Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Just as Bai Gaoxing feels relieved about his latest discovery, his browsing history gets discovered by Li Pu.

The reason? He’s too happy and forgets to close the webpage. Tossing the mouse aside, he rushes off to find someone to snuggle with, completely forgetting about the still-open computer. As a result, he gets caught red-handed when Li Pu comes over to shut it down—only to see everything.

Li Pu silently closes the computer, then looks at the joyful expression on Bai Gaoxing’s face, thinking that this might be a sign of insecurity.

He has done his best to make Dabai feel safe, but perhaps it still isn’t enough.

However… does this also mean Dabai wants to stay by his side forever?

That night, Li Pu tries once again to let Dabai “feel” him, but is promptly rejected.

“It took me almost a week to fully recover last time. Don’t even think about it before the exams.” Bai Gaoxing crosses his arms in an ‘X’ and moves out of Li Pu’s bed. “Otherwise, I’ll go sleep in another room by myself.”

How could Li Pu possibly let him escape? He pulls him back. After a long silence, he finally asks the question that has been on his mind.

Bai Gaoxing freezes for a moment, then awkwardly rubs his head against the pillow. “You saw everything, huh?” He thinks for a moment before confirming Li Pu’s guess. “Actually… I never planned on going back.”

As he says this, his chest tightens slightly.

When he says this, Bai Gaoxing feels a sudden palpitation in his chest.

He looks at Li Pu and smiles. “Besides, no one is waiting for me to return.”

He has been alone for too long. Meeting someone willing to walk with him to the end only makes him fear that Li Pu will one day regret this when he meets someone else willing to stay by his side.

Li Pu remains silent and simply holds Bai Gaoxing’s hand.

He has long noticed from subtle clues that the young man’s past is probably full of regrets and sadness. Just the fact that he has never mentioned his family is enough to infer that there are painful memories buried deep.

He has never proactively asked, simply because he doesn’t want to touch the most hidden scars in the young man’s heart.

But now…

Bai Gaoxing lowers his gaze, listening to the quiet, steady breathing beside him. He suddenly wonders if he has made things sound too bleak—he has, after all, long since grown used to living alone. He still has teachers and classmates he can see during the day, so he isn’t truly lonely.

He wants to stay, simply because he wants to be with Li Pu.

Just as Bai Gaoxing is about to say something to make up for it, the body opposite him suddenly moves closer. The next second, a hand touches his cheek. He looks up in surprise, gazing into those dark eyes, and then hears the other person say, “I will.”

Just as Bai Gaoxing is about to say something to lighten the mood, the body lying opposite him suddenly moves closer.

The next second, a hand gently cups his cheek. Startled, he looks up and meets Li Pu’s deep, dark eyes. Then he hears him say— “I will.”

For a moment, Bai Gaoxing doesn’t react. But after thinking it over, he realizes—Li Pu is saying he will wait for him to come back.

His heart fills in an instant, though a trace of bitterness lingers. After a pause, Bai Gaoxing smiles and says, “I don’t think I’ve ever told you about my past.” He moves a little closer, their breaths almost intertwining. “Do you want to hear it?”

Li Pu looks at himself reflected in those black eyes and holds the young man’s hand even tighter. “If you tell me, I’ll listen.”

Bai Gaoxing pauses slightly and calmly begins narrating his past.

He can’t remember the more distant memories. In Bai Gaoxing’s impression, his childhood is happy and fulfilling. Because his family’s circumstances are good, in other people’s eyes, he doesn’t have to worry about his future at all. As long as he follows the established path, he can obtain a so-called “successful” life.

Until a sudden disaster cuts everything short.

In his memory, he listens blankly to the comforting words of those around him. The wrecked car, the blood-stained clothes—it is all a nightmare. He is injured in the accident and spends a long time confined to a hospital room reeking of disinfectant. Because of that, he never gets to see his parents one last time.

When he is discharged from the hospital and goes home, he is all alone.

The house is big, and his parents have left him enough wealth, but his life has undergone earth-shattering changes.

He doesn’t come out of it for a long time.

“But my teachers and classmates are very kind, and so are the neighborhood aunties. I often get invited over for meals,” Bai Gaoxing says.

Gloomy and withdrawn—those are the only words he can use to describe himself back then. He was in junior high at the time, and his studies nearly fell apart. He almost fails the entrance exams for high school.

