I Became Famous After I Became a Parrot in the Movie Star's House - Chapter 115
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
Bai Gaoxing feels as though he has just woken from a hazy dream.
He can’t recall any of its details, but the impression that lingers is that he and another figure are very familiar. His body is completely overpowered by the other person, every breath unbearably hot, until a secret pleasure spreads from deep within him, enveloping his whole body. Then, the beautiful scene fades quietly.
He slowly opens his eyes and wakes up, his body drenched in sweat, even his hair sticking to the side of his face. The half-soaked sheets are uncomfortable, though still warm from his body heat.
Bai Gaoxing stares blankly at the ceiling, hearing only his own breath. After a while, his eyes gradually focus, and he becomes fully awake.
It seems to be very early.
The curtains in the room aren’t fully drawn, leaving a gap through which dim light enters, resembling the time before the sun has completely risen.
What time is it?
Bai Gaoxing turns his head, intending to glance at the clock on the bedside table, but instead, he sees the man sitting at the edge of the bed, looking over a script.
“…So early?” Bai Gaoxing’s voice is hoarse, but more than that, he is surprised. Although Li Pu always wakes up early at home, he doesn’t expect him to be up so early here as well.
Is it… 5:30???
The moment he sees the time, Bai Gaoxing feels more awake than before and suddenly sits up.
It’s so cold.
The sweat on his back and the blanket he has kicked off takes away a lot of warmth, and he can’t help but sneeze.
A coat is draped over his shoulders, and when he looks up, he sees Li Pu’s expressionless face.
“Don’t catch a cold.”
In his clear eyes, there are traces of exhaustion that can’t be concealed.
It has been a long time since Bai Gaoxing has seen Li Pu look tired. He freezes for a moment, unable to stop staring at the man, a feeling of concern rising in his chest.
“When did you wake up?” he asks.
“Just now,” Li Pu answers briefly.
In truth, Li Pu has barely slept. He can’t believe he has spent the whole night reading through a love forum.
Bai Gaoxing nods, still a little doubtful, but the discomfort of his damp clothes quickly draws his attention away, and he casually complains, “It was too hot last night. I’ll go take a shower.”
However, when he raises his hand to adjust his clothes, the sudden wet and sticky feeling in his lower body makes his head buzz, and it brings back some memories of his dream.
Wait… no way…
Li Pu watches as the young man, who has just said he is going to take a shower, suddenly covers his face and shrinks back into the blanket, his face turning an astonishing red.
“Not feeling well?” Li Pu quickly steps forward, reaching out to pull the blanket away to see the young man’s condition.
But the blanket is yanked back with even more force.
“I’m not awake yet! Let me sleep a little longer,” comes the muffled voice, as Bai Gaoxing curls himself up into a ball.
Li Pu: “…?”
Although confused by the sudden shift, it is still early. Glancing at the clock, Li Pu mutters, “I’ll come wake you up later,” then turns and quietly leaves the room.
A long time later, the cocoon-like bundle reveals a head, and a long breath is exhaled.
…
Today is the official shooting day.
After breakfast, all the actors are required to gather at the designated slum location.
However, before leaving, Bai Gaoxing is pulled aside by the director to try on makeup.
Frank stares at him seriously for a long time, then turns to the makeup artist. “Get rid of all this excess!”
The well-applied foundation is completely wiped away, revealing Bai Gaoxing’s already fair and delicate skin, which makes his eyes appear even darker and more striking.
“And the hair…” Frank clicks his tongue. “Can it be dyed black?”
Frank notices Bai Gaoxing’s hair color from the very beginning. It’s a white that seems either natural or the result of some illness—but since he is Chinese, it’s unlikely to be the former.
“No.” The response comes from the side.
Frank turns his head to look at Li Pu, who is waiting a short distance away. He raises an eyebrow, no longer pressing the issue. “Alright then.”
In fact, he also thinks the white hair looks quite good. Frank takes another careful look at Bai Gaoxing, finally deciding to keep the young man’s natural hair color.
This is a difficult decision, as in the original story, Noah is depicted with black hair and eyes. They think this color suits the ailing boy’s condition—heavy and oppressive.
