Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

“So… do you know about it already?”

After a delicious dinner, as bedtime approaches, Bai Gaoxing suddenly remembers something he almost forgets.

That phrase!

How did Li Pu know?

If he knows from the beginning that Bai Gaoxing is posting videos… Has he been secretly observing him? Then wouldn’t all his little actions, which he thinks are hidden, have been seen?

The more Bai Gaoxing thinks about it, the hotter his face feels. He stares at the man in front of him, his curiosity bubbling over. But Li Pu calmly denies it. “I only found out a few days ago.”

Great.

Bai Gaoxing exhales in relief, assured that Li Pu isn’t someone with twisted interests.

“How did you find out?” he asks, turning over to face the man. “I’m sure I was very careful.”

“…There are surveillance cameras.”

With just three words, Bai Gaoxing almost jumps out of bed.

“Isn’t it not there?!”

Feeling the sudden grip on his arm, Li Pu looks at the boy in surprise. “There aren’t any before, but they are installed later.”

“I knew it…” Bai Gaoxing squirms a little, now facing up. “When I first get here, I check carefully before daring to record videos like that…”

Li Pu can’t help but curve the corner of his lips. Fortunately, the night concealed his expression—one can easily imagine how Dabai, back then, circled the room, only starting to operate the computer once he confirmed there were no cameras.

The boy asks again, “So, did you see me using the electronic screen in the living room on the surveillance?”

“No,” Li Pu replies. “I see the video on Xinghuo first, then check the surveillance.”

Bai Gaoxing widens his eyes. “Don’t you never go to Xinghuo?!”

Li Pu raises an eyebrow slightly, surprised that the boy knows his habits so well. “I don’t plan on it, but…”

Bai Gaoxing buries his face in the blanket, sighing. Of course, he already expects this kind of situation… he just doesn’t think it will come so suddenly.

“I’m sleepy. Good night!” He urges himself to close his eyes. If he falls asleep, he won’t have to think about anything anymore!

Gradually, his sleepiness deepens as he lies there, his breathing becoming even.

After a long time, just as he is about to fall asleep, he hears a man’s low voice: “Good night.”

…

The next day, they get up early, disguise themselves, and go downstairs. The agent and assistant are already waiting in the car.

Before applying for the household registration book, they have to go to the hospital for a physical examination.

“Good morning!”

Meeting the two in human form for the second time, Bai Gaoxing greets them happily, gets into the car, and looks up to see the familiar, dreamy look on Lei Li’s face again.

“I still feel like I’m dreaming…” Lei Li slaps her own face and rubs her eyes.

“You’ll get used to it,” Li Pu says, sitting next to Bai Gaoxing.

“True… I’ll have to get used to it eventually.” Lei Li turns to urge the driver, “Xiao Mei, let’s go. What are you waiting for?”

Everyone is in the car, but the car hasn’t started yet.

“Oh.” Mei Youshu suddenly snaps out of it, then carefully asks, “Should we go to the central hospital or the pet hospital?”

Lei Li: “…”

Li Pu: “…”

Bai Gaoxing: “…”

Not long after, the group arrives at the Jiang City Central Hospital.

Since they arrive early, there aren’t many people, and Bai Gaoxing smoothly completes his physical exam. During the process, Lei Li is on edge, worried that the boy might transform into a parrot while walking.

Fortunately, nothing happens.

Looking at the two figures walking side by side ahead, Lei Li deeply feels that her worries have doubled.

“See? Nothing unusual, right?”

Bai Gaoxing hands the freshly printed blood pressure report to the man beside him.

He really doesn’t like the smell of the disinfectant here, so the moment he enters the hospital, he pushes his efficiency to the max, finishing all the tests as quickly as possible.

Li Pu seems quite concerned about the physical exam results. If it weren’t for the fact that they can’t get the report until tomorrow at the earliest, he would probably check the report on the spot.

“Hmm.” Li Pu’s eyes quickly scan the report. The boy’s physical condition, which worries him before, turns out to be fine. It is the ideal result.

Then, there are some details about Dabai’s appearance.

