- Chapter 55 - Revisiting the Sword Fangs Legion
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
A top-tier clan like the Sword Fangs Legion is always busy with requests. The likelihood of them being in town is low, as they frequently embark on external missions. However, thanks to rumors among the adventurers’ guild members, it was easy to confirm the recent whereabouts of the Sword Fangs Legion. Apparently, before their external missions, the Sword Fangs Legion holds something akin to a departure ceremony. It’s said to be quite grand and has gained popularity among the city’s residents. The appearance of their leader, Jilboa, only adds to their popularity.
Among the city girls, it seems there are already those who are quite taken with them, and when Captain Jilboa gives a speech, cheers of excitement fill the air. Jilboa, that guy, has started quickly, and it made me happy. Even the nobles find it satisfying to have their requests explained to the townsfolk, leading to support from the citizens. They seem to turn a blind eye to adventurers behaving like knights during their departure ceremonies.
However, in reality, it’s likely that the city guards and private soldiers of the nobles, who are only useful against the city’s thugs, are intimidated by the elite forces that annihilate powerful monsters. To put it in modern terms, it’s like warning the local police about a 30-person PMC (Private Military Company) armed with anti-material rifles, squad support light machine guns, and anti-tank missiles. A sensible person would either bow their head and avoid eye contact while silently praying, or suddenly become engrossed in the weather outside the window to avoid getting involved. Doing the best within the scope of their duties is crucial, but sometimes turning a blind eye to things beyond that might bring mutual happiness.
Having confirmed the whereabouts of the Sword Fangs Legion, I decided to visit their office in the Second District.
Their office still appeared as prosperous as ever, but something about the atmosphere felt different from my last visit. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. I wondered what it was.
As I opened the door, I called out and saw Vice Captain Swiberry. “Long time no see, Vice Captain Swiberry. How have you been…?”
Swiberry seemed different, not in appearance but in demeanor—neat and with a newfound vigor in his eyes. “Oh, Kenji, welcome. The captain is in the back. Let me show you in,” Swiberry replied.
“Ah, sure…” I replied.
Inside the office and among the members, I couldn’t help but notice that everything seemed brighter and tidier than before. Perhaps it was just my imagination.
Guided by Swiberry, albeit slightly thrown off pace, I was led to the Captain’s quarters.
