I’m Trapped in a Cube - Chapter 27
Seventh day.
God said, “Must die.”
As the voice sounded, despair swept the area.
Numb, people obeyed, ending their lives in all kinds of ways.
Some, still hoping, tried to make others die instead.
But it was useless-God wanted them to die themselves.
That day, God slowed the punishment, only urging people on in their minds, not making them vanish immediately.
Some used this chance to escape the zone.
But after six days of torment, most no longer thought of escaping, only of fulfilling God’s command.
They had been tamed.
God’s punishment came at the very last second of the day.
In that moment, every living thing in the area that hadn’t died vanished instantly.
No survivors.
God’s Voice ended. After seven days, only those who escaped survived.
The event was so disastrous and mysterious that researchers could only classify it as a relic phenomenon.
News of what happened spread worldwide, and people gradually realized how terrifying relics could be.
After reading, Mo Ling couldn’t forget it for a long time.
He looked at Li Luo and wrote on the screen, “What you’re hearing now-is it God’s Voice?”
Li Luo nodded firmly, then walked a few steps onto the platform.
“It disappears here-the range is very small.”
Mo Ling breathed a sigh of relief.
Thinking of the phrase “must change,” Mo Ling suddenly had a guess.
Could God’s Voice be causing the Theseus Cells to mutate wildly?
Li Luo suddenly remembered something and said to the cube, “God’s Voice affects different creatures over different ranges.”
Mo Ling suddenly understood.
God’s Voice’s influence on Theseus Cells was so broad.
And Theseus Cells, which had no self-awareness, could be affected by God’s Voice?
Earlier, the Transforming Trees said Theseus Cells wouldn’t obey commands-surely because their commands had been overwritten by God’s Voice.
In other words, God’s Voice had broken their recognition function.
Li Luo quickly took out her electronic screen and recorded this.
“We can’t go any deeper. If we do, I’ll be affected too.”
Li Luo planned to return to the Transforming Tree tribe and wait for Captain Su to arrive before deciding what to do next.
But just then, a long howl echoed from the bottom of the Great Hollow Tree.
What kind of creature was that?
The whole hollow began to shake with the howl.
The roots around the platform instantly snapped, and the car on the platform slowly slid toward the abyss.
Li Luo hurried to drive upward, but it was no use.
Mo Ling could only watch as Li Luo got farther and farther away, finally vanishing from sight.
It was over.
Mo Ling fell, accelerating all the way down.
The scenery kept rising past him, and Mo Ling, trapped in the cube, was helpless.
The cube crashed into a jutting root, slamming Mo Ling senseless inside.
Dazed, he didn’t know how long he fell.
Mo Ling felt gravity suddenly reverse, and his fall turned into an ascent.
The speeding cube was thrown upward, finally landing on a flat surface.
The cube crashed to the ground, and Mo Ling lost consciousness.
When he woke again, he was surrounded by a group of jelly people.
Transforming Trees?
How did I get back up here?
Mo Ling rubbed his bruised head, completely puzzled.
The Transforming Trees crowded around the cube, chattering.
“This is the Holy Relic!”
“Hurry, take the Holy Relic back to the tribe!”
They lifted the cube and slowly carried it toward the tribe.
What did they mean-Holy Relic?
Where was Li Luo?
Following a familiar path, Mo Ling soon returned to the tribe.
The cube was brought to a podium, where a Transforming Tree was giving an impassioned speech.
The ones carrying the cube approached and said, “Chieftain! We found the Holy Relic!”
The chieftain’s eyes lit up. He came to the cube, face full of excitement, and gave the finders a thumbs up.
He turned to his people and said, “This is the Holy Relic of our Qifang Tribe! Now that it’s come to us, it means it’s time for us to resist!”
The crowd cheered.
What was wrong with these Transforming Trees?
Mo Ling realized something was off.
The tribe was full of square totems, which he hadn’t seen before.
He looked around more carefully.
There were no caged animals, and the buildings looked different.
This wasn’t the same tribe as before!
Where have I ended up? Mo Ling looked at the familiar yet unfamiliar Transforming Trees, full of doubt.
The chieftain looked at another Transforming Tree and asked, “How are the latest newborns?”
The one asked replied, “There are many, and all very healthy.”
The chieftain was pleased. “Take me to see them.”
“Okay.”
The cube was carried along behind, into a forest.
What Mo Ling saw shocked him even more.
In the woods, countless trees were undergoing strange transformations.
First, ripples like water appeared on the trunks, gradually softening.
The ripples grew, spreading outward in waves.
Then, jelly-like stuff inside began to push out against the liquefying bark.
Finally, a creature burst out of the tree.
It was a Transforming Tree!
After birth, the Transforming Tree wandered dazedly toward the Great Hollow Tree.
Until a group of companions stopped it, talking to it until it no longer tried to go to the hollow.
Like a sleepwalker suddenly awakened.
So this was where Transforming Trees were born?
Were they born from trees?
Mo Ling instantly connected the dots.
They started as trees, were born here, wandered dazedly toward the Great Hollow Tree, passed through it to another place, spent their lives striving, and finally became trees again.
The Great Hollow Tree was a gateway between two regions!
Mo Ling was now certain-he’d come to some strange place through the Great Hollow Tree.
It seemed the Transforming Trees here were in the midst of a war.
As Mo Ling pondered, a Transforming Tree ran over.
“Chieftain, they’re coming again!”
The chieftain’s face turned grim. “Let’s go! Defeat them! Guard the Great Hollow Tree!”
“Yes!”
The chieftain led a group of Transforming Trees to the battlefield, where several giant lizard creatures were attacking the Transforming Trees’ defensive circle.
With a swipe of their sharp claws, several Transforming Trees were instantly sliced in half.
These defenseless creatures could only rely on numbers, throwing themselves at the lizards like moths to a flame.
The difference in strength was just too great.