The albino gene carried by the wutong parrot is also reflected in Dabai’s human form, so Lei Li takes Bai Gaoxing to consult a doctor and obtain a certificate to address any potential issues in the future.

After a busy day, the group is ready to head downstairs. While waiting for the elevator, they unexpectedly run into a familiar face.

“Dr. An,” Li Pu greets.

“Pfft.” An Xin, who has just retrieved a pen he’s lost for three months from another department and is holding a cup of water, nearly spits it out. His expression turns complicated. “So… you’ve worsened?”

The psychiatric department is just upstairs.

Li Pu stays silent.

After all the twists and turns, he still ends up here.

Dr. An assesses the cold-looking man in front of him, quickly shifting his attention to the young man beside him.

Even though he is covered up, it is still easy to tell from his eyes that the other person is quite beautiful.

“Is this… “ A new artist?

“Family member,” Lei Li smiles.

“Oh, I see,” Dr. An nods in understanding. “So, you’re not here for a follow-up check, right?”

Li Pu nods.

Dr. An sighs in relief. That is a bit of a shock; he had thought his medical skills had deteriorated.

As if talking to a friend, Dr. An tries to strike up a conversation with Li Pu. “You seem to be doing well recently. Is your parrot doing well?”

Lei Li: “…”

Now isn’t the time to bring that up.

Bai Gaoxing freezes, his heart suddenly racing. He looks up at Li Pu beside him.

Li Pu lightly pats his back reassuringly and replies, “It’s doing well.”

Dr. An is surprised. It is rare to hear Li Pu give an evaluation other than “okay.”

The elevator door opens, and Dr. An steps in first, saying goodbye to the group.

Once the door closes, Bai Gaoxing stands still for a moment, tugging at Li Pu’s sleeve.

“Does he have a younger brother and sister?”

…

At 10 AM, Bai Gaoxing follows Li Pu to the appointment for the household registration.

Peter Wang has already arrived. From a distance, they spot a golden head in the lobby.

Seeing them, Peter Wang’s eyes light up as he comes over with a stack of papers. “Here’s Dabai’s… information. Later, you’ll sign, take photos, and provide fingerprints, and it’ll be done.”

“Thanks.” Li Pu takes the papers and flips through them. When he sees the section for family members, his gaze pauses. “Cousin…?”

“Oh, I made it a distant cousin. It’s easier that way. I can sign as the relative,” Peter Wang scratches his nose. “Anyway, it’s about the same. Since I brought him here, he’s considered my responsibility.”

His tone carries some unspoken meaning. “And registering with my name makes everything more convenient. Don’t you think?”

“Hello, please follow me for the photo.” A staff member from the lobby comes over to lead the way, and Bai Gaoxing follows. Fortunately, the photos are taken in a private booth, so his white hair isn’t too noticeable.

As the boy disappears from view, Lei Li casts a complicated look at Li Pu. “Besides the ID, are we getting any other documents?”

“What?” Li Pu asks, confused.

Lei Li doesn’t answer but instead looks toward the other side.

Right next door is the civil affairs bureau.

Before Li Pu can figure out what Lei Li means, Bai Gaoxing already returns after the photo is taken.

The boy looks excited, his cheeks flushed, and his hat is a little crooked, showing a few playful strands of white hair.

Then it is time to sign and record fingerprints.

Bai Gaoxing follows the instructions to record his fingerprints, then fills out a form and signs his name.

Peter Wang, who has been watching from behind, peeks over and pulls Li Pu aside, his voice low. “This name… didn’t you come up with it?”

The name “Bai Gaoxing” carries a certain charm. The surname “Bai” is simple and easily associated with “Dabai,” making it memorable. But “Gaoxing”…

Seeing Peter Wang’s expression as if saying, “You’re terrible at naming,” Li Pu remains calm and says, “It was Dabai’s choice. And Peter Wang, do you really have any right to criticize?”

Peter Wang is momentarily speechless.

Li Pu walks over to Bai Gaoxing and, taking advantage of his height, clearly watches the boy carefully write the address of their home, one character at a time.

The elegant handwriting carries a lively, graceful touch, making him easily associate the boy with a free-flying bird.