“I don’t even remember how I made it through in the end. Everything was such a mess. But luckily, things eventually got better.”

He chuckles as he speaks, but Li Pu’s gaze only grows deeper.

From an outsider’s perspective, it is impossible to tell just how long it has taken Bai Gaoxing to piece himself back together.

Bai Gaoxing continues, “It becomes even more convenient when I go to high school. Living in the dormitory means I don’t have to trouble others anymore. Eating in the cafeteria and ordering takeout also means I don’t have to learn to cook…”

Speaking of this, Bai Gaoxing remembers the several times he landed himself in the hospital and can’t help but fall silent for a moment.

Li Pu, on the other hand, thinks of how the parrot has been eating meat and vegetables recklessly ever since he first moved in.

“It’s not that I can’t cook,” Bai Gaoxing wants to prove himself, gesticulating as he speaks. “But you know, there are some people… whose cooking turns out rather… dark.”

It’s either undercooked, or suddenly burnt, or the taste is strange; what is he supposed to do about it?

Li Pu can’t help but raise the corners of his lips.

The next second, he pulls the young man into his arms, his nose touching the soft hair on top of his head, and says, “I’ll cook for you from now on.”

Bai Gaoxing shifts in his arms and laughs. “Why are you being so sentimental?”

He moves back slightly, looking at Li Pu, his eyes seeming to twinkle with stars.

Li Pu looks at Bai Gaoxing for a long while, gently touching his nose with his own, slowly leaning down to kiss his lips. Bai Gaoxing is startled, then puts his arms around Li Pu’s neck, returning the kiss.

About ten minutes pass like this.

Bai Gaoxing suddenly pushes Li Pu away with a huff and squirms around in bed.

“…Don’t pull my pants off!!”

…

Time flies by. Bai Gaoxing stays indoors, focusing on his studies, living a life of memorizing formulas in the morning and doing practice problems for the rest of the day.

Since English—one of the core subjects—isn’t much of a challenge for him, he saves a lot of time that would have been spent on vocabulary and uses it for other subjects instead.

Fortunately, the foundation he has laid in the past is solid, and after reviewing for a period of time, he gradually recalls the knowledge points and becomes more proficient.

His daily life becomes highly structured, or rather, structured to the point of being predictable. From the moment Li Pu wakes up to the moment he goes to bed, Bai Gaoxing finds himself living on a strict elementary school-style schedule.

Strict, but effective.

Unknowingly, over a month passes. Li Pu receives several work notices and is once again active in front of the public. However, one thing is noticeably different—no one sees that familiar figure by his side anymore.

Not only that, but everyone also notices that “Xiaobai” has disappeared for two months.

【Shocking, what’s going on? Has he gone missing?】

【His last Weibo post was in February when he returned to the country… Did something happen?】

【Teacher Li hasn’t interacted with Xiaobai anymore. Did Xiaobai stop working at Star Entertainment?】

Netizens engage in heated discussions. It’s just too obvious; it’s like a living person has suddenly vanished without a trace.

【Xiaobai isn’t an actor; it’s normal for him not to have work or post much.】

【But look how active Xiaobai used to be! He’s suddenly gone silent!】

Everyone suspects that Star Entertainment has fired him—after all, even if he isn’t working with Li Pu, he should be working with other celebrities.

However, no one knows that at this moment, the Xiaobai they are thinking about is contemplating the last big question on a practice math exam.

Unable to solve it, he scratches his head.

Bai Gaoxing’s achievements in other subjects aren’t as good as in languages, so he also encounters bottlenecks. The young man, with a headache from thinking, rolls over on the spot and turns into a parrot, spacing out on the sofa.

An unfamiliar aroma wafts from the kitchen.

Bai Gaoxing raises his head and sniffs, drooling as he flies towards the scent, landing on the man’s shoulder and rubbing against him affectionately. “What’s this?”

Recently, Li Pu has a few days off again, and the two are being lovey-dovey at home. Bai Gaoxing is also enjoying his boyfriend’s superb cooking skills.

Li Pu lifts the lid of the pot, letting out rolling hot steam and revealing the tempting ingredients inside. “A college entrance exam care package.”

Bai Gaoxing: “?”

It’s not that he has questions about the thing itself, but he’s shocked that Li Pu is holding a spoon and seriously saying “care package.”

Bai Gaoxing hasn’t been online much lately, only using the internet to look up information and watch online courses. But he has at least heard of the infamous “Changes in Food Before and After the College Entrance Exam.”

