I Became Famous After I Became a Parrot in the Movie Star's House - Chapter 110
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
Time passes slowly, and before long, it is December.
Nothing particularly important happens in the meantime, except that the entire cast is finalized for the film, and congratulatory emails are sent out. Life remains very peaceful.
With just five hours left before boarding the plane to M Country, Bai Gaoxing checks his luggage once more, picks up his suitcase, and says, “Alright!”
Li Pu glances at him, steps forward, and adjusts his collar.
Bai Gaoxing instinctively lifts his chin to nuzzle against the man’s hand but suddenly snaps back to his senses. He regrets it immediately and pinches himself, then turns to stare at Li Pu’s hand.
Though he has been human for a while now, he still can’t resist the impulse to press his face into the man’s hand.
Li Pu looks at the boy’s actions with amusement, and his fingertip lightly brushes the red mark left on Bai Gaoxing’s cheek.
“When are you going to stop this habit…” Bai Gaoxing sighs deeply, regretting his actions, but it is too late now.
“It doesn’t need to be changed.”
Li Pu watches the mark under his fingertip for a moment before gently rubbing it. A slight smile appears in his eyes.
But he doesn’t say anything and simply says, “Let’s go.”
The wheels of the suitcase roll steadily forward, passing the golden silk birdcage by the living room wall. Their figures fade away as the door clicks shut behind them.
Mei Youshu is already downstairs waiting.
“Brother Shu!” Bai Gaoxing greets him as he walks toward the car’s trunk. Li Pu quickly takes the suitcase from him and places it inside.
Mei Youshu responds, seemingly stunned, his gaze fixed on Bai Gaoxing’s face. After a long pause, he suddenly realizes something. The person who has been leaning against the car door straightens up, now wearing a strange expression.
That is… a palm print?
He looks toward Li Pu, who is calmly placing the luggage in the trunk, but the man’s expression reveals nothing.
Mei Youshu’s mind begins to spiral, struggling to suppress strange thoughts that keep popping up.
With a soft “click,” the trunk closes. Bai Gaoxing opens the back door, only to notice that Mei Youshu is still standing outside. He asks in confusion, “Aren’t you cold, Brother Shu?”
At this time of night and in this weather, anyone staying outside for too long would feel the cold creeping into their bones.
“Oh, oh.” Mei Youshu sits in the driver’s seat. “It’s fine. Just needed to get some fresh air.”
The car is incredibly warm, and as soon as Bai Gaoxing enters, his glasses fog up. He takes them off to wipe them, but they fog up again, so he gives up and tucks them into his collar, pulling out his phone.
It is time for him to start posting!
After some research, Bai Gaoxing has realized that whenever Li Pu starts a new schedule, the company posts on his behalf.
Over the past few years, Li Pu’s Weibo posts have a consistent style—simple and light—but those familiar with the account can tell that many of the posts aren’t written by him.
If there isn’t enough time to post from Li Pu’s account, the agents or assistants post for him, giving fans an update.
So… as Li Pu’s accompanying translator, it is his turn to post and build up some anticipation!
When they arrive at the airport and have time before boarding, Bai Gaoxing snaps a photo of the night sky and adds a caption: “Ready to go!” Then he posts it.
After posting, he waves at Li Pu. “I’ll post for you!”
Li Pu hands him his phone.
Mei Youshu, returning from parking the car, sees this and silently deletes the already prepared Weibo post before walking over to the two of them.
Bai Gaoxing, following the same process, snaps another photo of the airport scenery, copies the previous caption, and is about to hit “post” when a hand suddenly reaches out and stops him.
Mei Youshu says calmly, “It’s better to post a selfie.”
He isn’t sure why, but before the trip, Sister Li specifically asked that Li Pu do more promotional work this time, ideally showing his face more often.
“Oh! Then let’s do a selfie!” Bai Gaoxing suddenly understands, flips the camera, and switches to selfie mode.
…Brother Li probably won’t agree to it. Mei Youshu thinks to himself, already accustomed to Li Pu’s refusal to engage in promotion, but the next second, to his shock, Li Pu nods and even leans in slightly to fit into the frame.
Bai Gaoxing adjusts the angle of the photo, and he feels a cool sensation on the tip of his nose. He looks up and sees white snowflakes drifting down from the sky, leaving delicate traces in the camera’s view.