Now that he finally knows the boy’s real name, Li Pu can’t help but feel a bit sentimental, with a trace of melancholy.

Even though the boy has been human for a few days now, Li Pu never asks about his previous name… ultimately, there are unspoken desires behind that.

“Done!” Bai Gaoxing announces cheerfully, setting the pen down and rubbing his palms together.

It seems his motor skills haven’t dulled in the transition to human form—what a relief!

“Li Pu, look—” Bai Gaoxing turns back and happens to meet Li Pu’s calm gaze. “…Did I fill it out right?” he asks, his tone suddenly unsure.

“Yes,” Li Pu affirms, lowering his eyes to check before handing the completed form to the staff.

Once the official seal is stamped on the household registration book, Bai Gaoxing holds the thick book in his hands. The weight of it gives him an unexpected sense of belonging.

“That’s it for me. Now that we’re done here, I won’t be following you guys anymore. I only took half a day off work,” Peter Wang announces, waving casually before leaving. Lei Li and Mei Youshu stay behind.

“Can we go now?” Bai Gaoxing’s eyes sparkle with excitement, itching to explore.

“We’re not done yet,” Lei Li replies helplessly.

The next step is applying for an ID card, a passport, and a bank card.

However, when it comes to filling out the phone number section, both Li Pu and Bai Gaoxing freeze—neither has thought of this necessity.

So they decide to buy a phone first.

“As for money, the salary card…” Bai Gaoxing hesitantly asks, “You have it, right?”

He has been working diligently acting, filming magazines, and doing variety shows—surely he is being paid for that, right?

All that money must be with Li Pu!

As expected, after asking the question, Li Pu thinks for a moment and nods. “Yes.”

He then pulls out a bank card from his pocket. “The password is written on the back.”

Overjoyed, Bai Gaoxing takes the card and hurries off to withdraw cash. But moments later, he returns, looking stunned.

“Is this… your salary card?” Bai Gaoxing has a flash of realization about the long string of zeros he has just seen, and the shock leaves him momentarily stunned.

“Yes, what’s wrong?” Li Pu asks, confused.

“I meant mine…” Bai Gaoxing tries to clarify, “The money I made from acting.”

Li Pu understands and chuckles softly, amusement dancing in his eyes. “I left it at home. I didn’t bring it.”

For now, he’ll have to use Li Pu’s card.

Bai Gaoxing is pulled into a phone store and begins picking out a phone from the rows of beautiful models in the glass cabinets.

He has thought that the money he spends after becoming human is all his, but it turns out it’s all Li Pu’s… Well, he’ll just consider it a loan…

Bai Gaoxing comforts his racing heart, finally choosing a phone with great camera resolution, perfect for recording videos.

He also gets two SIM cards, dual SIM with dual standby! A 50GB plan per month!

Bai Gaoxing can’t stop holding the phone, caressing it again and again, his eyes gleaming with joy as if it’s a new love.

For reasons he can’t quite pinpoint, Li Pu finds himself feeling slightly uncomfortable.

With the phone and bank card sorted, Lei Li collects their information, prints some copies, and reminds them to report to the company tomorrow. She then leaves with Mei Youshu in tow.

“Well… shall we go home?” Bai Gaoxing asks.

“Mm?” Li Pu is surprised. “Don’t you want to walk around outside?”

He thinks the boy has always wanted to wander freely on the streets.

“That was the plan,” Bai Gaoxing looks up, his eyes bright. “But now, I have something better to do!”

…

It turns out “something better” is playing with his phone.

Back at home, Li Pu props his chin up, watching the boy lean in the corner of the couch, fiddling with his phone, engrossed in his new device.

After a bit of fiddling, Bai Gaoxing successfully creates a Weibo account.

From today onwards, he has an online identity—a public figure of sorts. This account will allow him to interact with Li Pu’s profile and build his own image.

First, he needs to give his account a little more liveliness.

To begin, he updates the basics.

His avatar? A snow-white photo.

Username? White.

Signature? Please give me more advice.

Then, with a bashful smile, he quietly follows Li Pu.
