Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Cleaning the warehouse and disposing of the garbage takes longer than expected. First, we need to clear out the trash to make space for cleaning and organizing. The challenge arises with materials that have turned into rotting garbage after exceeding their storage period.

“Hey, we’re throwing this out, right?”

“No, it’s guild property. We shouldn’t dispose of it.”

“But it’s blackened and smells weird. It won’t turn into leather armor.”

“That’s not for me to decide.”

This back-and-forth goes on. It’s understandable that guild staff avoid making decisions about losses on their own to prevent corruption.

There’s no other way, so I call Urbano and show him the rotting materials.

“Wow! What is this garbage! It stinks!”

Seeing Urbano’s reaction as expected, the staff sigh and agree to dispose of it.

We then establish a standard for discarding materials by calling Golgogo from the workshop to determine, from a craftsman’s perspective, whether the materials can be used. This straightforward approach becomes the new standard.

Twenty percent of the warehouse inventory is judged as trash and disposed of.

Strictly speaking, we should have depreciated the value of the assets since they were recorded as such, but the guild’s asset books are so unreliable that we dispose of everything without question.

Afterward, a large number of novice adventurers conduct a major cleaning using a human wave tactic. Windows and exits are opened wide, dust is swept away, floors are washed, and shelves are wiped down.

After half a day of thorough cleaning, the stinging stench is gone, and there are no more small insects or rodents.

It’s impressive how anyone could work in such an environment. It felt like living with rotting garbage. The unpopularity of guild staff jobs might stem from issues like this.

At this stage, I invite Urbano and the middle management staff to inspect the warehouse. The front desk staff are surprised, saying, “This warehouse is this big?” Urbano praises them for their work.

Staff from factions opposing Urbano seem to have no overt complaints, likely due to the occasional unpleasant odor and the rodents and insects that wandered in. Although they gossip with comments like, “As expected, commoners seem to be skilled at getting covered in garbage,” the fact that such rumors reach my ears suggests that the staff are on my side. After all, it’s the front desk staff who are relieved from dealing with the stinking warehouse materials, so they likely feel some gratitude.

The copper coins I paid for the rookie adventurers’ work are returned to me as the work is classified as a quest. While it’s not a significant amount, the recognition of warehouse cleaning as an official task of the Adventurers’ Guild is meaningful. From now on, warehouse cleaning will likely be covered by the budget as a request under the authority of the front desk staff.

Once people get used to a clean environment, they generally don’t want to return to one filled with unpleasant odors.

However, we’re only halfway through improving the management and sales methods for monster materials. Now that the back end is clean, we can proceed with improving the management and sales methods.

We start with improving the management method. This can be easily achieved by combining the pallet system with the conveyor system.

First is the pallet system. Essentially, it involves using small containers. Before starting the warehouse cleaning, I ordered a large number of used wooden crates that had previously been used for transporting alcohol.

All the materials that had been haphazardly placed on shelves are now packed into boxes by unit. This unit-based system will be used both for selling to the workshop and during transport. After transport, the workshop will return the boxes. Each box will be numbered.

The organized management makes things dramatically easier.

The conveyor system involves organizing the boxes and the order in which they are sold. To ensure that older monster materials are sold before newer ones, we place new materials at the front and older ones at the back. Ideally, I want to install rollers on the shelves to slide the boxes, but since that’s difficult, I decide to use large colored boards labeled “For Sale From Here” to separate the boxes.

It’s like a long line of “end of line” signs. By moving these boards, we ensure that the oldest materials are sold first. This way, the risk of misreading the date of materials in the dimly lit warehouse is eliminated.

Wiping away sweat and looking with satisfaction at the dramatically organized and modernized warehouse, I notice that Sara is staring at me with utter shock, while the staff members look at me in astonishment.

Maybe I’ve gone a bit too far. I feel myself break out into a cold sweat for a different reason.

But this is only an improvement to the management system…

This is the only novel I've read (so far) that actually explains how an adventurer's guild actually works