But now, he realizes that the white hair makes Noah appear even purer, like an angel about to ascend to heaven.
Frank sighs in satisfaction at how well the boy matches the role, passionately saying, “Now we can truly begin!”
Bai Gaoxing smiles in agreement, but his gaze lingers slightly on Li Pu.
He can’t shake the feeling that Li Pu hasn’t been himself since the morning.
Is it because of the filming?
Or perhaps…
Bai Gaoxing’s face warms again, and he instinctively pinches his palms. He begins to worry about whether he has spoken in his sleep during that dream.
It should be fine, right? He doesn’t have a habit of talking in his sleep.
And that dream…
Bai Gaoxing shakes his head. It’s probably just an image that forms in his mind from seeing so many things, definitely not—
Not like that.
…
The director plans to start with the scene where the female lead rescues the male lead.
At this point, Darren and Nitia have both finished their makeup and are sitting on a small, broken bench by the wall, waiting.
“Looks like you’ve decided to join us?”
As soon as Bai Gaoxing arrives, Nitia comes over to greet him. She observes him closely and notices that there is still some makeup left on his face.
“Yes,” Bai Gaoxing notices her gaze and raises a hand to touch his chin.
“Well, that’s wonderful.” Darren exchanges a smile with Nitia. They have a strong impression of this young man and don’t expect to have the chance to work with him again.
Darren pats Bai Gaoxing’s shoulder kindly. “I heard you’ve never acted before? It’s alright, just watch me and Nitia later.”
There are no scenes involving a casino today.
Since there is no casino scene today, the actors who play the dealers are free, but they all come to watch the first scene, not wanting to miss it.
Bai Gaoxing stands among the crowd, listening to the chatter about the acting skills of the male and female leads, but he isn’t interested in their comments. His attention is fixed on Li Pu, who is standing at the edge of the crowd, taking out his phone and looking at it with a frown.
What’s wrong with him?
Bai Gaoxing is about to make his way over when he suddenly feels a hand press down on his shoulder.
“Hey there, translator Xiaobai,” a voice with a hint of amusement rings in his ear, followed by a pair of deep eyes that seem to be probing him.
The other person’s hand is firm, as if deliberately holding him in place.
Bai Gaoxing takes a step back, slightly raising his head. “Teacher Park, is something the matter?”
Though he doesn’t like this person, he can’t show it too openly in public.
“No, just wanted to have a chat,” Park Jiahui smiles warmly.
If Bai Gaoxing hadn’t seen the cold look on his face during the award ceremony, he might have been tricked by that smile.
“Is that so?” Bai Gaoxing returns the smile. “What would you like to talk about?”
The way he uses “you” gives an almost sarcastic feel.
But Bai Gaoxing’s appearance is so captivating that when he smiles, he radiates brightness and warmth.
Park Jiahui doesn’t sense the hostility in Bai Gaoxing—after all, he has only just appeared recently, and since Park Jiahui has never met him before, he can’t possibly understand him.
Moreover… Li Pu isn’t someone who would engage in idle talk.
Thinking this, Park Jiahui’s smile deepens. “I don’t think I’ve seen you in the country before. Did you just come back recently?”
“Yes,” Bai Gaoxing casually nods, his gaze once again shifting to the opposite side.
Seeing this, a shadow passes through Park Jiahui’s eyes. “Someone your age, suddenly returning to the country, is quite rare.” He adopts a friendly, senior-like tone. “After all, it’s tough to adjust to such a drastic change in environment, and academic credentials from abroad hold more weight.”
At this point, the young man should have caught the hint—perhaps he should talk about why he returned to the country? Spill his personal reasons like a bamboo tube dumping beans?
But Bai Gaoxing refuses to comply.
He smiles, his eyes curving into half-moons. “It’s okay, I’m quite adaptable~”
Adaptable~~
Park Jiahui’s smile freezes for a moment, and he straightens slightly. “Is that so? Then—”
“T’es pas le coussin de roi.”* Bai Gaoxing suddenly speaks while staring at the studio where filming is underway in the distance.
Park Jiahui’s pupils contract.
