Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

It’s a mistake.

Li Pu frowns, realizing it a moment too late.

He should have answered more ambiguously, instead of leaving no room for retreat like he just did.

Because now he remembers—among those 100+ videos, it’s not just cold jokes and displays of Dabai’s talents. There are also… dialogues where Da Bai imitates his voice and acts cute and coquettish.

By admitting that he personally posted all those videos, doesn’t it imply that he taught Da Bai to say those things?

And now… the fans in the live broadcast room seem to think exactly that.

Li Pu crosses his hands, his expression stiff, feeling the situation spiral out of control. At the same time, the barrage in the live broadcast chat is filled with excited demands: Teacher Li, perform something for us!

They’re overjoyed, thrilled, and completely hyped.

The shift in the public’s perception of Li Pu began with his work “Pick a Person, My Pet Parrot.”

This was the first time Li Pu appeared in a video featuring Da Bai—although it was just a side view, it proved his involvement in these clips.

As for those captions and taglines, some were so shameless that many fans found it hard to believe Li Pu himself wrote them.
Maybe it was just a company directive?

That’s what most fans assumed.

But today, Li Pu admits it: he did it all himself.

Oh. My. God.

One can imagine the scene—a grown man repeatedly saying coquettish phrases to a parrot. After all, to teach a parrot, you have to say the words yourself first!

Teacher Li, who knew you were such an unserious guy!

The fans in the comments were going wild, trying to figure out how Li Pu interacts with Da Bai off-camera, all while greeting the big white parrot that just flew into the frame.

【Dabai, long time no see!!!】

【So cute, sobbing, I want one too!】

【This is the first time Dabai and Teacher Li are in the same frame! Quick, record this for memory!】

【Hahaha, thank you for your hard work, Dabai! It’s not easy having such a master~】

Bai Gaoxing, confused by the fans’ sudden attention, feels emotional when he sees their affectionate comments.

They understand me!

Thinking back to the countless late nights spent editing videos and responding to comments, Bai Gaoxing almost tears up. He wants to vent to the fans about how Li Pu neglects his responsibilities!

Bai Gaoxing flopped in front of the screen, tilted his head, and said, “I missed you~” making the comments section go wild.

Little did he know, Li Pu is watching him from behind, his gaze calm but full of meaning.

The camera, however, captures both man and bird in one frame. Fans immediately notice Li Pu sneaking a glance and burst into laughter, flooding the barrage with a surge of playful comments.

【Teacher Li, hurry and kiss him! Dabai is right there.】

【Go, go, go! (I’m the pushy one)】

【The voiceover is ready, MuaMuaMua~】

The sudden shift in tone catches Bai Gaoxing off guard. He looks at Li Pu in confusion, his eyes silently asking: What’s going on??

Li Pu looked back with a somewhat helpless expression.

Just then, a floating comment answers Bai Gaoxing’s unspoken question:

【If we can’t recreate the “Dabai Mua” video, you can perform something else!】

Oh—that video!

The real creator of the short videos, Bai Gaoxing, immediately understood what the fans were asking. As for why he remembered it so quickly… well, let’s not talk about it. The last time someone brought up that video, Sister Li nearly keeled over from laughter.

Now, seeing what the fans are pushing for, Bai Gaoxing narrows his eyes at the screen, quickly piecing it together from the barrage: They want a reenactment of that “teaching” scene.

Haha, joke’s on them—there was no teaching! Shocking, right? It’s all just Bai Gaoxing’s own improvisation!

Bai Gaoxing felt both pleased and a bit melancholic, and then realized the fans seemed to have… assumed that Li Pu had taught him these things?

He glances back at the man sitting behind him. Li Pu, cold and reserved as ever, appears utterly composed. From any angle, he’s the perfect image of a taciturn, dignified male idol.

But now, no one can stop imagining how this male idol acts behind closed doors, coaxing and playing with his little parrot.

Bai Gaoxing can’t help it—he suddenly bursts out laughing: “Gah gah gah gah gah!”

The comments section was filled with confusion:

【Dabai suddenly made such a loud noise! Is he seeing us so happy?~】

Bai Gaoxing panted softly, trying to calm down, his feathers still slightly ruffled with excitement. He glanced at Li Pu again and couldn’t help but chuckle twice.

It was just too funny.

Before, he had worried that the videos he’d posted would damage Li Pu’s reputation. But now, Li Pu had taken the initiative to admit that everything was his doing—almost like volunteering to shoulder a heavy burden.