A bit wary, he asks, “After the exam… I won’t be stuck eating instant noodles, right?”

Li Pu raises his eyebrows and looks at him. “What flavor do you want to eat?”

Wait… it’s really that bad?!

Bai Gaoxing stares at him in disbelief, his feather crown rising in alarm.

Then, without thinking, he reaches out and lightly pinches Li Pu’s lips.

Gently.

Li Pu looks at him deeply. That gaze carries an unspoken message—one that Bai Gaoxing immediately understands.

Just you wait, probably something like that.

But so what! He is a parrot now. Li Pu hasn’t become so perverted as to French kiss a parrot!

Bai Gaoxing “bleh-s” playfully and flies outside, deciding to study in this form today.

Little does he know that Lei Li, far away at the company, is having a headache because of the recent strange shift in public opinion.

…Where did these rumors that Star Entertainment has fired Xiaobai come from?!

Because of this, she has to come out and post a Weibo clarification in her personal capacity, and also tells Li Pu and Dabai about it.

When Bai Gaoxing receives Lei Li’s call, he has just finished lunch.

“Sister Li?”

Hearing the childish little voice coming from the other end of the phone, Lei Li knows that Dabai has turned back into a parrot again—even though she already knows that the young man can switch between two forms, it still never fails to leave her speechless.

She clears her throat, finishes explaining the matter, and asks, “What do you think? Do you want to respond?”

Bai Gaoxing checks Lei Li’s clarification post, which simply states that he is busy and will be back in a few months.

As for what he is busy with, she doesn’t say.

Bai Gaoxing has always been grateful to this manager for her strict protection of his information. Not mentioning the college entrance exam is also to reduce other people’s attention on him and prevent interested parties from hyping it up.

After all… he is quite popular.

Bai Gaoxing has seen his related searches. Just his appearance, which resembles Dabai, has caused countless netizens to use their imaginations, not to mention that he always works alongside Li Pu when he appears. Combined with the relationship between Dabai and Li Pu, it directly makes people imagine a magical fantasy drama.

Granted, they aren’t entirely wrong! But still, the truth can’t be acknowledged so easily.

In response, Bai Gaoxing forwards Lei Li’s Weibo post and adds:

【Thank you for your concern, everyone. I’ve been a little busy recently. I’ll be back soon!】

The post receives an overwhelming amount of support.

With their curiosity somewhat satisfied, netizens quickly shift their attention to Li Pu.

【Teacher Li, Xinghuo hasn’t updated for two months! When will you be done with your work?】

Li Pu also responds: 【Wait a little longer.】

…Well, they are used to it by now.

Li Pu’s fans jokingly say that this is just the limited-edition version of Teacher Li—one who rarely does business.

…

Time flies by quickly, and the day of the college entrance exam arrives.

Bai Gaoxing’s exam venue is a nearby key high school, conveniently within walking distance.

He puts on his hat, tidies his clothes, and checks his documents and pens again before slinging on his backpack. Looking at Li Pu, who is also wearing a hat, he says, “I can walk there myself.”

He has already been to the exam site the day before and knows how to get there.

However, Li Pu presses down on his head. “Let’s go.”

The journey is smooth.

There aren’t as many cars on the road as usual. The city has taken some measures to maintain quiet around the exam sites, and they occasionally see buses carrying students passing by one after another.

Bai Gaoxing chats with Li Pu all the way about where they should go to play after the exam. He isn’t nervous—after all, this is his second time on the battlefield.

When they get close to the school gate, he stops. “Let’s part ways here.” Looking at the parents crowded in three circles outside, he says, “Don’t get recognized again…”

Li Pu, however, continues to walk with him through the crowd. “I’ll pick you up at noon.”

Bai Gaoxing suddenly feels a little nervous. He nods. “Alright, I’m going in.”

After passing the ID check, he turns back to wave at Li Pu before stepping through the school gates, blending into the steady stream of students.

Li Pu stands there and waits for a while before turning and leaving the crowd.

However, Bai Gaoxing’s worries are justified.

Not long after, a topic quietly makes it onto the trending searches.

#OMG,Xiaobaiwenttotakethecollegeentranceexam?#

Under the towering school building, amidst the sea of students, a boy removes his hat.

His pure white hair stands out starkly in the crowd, instantly drawing attention.