“Sometimes, I worry that I’m not capable enough to take on the responsibility of being a translator,” Bai Gaoxing turns his face and smiles, “I’ve almost memorized Adonis’ lines.”
“…” Park Jiahui is momentarily speechless.
It must just be a coincidence, he thinks. Otherwise, the boy couldn’t have possibly repeated the lines he had said to Li Pu.
“Ah, and these few lines, ‘You can’t save her at all,’ ‘It’s better to give up,’ my ears are getting calloused from hearing them.” Bai Gaoxing laughs, then raises his voice, “I’m going to find Teacher Li. Goodbye, Teacher Park! Let’s talk again.”
And with that, he slips away.
Park Jiahui narrows his eyes, watching the boy make his way through the crowd toward Li Pu. He sees Bai Gaoxing whisper something to Li Pu, who leans forward slightly in response, clearly willing to listen.
Park Jiahui has never seen Li Pu this gentle, even his eyes are smiling.
In the past, Li Pu had been easy to get along with, but it always felt like a way to maintain distance from others.
Park Jiahui’s gaze darkens, and a trace of coldness forms at the corners of his lips.
The relationship between the boy and Li Pu… is quite unusual.
Over here, Bai Gaoxing successfully reaches Li Pu’s side, and as soon as he approaches, he sees the man put his phone away.
“?”
Bai Gaoxing peers over but quickly shifts his focus to the filming set.
They are filming the scene where the male lead wakes up from a coma.
Darren, who normally has a lazy and casual demeanor, has suddenly transformed into a scoundrel in the role—showing a deeper layer of passion and rationality. Now, he lies on a plank bed with blood pouring out of him, dying.
Nitia, too, is impressive. The cheerful and outspoken girl is now portraying a character full of fragility, like a fragile vine. Her fiery red hair is braided into a pigtail that hangs across her chest, her freckles making her look as harmless as a lamb.
Frank, a director with high standards for detail, is very focused on creating the right “feel” for his scenes. As a result, even a short scene can take more than ten takes to perfect.
“Frank,” Darren weakly calls out, “I think I’ve had enough plasma.”
“Pfft.” Frank chuckles. “Well, you better keep in shape.”
This scene can only be shot in the morning, and every second is precious.
Bai Gaoxing finds it amusing and watches for a while. When he turns his head, however, Li Pu is nowhere to be seen.
“???” Where did he go!?
Li Pu sits in the temporary rest area.
Many people have come to get a drink or take a short nap. He sits alone in a corner, holding his phone with 80% battery left, browsing through posts he wrote the previous day.
After publishing the post yesterday, he browses through other people’s posts and even finds his way into another forum based on their recommendations.
Many people have posted questions about relationships.
He searches and searches but can’t find anyone with a similar situation. Yet, the variety of questions and answers are plentiful, and much of the content is worth learning from. He gets so absorbed that he doesn’t notice the time pass until dawn.
Now, he needs to check if anyone has replied to his own question.
“Seems like the person I like doesn’t like me, what should I do?”—that was his title.
Li Pu feels a little embarrassed. He typed those words without thinking the night before, and now, looking at them, he thinks… wasn’t it too obvious?
His fingers begin to scroll down slowly.
【Sister, it’s not an illusion. If you don’t know whether you like someone, then you don’t like them!】
Reading the first reply, Li Pu’s heart skips a beat.
He glances at the time. His post was made late last night, just around evening in China. Not long after, someone responded.
There are over a hundred replies in total.
Li Pu continues scrolling down, his previously calm mood turning uneasy.
The second reply contradicts the first:
【What’s your usual way of getting along with each other? Some people just don’t know how to express themselves.】
There are more replies:
【Just go for it! Don’t leave regrets in life anyway.】
【You don’t like him? Then move on.】
【Study! Take exams! I’m the coolest when I’m ruthless!】
“……”
As the conversation continues, someone suddenly comments, “Did the original poster ever say whether they’re male or female?”
