Helping with Adventurer Party Management - Chapter 38
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
“So, about the future… I’d like some time to plan as well.”
“Of course. For now, let’s settle the rewards up to this point,” Jilboa nodded.
“No, I don’t need money.” In truth, I’m not desperate for immediate cash. What I want is something else entirely. “I’m currently designing boots for adventurers. They’re tough, wear-resistant, non-slip—a groundbreaking design. I’d like you to use them. And when the emblem of the Sword Fangs Legion is decided, I want to incorporate it into the boots.”
“Hmm…? Well, it sounds like a deal that won’t hurt us. Are you some kind of patron? You act like a noble. It sounds interesting, so give me a pair when they’re done.”
Among the nobles, there are also those who support famous adventurers to enhance their own reputation. Certainly, on the surface, it might appear similar.
“Also, if you know any discreet leather craftsmen, I’d appreciate the referral. Shoemaking involves many trade secrets, and I need trustworthy connections with craftsmen. In the third district, there are too many who seem easily swayed by money.”
“We have many transactions, including with nobles, that require discretion. Understood. If that’s all, I’ll make the introduction.”
“Good. It’s a deal then. I’ll be back soon.”
With this, my discussion with the legendary man came to an end for now. I secured the agreement, and the Sword Fang Corps got their future direction. Moving forward, to bring about changes in the Sword Fangs Legion, I’ll need to engage with them carefully.
After shaking hands with Jilboa and parting ways, Swiberry offered to escort me to the inn in the third district. He seemed like he wanted to say something, so I decided to quietly follow along.
We walked in silence for a while, but then Swiberry muttered something under his breath.
“Are you interested in joining the Sword Fangs Legion?”
It was an invitation to join the prestigious clan that every adventurer aspired to.
“I retired due to bad knees. You don’t need someone who can’t fight, right?”
I appreciate the offer, but after seeing the clan’s office and its members, I couldn’t help but hesitate. I couldn’t imagine fitting in with that group of seasoned warriors.
However, Swiberry continued regardless of my response.
“I’m not educated. But hearing your story today made me realize something. I’m content just following Captain Jillboa, raising my shield alongside my comrades, swinging my sword. The members aren’t much different from me. They’re skilled, but that’s about it. If we want to expand the Sword Fangs Legion, we need someone who can use their head. Until now, I thought that smart people were just good at talking and couldn’t be trusted. But, even though I can’t put it nicely, the way you think is clear and practical, even for an uneducated person like me. I can tell that you’re considering things in a way that will be helpful.”
It was an unexpected and eloquent invitation. So when Swiberry told me to think about it, I promised to seriously consider it.