It is snowing.
At this moment, Li Pu’s fans are completely shocked by the two photos that have just been posted.
After a long period of silence, people start to stir, and soon, someone posts the first comment:
【What the heck!】
【DBQ, I think I’m going to defect.】
【Help, this is real!】
【Ahhhhh, I knew something was going on between them!】
In the pictures, the young man has his arms raised, almost leaning into the man’s embrace. His brilliant smile, illuminated by the night, outshines even the dazzling city lights in the background.
White snowflakes settle between the strands of Li Pu’s dark hair, while they disappear completely into Bai Gaoxing’s white locks, melting upon contact.
And the most shocking part—Li Pu, who never posts selfies, not only posts one today but looks completely at ease doing so.
No, it isn’t just that. He clearly takes the initiative.
Fans who have just returned from Bai Gaoxing’s Weibo are extremely certain. They are so meticulous that they discover many details.
【The angle of the photo, both their Weibo pictures were taken by Xiaobai!】
【Teacher Li bent down on his own?! I’m dying.】
【Xiaobai looks so soft, he must feel great to hug, wuwuwu.】
【Assistant Shu is so unnecessary in this photo (dog head). Can someone edit him out?】
【Assistant Shu looks confused and shocked, hahaha.】
Ever since White appears, fans closely follow the interactions between the two.
From the initial surprise at how similar the boy’s appearance and temperament are to the parrot that Li Pu raises, and wondering if it’s just a coincidence, to being completely captivated by the boy in just a few days.
Li Pu’s social media remains the same as usual—he posts videos of Dabai, and there’s no activity on other platforms. Meanwhile, the young man is active in the comments section of his own Weibo, never acting aloof and even kindly answering netizens’ language-related questions without any pretense.
And the most striking thing—he has white hair.
How can someone who looks like they walked out of a fantasy world exist? Fans are captivated, repeatedly looking at the photos, wishing they could engrave the scene into their eyes.
【By the way, what’s going to happen to Dabai while Teacher Li is overseas filming?】
In the midst of the noise, someone asks this question.
Uh-oh.
Sharp-eyed fans sense the tense atmosphere in the air, and a major battle is about to break out—it’s another war between the two whites.
In the comments section of the boy’s Weibo, the most heated and controversial topic is whether or not the issue of Dabai should be brought up.
Some want to see a collaboration between the parrot and the boy, while others feel it would be disrespectful to Xiaobai.
Even though Xiaobai once responds to someone mentioning his resemblance to Dabai with—“Wow! Really? I’d love to check it out if I get the chance!”—the boy and the parrot have never appeared in the same frame together.
Some fans insist that Dabai is definitely Li Pu’s precious pet and that outsiders can’t just casually see him. Others suggest that maybe Xiaobai doesn’t like being referred to like that but has to politely refuse to maintain his image.
In short… anything is possible.
The shipping fans are even more passionate, already dividing into camps between “Dabai the parrot is Li Pu’s most treasured” and “pets are just pets, only humans can be together.”
You guys… all have way too much time on your hands.
Rational fans remain neutral, saying, “Have you ever thought that Teacher Li might just be a man with a normal species preference, and that Xiaobai is simply the translator he hired?”
Someone replies to that comment: “Maybe… it’s still handled by the company? Didn’t Sister Li help take care of Dabai before?”
Weibo is lively, while on the other side, the parties involved are completely unaware.
After posting on Weibo, Bai Gaoxing hands his phone back to Li Pu and doesn’t check the subsequent replies, just waiting for the boarding time.
However, his wish to fly to M country is immediately dashed.
The flight is delayed due to a sudden heavy snowfall, and the group can only wait in the airport restaurant.
“Achoo!” Bai Gaoxing sneezes and sniffles.
Mei Youshu immediately pours a cup of hot water. “Be careful not to catch a cold.”
“Thanks,” Bai Gaoxing mutters. “Maybe I already have? My nose always runs in winter.”
It’s warm in the car, but a little chilly while taking photos outside, and then he takes off his coat when entering the restaurant. The alternating warmth and cold makes Bai Gaoxing feel like he has been careless.