【People who ship CP are usually girls, right?】
【Not necessarily, now that same-sex relationships are more open. What if the poster is ‘sisters’?】
【If it’s a guy… Bro, are you handsome? If you are, just go for it!】
【Honestly, if you have an 8-pack, are handsome and rich, you wouldn’t have to worry about anything. But I guess the OP’s hardware might not be up to par.】
【Not necessarily. Some people just don’t feel the connection.】
【Hey, where’s the original poster?】
“……”
The topic thread starts to go off-track, and the tone changes.
Li Pu thinks for a moment and then replies to the second comment: 【We spend most of our time together, hardly ever apart. He really likes being close to me, and I’ve gotten used to having him around.】
Posts with new replies get bumped up, and soon someone replies to his message.
【I saw this post last night and was thinking about creating more opportunities for interaction. But you two… forget it, even with how close you are, it still hasn’t worked out. You might as well just be sworn brothers.】
【I disagree! It’s obviously a slow-burn kind of relationship, just one layer of window paper away!!】
Someone from the second floor joins the conversation, 【Hey? So innocent? Any more details? Got any more info? I’m having a hard time analyzing this.】
Li Pu glances at the other person’s profile. They have a high level and seem experienced in replying to posts. He types again: 【He only came to my house this year. We didn’t talk much at first, but over time we got closer.】
Thinking about the scene when Dàbái came to his house during spring, Li Pu hesitates before typing the next part.
【I don’t realize I like him at first, I just never think about being apart from him. It’s a familiar friend who makes me realize…】
Li Pu is good at analyzing others’ feelings, but this is the first time he is analyzing his own.
【I’m sure I don’t want to be separated from him. If he leaves one day, I might never find him again.】
The replies in the thread are full of sympathy.
【Why does this feel like a melodramatic idol drama?】
【Why wouldn’t you be able to find him? The internet is so developed now, just leave a phone number!】
【Wait, he only came to your house this year? He’s not some relative staying over, is he? Girl, you need to think carefully!】
Li Pu’s faint smile turns a little bitter. If only it were that simple…
He types: 【I’m a guy.】
【What about the other person?】
【Also.】
【!!! What’s he like? What’s making you so obsessed with him?】
While typing, Li Pu’s eyes soften. 【He’s a bit shorter than me, very fair, and looks really nice when he smiles. He’s very cheerful, and also…】
He is the light that shines into my life during the darkest times.
Replies in the thread visibly increase.
A user with the ID Master of Getting Back Exes suddenly comments: 【By the way, OP, how do you know he doesn’t like you? Did you confess?】
Li Pu: …?
He replies: 【No.】
“??????”
Dozens of question marks pop up in replies.
【Dude, you didn’t even tell him, how do you know he doesn’t like you?!】
Tell him…
Li Pu’s finger freezes over the screen.
His agent mentioned this too.
Li Pu’s heart stirs slightly, but in the next second, he dismisses the thought.
After all…
“Li Pu! Why did you come here without telling me?” The young man walks into the lounge, panting. “I’ve been looking for you for a long time!”
“I…” Li Pu turns off his phone and is about to explain when he hears Bai Gaoxing say, “The director said we can leave, let’s go back.”
Bai Gaoxing is very worried about Li Pu’s condition.
He notices the smile in the man’s eyes, but it’s overshadowed by the exhaustion.
“Did you really sleep well last night?” After returning to the hotel, Bai Gaoxing voices his concern.
He sits on the edge of the bed, looking up at the man holding the script. Though Li Pu appears normal, the bloodshot eyes are hard to miss.
“I’m fine,” Li Pu says, though he doesn’t look at him.
The man walks about, flipping through the pages of the script as if in a trance.
Something is off.
Bai Gaoxing desperately searches for a way to help Li Pu get some proper rest. Then, an idea suddenly flashes in his mind, and he recalls a moment back home.
Without hesitation, he reaches out and grabs Li Pu’s sleeve, pulling him down to sit.
The mattress shakes with the sudden movement.
Bai Gaoxing stares at the man in front of him, and after a long pause, he finally calms himself enough to speak. “Do you want to sleep for a bit?”
He swallows hard, feeling the blush spreading across his cheeks and ears.
“Hold me….Turning into a parrot is fine too.”
