this one:
【!!! Xiaobai! You’re at Teacher Li’s house? What about Daba?!】
The netizens haven’t forgotten this running joke. As soon as that comment appears, countless others follow, demanding to see Xiaobai and Dabai in the same frame.
Bai Gaoxing’s hand trembles, and his phone nearly slips from his grip. He fumbles to catch it—barely managing after several attempts.
Cr*p.
He has completely forgotten about that.
But Bai Gaoxing quickly calms down and comes up with an excuse: “We’ve already eaten and are back home! This picture was taken earlier. I saw Dabai, he’s so cute. I’ll definitely remember to take a picture next time!”
As he types the word “cute,” Bai Gaoxing’s fingers involuntarily tremble.
Praising himself as cute…
Forget it. No matter what, there’s no way Xiaobai and Dabai will ever appear in the same frame.
Looking at the comments, which now seem to have completely fallen for his excuse, Bai Gaoxing lets out a quiet sigh of relief. But when he looks up, he sees that Li Pu has already cooked the mutton rolls in the hot pot and placed them into his bowl.
Over time, Li Pu has become quite adept at using his left hand. His movements are steady, just as they were before.
But Bai Gaoxing knows that many things are no longer the same.
Still, he can’t let it show too obviously—he doesn’t want Li Pu to notice anything unusual about his behavior. More than that, he’s afraid of accidentally revealing his feelings.
“…You don’t have to serve me, your hand is still inconvenient. I’ll do it!” Bai Gaoxing says, grabbing a long bamboo chopstick and, with precise movements, scooping food from the pot into Li Pu’s bowl—again and again—until the bowl is stacked precariously like a tower in a balancing game. Only then does he finally put his chopsticks down, satisfied.
Now Li Pu can focus on eating and be too busy eating to pay attention to him!
Bai Gaoxing secretly glances at the man, and sure enough, his attention is successfully diverted.
He finally relaxes a little and starts to eat, but he doesn’t notice that Li Pu is quietly watching him.
…
Dabai seems a little nervous around him.
Li Pu notices it right away. What he can’t figure out is why.
Could it be… that he has been too obvious?
He glances at Bai Gaoxing, who is curled up on the couch, hugging a pillow while watching TV. The boy is watching the variety show they once appeared on, his dark eyes reflecting the shifting images on the screen.
Li Pu had thought he hid it well, but now it seems like Bai Gaoxing has picked up on something.
…Is this an instinct left over from his time as a parrot?
Ever since he learned that the boy still has some abilities from being a parrot, he can’t help but let his thoughts wander in that direction.
These thoughts linger until bedtime.
While washing up, Li Pu suddenly realizes they are supposed to sleep together.
In the same bed.
…There’s no way he’ll be able to sleep.
Li Pu stands in front of the sink for quite a while, mentally preparing himself for a sleepless night.
When he returns to the bedroom, he unconsciously makes the action of opening the door quieter than usual.
But when he enters, there is no one on the bed.
“Dabai?” Li Pu calls out.
There is no response.
But with a quick glance, he keenly notices where the boy usually lies, and there is a small bump under the blanket.
He walks over and gently lifts a corner of the blanket, revealing a small, fluffy ball nestled underneath.
The parrot opens its round eyes, clearly wide awake.
After a long pause, it finally speaks.
“…I saw some people wanted to see Dabai.”
“I figured I’d get into character first.”
“I won’t be changing back for the next few days.”