Bai Gaoxing felt a surge of emotion but wanted to laugh even more. Quickly, he turned around and fluttered back to Li Pu’s shoulder.

Since Li Pu had endured so much for him, how could he let Li Pu feel abandoned?

“Mua~” He gave a loud, clear kiss.

Bai Gaoxing pressed his fluffy head against Li Pu’s cheek, rubbing affectionately and repeatedly. “Such a cute…” He paused, forgetting the words mid-sentence, then improvised, “person! Picked up and brought home! Mua~”

As a parrot, doing these actions was no big deal. Bai Gaoxing even went all out, rubbing his whole body against Li Pu to show the camera how close they were. It absolutely looked like something Li Pu had personally taught him!

Li Pu, who had been preparing to change the subject, froze mid-action and tilted his head slightly.

The barrage erupted in excitement:

【Ahhhhh! So cute!!!】

【I’m so jealous! Why can’t my rebellious son be this affectionate?】

【Uh, uh, uh, why isn’t Dabai from my family (crawling frantically)】

Amid the chaos, one fan suddenly noticed something:

【Wait, did I see that right? Did Teacher Li’s ears just turn red!!】

The camera caught it—a man with cold, refined features, his gaze seeming to shift away unnaturally, while the tips of his ears glowed faintly red. His calm expression made it all seem like an illusion, but the fans weren’t convinced.

【Hmm… probably not? Maybe the lighting? (uncertain tone)】

【Shy Teacher Li! I can’t handle it!】

【Ahhhhh, so it’s really Dabai x Li Pu CP!!!】

【Wait, what the heck is “Da Bai x Li Pu”?!】

【Ahem, it’s Teacher Li x Da Bai, obviously. Hehehe.】

The comments teasing the supposed “couple” were quickly drowned out by another wave. When Bai Gaoxing finished his affectionate display and turned back to the camera, the requests started piling up again.

【I want to see Dabai say “I love you so much!” hahaha!】

【Oh! Do the one where Da Bai acts spoiled and flies up rubbing his head!】

【Does anyone remember the video where he twirled around and curled into a ball?! Classic viral video!!!】

【Wuwuwu, yes, the one where he ended up rolling into a ball! I need it!!】

It was at this moment that Bai Gaoxing finally realized just how embarrassing some of those videos he’d posted really were.

What have I done…

Overwhelmed, Bai Gaoxing took a few steps back, casting a pleading glance at the man: Help me.

He was incredibly thankful that he had feathers on his face right now. The rising heat was almost enough to set his whole body on fire.

Li Pu, noticing his distress, curled his lips slightly. He glanced at his phone, as if to cover up a smile, then looked back at the camera with a calm but slightly surprised expression. “I’ve got something urgent. Let’s end the live stream here.”

The comments were immediately filled with wailing.

【Nooo! Don’t go!!】

Li Pu reassured them, “We’ll meet again soon.”

【Soon? What soon? It’s harder to see you in the live stream than to climb to the heavens, wuuuu】

【You swear!!!】

【Teacher Li! Will you be able to do another live stream like this again?】

Li Pu answered the last question: “When things aren’t so busy, I’ll try to do a few more streams.”

Oh! A promise with no guarantees!

Still, it was better than nothing. Fans reluctantly bid farewell, some crying dramatically, and in the blink of an eye, the stream completely went offline.

…He escaped really quickly!

Off-camera, Bai Gaoxing slumped onto the table with a long, regretful groan. “I’ll never post another Xinghuo video again…”

Seeing a parrot smoothly speaking human language still amazed him. Li Pu looked down at the white parrot on the table and suddenly remembered that Dabai had probably been fluent for a while. It was just that to avoid seeming too unusual, he often repeated words or used short, simple sentences.

During that period, Dabai must have gone through a tough time. Posting short videos might have been his only source of comfort.

With that thought, Li Pu reached out and scratched the fluffy little head, “If you like it, you can post more in the future.”

“…Really?” Bai Gaoxing lifted his head, following Li Pu’s hand with his eyes. Honestly, he was a bit reluctant to part with his fans. “Won’t it cause you trouble?”

“No,” Li Pu replied. “If we suddenly stop posting, people will think Dabai really disappeared.”

“You’re such a good person.” Bai Gaoxing’s eyes brightened.

Li Pu, who had just been called a good person: “…”

The man turned around, opening a plastic bag on the table to reveal a bottle of medicine.

Quick, turn back into your human form.”

