Chapter 112: I Miss My Husband So Much

Are you leaving for the competition tomorrow?

Song Shimu sat on the cabinet in the walk-in closet, watching the tall man squatting on the floor packing clothes. His broad shoulders were solid and powerful, with well-defined muscles covering his forearms.

The suitcase didn’t contain too many items. As a grown man, he didn’t need to dress like a peacock, especially for a military district competition where uniforms would be the main attire.

Yes, you wait at home obediently for my return.

Lu Zhijin stood up, placing his arms on either side of Song Shimu as he bent down to meet her gaze at eye level. His narrow eyes held a profound depth, with thick lashes making them appear exceptionally deep.

Why does it have to be so long this time?

Song Shimu pouted unhappily, her jade-like slender pale arms wrapping around the man’s neck, her eyes filled with intense reluctance.

Lu Zhijin had recently gotten tanned, and against Song Shimu’s radiantly pale skin, the contrast created a distinctive aesthetic appeal.

All the military district leaders will be attending. There are many competitions to conduct and strategies to discuss, so this business trip will be longer.

Lu Zhijin raised his hand to gently caress the woman’s cheek, his eyes overflowing with infinite tenderness as he explained in a doting tone.

He had been on business trips before, but they usually ended within two or three days. This time, however, it would take at least ten days to half a month.

From the moment Song Shimu learned the news, she had felt an emptiness in her heart. She had never been separated from Lu Zhijin for this long before!

Throughout the entire evening, she had been sticking to Lu Zhijin like a shadow, following him wherever he went.

But I’ll miss you.

Song Shimu spoke in a soft, coquettish voice.

She lifted her head to kiss the corner of his mouth, her pink lips rubbing suggestively against his, her beautiful eyes sparkling with a fox-like cunning.

Lu Zhijin’s Adam’s apple bobbed, the veins on his hands pressing against the cabinet becoming prominent. He shifted uncomfortably, his gaze growing obscure and unreadable.

I really want to pack you in the suitcase and take you with me.

Lu Zhijin gritted his teeth, his voice dry and hoarse.

Song Shimu lowered her head, pouting pitifully as she watched the man straighten up, her mind becoming active.

Her delicate white fingers hooked onto the man’s shirt, nimbly unbuttoning it to reveal Lu Zhijin’s firm, well-defined muscles.

Lu Zhijin kept his head lowered, watching the woman’s movements with an inscrutable expression.

He watched as those slender fingers drew circles over his chest through the shirt, her nails scratching lightly at his skin, creating an itching sensation within.

Lu Zhijin swallowed, suddenly feeling a void in his chest that needed to be filled with something.

Then he saw Song Shimu’s mischievous finger hook onto his belt. She lowered her head, the tips of her ears showing an enticing pink as she spoke in a soft, adorable voice.

Then shouldn’t we create some memories tonight?

We won’t be sleeping tonight.

Lu Zhijin’s voice was deep and seductive. With one large hand, he lifted her by the buttocks to carry her, while his other hand slipped beneath the thin silk pajamas to pinch the tender, smooth flesh.

He pressed the woman against his chest, nibbling and grinding her earlobe, his magnetic voice vibrating through her eardrums and striking at her fragile heart.

I’ll make sure you remember tonight for days to come.

The suitcase lay lonely on the floor, containing only a few shirts and black underwear and socks, while the massive walk-in closet stood empty.

The man embraced the woman as they tumbled into the soft bed, sinking into a world of passion under the dim, ambiguous light. Their bodies, one pale and one dark, entwined in a dance of desire, filling the room with intoxicating intimacy.

Song Shimu truly felt Lu Zhijin’s reluctance—he seemed determined to make up for all the missed days in one fervent night. At one point, she drifted into exhausted sleep, only to wake and see a bead of sweat tracing the sharp line of his jaw before dripping onto her chest.

Noticing her awakening, Lu Zhijin leaned close to her ear, his voice teasing.

“Weren’t you the one who wanted to create memories? How come you fell asleep so soon, hmm?”

Drowsy and spent, Song Shimu evaded with a soft, weary voice.

“Don’t you have a business trip tomorrow morning? Shouldn’t you be resting?”

A smirk played on Lu Zhijin’s lips, his eyes glinting with mischief as he lifted her plump thigh.

“I’m leaving in the morning—of course I want to give my wife a whole night’s worth of memories.”

“What if we can’t get up in time?”

“During missions, I’ve gone three days and nights without sleep. One night is nothing.”

Lowering his head, Lu Zhijin trailed a series of marks along her collarbone, his tone seductive.

“I have to satisfy my wife, don’t I?”

Song Shimu began to regret her earlier boldness—her body simply couldn’t keep up!

She had no idea when he finally stopped; she only knew she passed out again in the latter half of the night.

At the break of dawn, Lu Zhijin rose refreshed, packed his things, and prepared to depart.

Turning back, his gaze softened as he watched his wife’s peaceful sleeping face, his eyes brimming with tender affection.

He approached the bed, planted a gentle kiss on her cheek, and whispered his farewell.

“Sweetheart, I’m off. Wait for me at home.”

To his surprise, the usually deep sleeper stirred, her eyes fluttering open as her arms instinctively wrapped around his shoulders.

Her voice was husky with sleep, soft and clinging as she nuzzled him.

“Goodbye, hubby. Stay safe.”

Her adorable, dazed expression melted Lu Zhijin’s heart instantly. He felt a reckless urge to abandon all responsibility, hold his wife close, and never leave!

But reason prevailed. He bent down, kissed her soft lips once more, and spoke earnestly.

“I’ll return as soon as I can. Wait for me at home, and message me if anything comes up.”

Once he entered the base, his freedom would be severely restricted, and he wouldn’t be able to update Song Shimu constantly.

Though parting was difficult, time was running short. Lu Zhijin stroked her hair gently, lulling her back to sleep before reluctantly taking his leave.

Seated in the car, he didn’t forget to message the little man of the house.

“Ke Ke, take good care of Mom and your sister while I’m away.”

Lu Yike dutifully shouldered his father’s responsibilities. Early in the morning, while Song Shimu still slept soundly, he was already up—changing his sister’s diaper and preparing her bottle.

He then brought a glass of milk to his mother’s room, kissed her softly without disturbing her rest, and went downstairs to have breakfast and do his homework.

In the evening, he pushed Chen Chen’s stroller into Song Shimu’s room, soothed his sister to sleep, and then snuggled up to his mother with earnest determination.

“Mom, don’t be scared. I’m here to sleep with you.”

Touched, Song Shimu hugged Lu Yike close, her eyes drifting to the message from Lu Zhijin on her phone.

The two had video called in the evening, but military discipline was strict. Lu Zhijin only had half an hour of phone time, which he used to urgently connect with his wife.

They lingered affectionately for a long while, but before Lu Zhijin could even see their little child at home, the time was up.

Lying on the spacious bed, Song Shimu felt for the first time how overwhelmingly large it was without Lu Zhijin.

She hadn’t noticed it before, but now that Lu Zhijin had been away on business for so long, Song Shimu finally understood what longing truly felt like.

She lacked motivation for anything, counting down the days each day, with her only hope being the moment Lu Zhijin would return.

Song Shimu sighed. Ah, how she missed her husband!
