Helping with Adventurer Party Management - Chapter 265
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
That day, as in the past, people crowd into the third district, and it feels like the air is getting stifling with the heat and the crowd. A cart surrounded by armed men with swords and shields slowly moves forward, loaded with beautifully decorated boxes of shoes wrapped in cloth.
The Delivery of Shoes.
Protected by the Sword Fangs Legion and led by the clergy, the delivery of shoes for the clergy has come to be known by this name without anyone realizing it.
The 300 pairs of meticulously packed pioneer shoes are wrapped in boxes that are larger and more luxurious than those for the adventurer’s guardian shoes. Due to the balance between security and transport capacity, the delivery is arranged in three batches of 100 pairs each.
And today is the third and final delivery.
As I walk alongside the cart, surrounded by the heavily guarded procession, Sara speaks up. “Everyone seems really happy.”
“Yeah. But I wonder why the crowd keeps getting bigger each time,” I complain.
This is already the third procession, and if I count the one delivered to the cardinal, it would be the fourth, so it seems like the reactions from the crowd would have settled down a bit, but people are still gathering as usual.
In fact, with each passing delivery, the number of people increases, making it take longer each time for the procession to move forward.
“Maybe it’s because of that rumor,” Sara says knowingly.
The rumor she mentions is that touching the church’s emblem on the pioneer shoes will grant a blessing. It seems to have spread quite a bit, and even the guards from the Sword Fangs Legion are struggling to push the crowd back.
In my original world, there were similar tales about relics, so perhaps the reactions of people with faith are somewhat similar.
However, in this world where magic exists, it can’t be dismissed as mere superstition.
At the shipping stage, the church’s emblem is just a pattern sewn into the workshop, but there is a possibility that something magical is done by the church after it’s delivered.
“Anyway, if we can deliver safely this time, it will be a milestone. I’ll take a break tomorrow. I absolutely will,” I say in a small voice.
“That’s right. You’ve been working hard, Kenji,” Sara replies, praising me in a quiet voice.
I think everyone in the company, including Sara, has worked really hard these past two months.
“Let’s take a break tomorrow and have a celebration,” I suggest, saying it with a lightheartedness like a project launch back in my original world.
“What’s a celebration?” Sara asks.
“It’s like a village harvest festival. Everyone in the workshop participates.”
“Wow, so town workshops have that kind of custom. I didn’t know that!” Sara expresses her surprise.
Perhaps in this world, where individual or family-run workshops are the norm, the tradition of celebrating work milestones is less common.
It’s understandable that, without companies, community-level events wouldn’t develop at the level of ordinary citizens.
Well, since it’s a fun thing, it shouldn’t be a problem.
It’s possible that we’ve brought in a new custom, company events, but it’s too much hassle to think about it with my tired brain, so I decide not to worry about it.