…

As Bai Gaoxing struggled to change back into his human form, his manager called Li Pu.

“Li Pu, about that live stream earlier…”

“I started it,” Li Pu interrupted, glancing at the instructions on the potion bottle. “If I didn’t respond, people might think Dabai was really gone.”

“True,” Lei Li sighed. “I should’ve reacted faster. It would’ve been better if I’d handled it sooner.”

“…It’s fine.”

“Then… how is Dabai? Can he… change back?” Lei Li took a deep breath, concerned about the young man she had seen at Li Pu’s house that day.

“He can.”

Li Pu watched the boy run into the room, dressed in pajamas, and flop onto the bed, then walked over to him with the medicine bottle.

Lei Li let out a sigh of relief and continued, “I’ve prepared Dabai’s employment application. I’ve planned out a few directions for him. When you both have time, let me know which one you think is best.”

“Okay.”

“Ah… be gentle!” Just as Lei Li was about to say something else,  she suddenly heard a cry of pain through the phone.

“Don’t move,” Li Pu’s voice came, sounding slightly stern.

Even over the phone, Lei Li could imagine his usual calm face frowning slightly.

Lei Li’s eyes widened.

“Take the blanket away,” Li Pu instructed.

“Alright. You’re too strong…”

Lei Li’s hand trembled, and she hung up immediately.

***

On the bed, Li Pu placed his warm, medicine-covered palm gently on the bruise on Bai Gaoxing’s lower back, pressing it softly.

“Ha-ha… no… stop, it tickles!” Bai Gaoxing squirmed, hugging the blanket tightly as goosebumps rose all over him.

“Hold still,” Li Pu’s frown deepened. “Endure it.”

“Ha… ha…” Bai Gaoxing breathed heavily, his eyes gradually becoming moist. Finally, he couldn’t stand it anymore, slipping out from under the man’s hand like an eel.

Li Pu froze for a moment, still feeling the smoothness of the boy’s skin on his fingertips.

“I don’t think you need to rub it, it’ll get better in a few days.” Bai Gaoxing, his face flushed, poked his head out from under the blanket. “It’s just a small injury. I’m a man—it’s no big deal!”

“…” Li Pu didn’t speak, only looked at him.

“Fine, then hurry up.” Bai Gaoxing saw Li Pu’s persistence and didn’t want to reject his kindness. He laid back down under his hand again, hugging the pillow as he muttered, “Get it over with quickly.”

“…It might not be that quick,” Li Pu replied after a long pause.

The boy’s unique body was lithe and supple, his glowing white skin trembling under Li Pu’s touch. His muscles flexed slightly, forming beautiful lines even as he instinctively tried to pull away from the wound.

Li Pu lowered his gaze, his palms burning with heat. Wherever he touched, the boy’s skin turned red, as if it, too, had been set ablaze.

Bai Gaoxing bit his fingers, stifling the sounds threatening to escape his mouth. He hadn’t known his waist was so sensitive—what started as ticklish soon morphed into a strange tremor. His body shivered uncontrollably, torn between rationality and the subconscious instinct to “escape”

By the time this “torturous” medicine application and massage ended, the boy was sprawled on the bed, his body flushed pink from head to toe.

“Thanks.” Hearing silence behind him, Bai Gaoxing thought Li Pu was about to continue. “It’s fine now! You don’t need to…”

Huh? Where did he go?

***

In the bathroom, Li Pu stood before the mirror for a long time. Turning on the faucet, he washed the traces of medicine off his palms with cold water.

His phone lit up again; it was Lei Li.

“You guys… be careful.”

Li Pu frowned. “What?”

Li Pu’s voice was slightly hoarse as he answered.

Lei Li’s eyes widened. “Is Dabai… an adult?”

Li Pu paused, thinking for a moment. “I think so.”

Lei Li was silent.

She cleared her throat and continued, “I talked to Peter Wang today. He said Dabai’s household registration is almost ready. You’ll need to sign and take photos tomorrow. Did he tell you? You’re free in the morning, right?”

“Yes.” Li Pu dried his hands with a towel. “What time?”

“Probably… in the morning.” Lei Li regained her composure. “In the afternoon, we can handle some other documents. We’ll get everything done in one go to avoid future hassles.”

“Okay.”

“Alright.”

“Li Pu, you… never mind.” Lei Li hung up, leaving Li Pu puzzled by her hesitation.

***

He walked out of the bathroom and saw the boy, now out of the bedroom, looking at him obediently.

He asked, “What do you want to eat tonight?”