A warm palm touches his forehead, and Bai Gaoxing freezes, looking up at Li Pu.
“No fever, that’s good,” Li Pu says.
“Then, I’m not that weak.” Bai Gaoxing sniffs again.
Mei Youshu is well-prepared, bringing cold medicine. After Bai Gaoxing drinks a cup of the medicine, he feels warmth spread through his body.
He also starts feeling drowsy.
Bai Gaoxing props his face up and dozes off, his eyes narrowing as his head almost falls, only to jolt back up each time.
After this happens a few times, Li Pu directly sits next to the young man and leans Bai Gaoxing’s head on his shoulder.
Bai Gaoxing is startled and immediately opens his eyes. After a moment, his eyes once again close, drowsy and half-lidded.
“I’ll wake you up later,” Li Pu’s voice is low and magnetic, carrying a reassuring warmth. At that, Bai Gaoxing completely relaxes and falls into a deep sleep.
Mei Youshu, watching the entire sequence unfold, is left speechless. His mouth opens slightly, but no words come out. After a few moments, he simply shuts it again in silence.
This… this can’t mean what he thinks it does, can it?
…
The bustling city that never sleeps.
Las Vegas.
After catching up on some sleep during the long flight, Bai Gaoxing feels more energetic. Aside from the occasional cough, he feels perfectly fine.
The temperature here is much warmer than in Hua country, and as they walk along the street, Bai Gaoxing clearly feels that his clothes are too thick.
But this only makes his excitement grow.
Even at this hour, the streets of Las Vegas are crowded with people. Brilliant lights shine from buildings of various shapes, dazzling colored lights outline the contours of ornate sculptures, and the air is filled with an intoxicating, unidentifiable energy.
Soon, they arrive at the hotel arranged by the production team, which is extremely luxurious and visually stunning from the outside.
And the production team is indeed very wealthy.
They enter the floor that has been reserved by the crew, and in the lobby connected to the stairs, a group of young men and women sit and chat.
It seems they have been there for some time.
Bai Gaoxing’s gaze sweeps across the group, and he is surprised to see someone he recognizes from the audition.
Looks like I have a good eye.
As Bai Gaoxing quietly observes the group, they too are watching them.
The actors, who are discussing who has not yet arrived, fall silent as soon as they see the two of them.
A handsome man with black hair and eyes, his demeanor cold and aloof, stands next to a beautiful young man with pure white hair that makes one think of an elf.
The moment the two appear, all eyes are drawn to them.
The actors can’t help but whisper to each other.
After a while, a young man with brown hair and green eyes takes the initiative to approach, hands casually in his pockets.
“Hello~” He greets them casually, raising an eyebrow and sizing up Li Pu. He lets out a pleasant sound, “Adonis?”
The young man’s name is Darren, the male lead of this movie. Bai Gaoxing has seen him in Dark Material and knows he is a fairly well-known young actor from F country, who has only recently started transitioning to the big screen.
His green eyes remind one of emeralds, and when he smiles, it is like the rippling water of a spring lake, giving off a lively and vibrant feeling.
“Hello,” Li Pu greets him.
“Wow~” Darren shifts his gaze to Bai Gaoxing. “So cute, why did you bring a kid? Is he an actor too?”
Li Pu doesn’t quite understand the question, and his gaze shifts over. Bai Gaoxing’s smile stiffens for a moment as he explains in French, “I’m the accompanying translator.”
Darren clearly freezes, looking at him with a doubtful gaze. “Really?”
Then, Mei Youshu goes to drop off their luggage, and Li Pu and Bai Gaoxing are pulled into the crowd.
Although most of the movie is in English, the actors come from different countries, so not everyone can communicate in English. As a result, several of them have brought translators, just like Darren, a native French speaker who can only memorize his lines.
At first, much of the conversation happens with the help of translators.
Yet, when the others hear Bai Gaoxing’s fluent English, their interest in him grows.
Curious faces gather around, intrigued by his multilingual skills.
But as the conversation continues, Bai Gaoxing can’t help but feel…
That somehow, he has become the main focus.
“Wow, your hair color is so unique!”
“Can I touch it? Don’t worry, I won’t make it dirty.”
“What’s your name? How old are you? Do you have a girlfriend? A boyfriend?”
“What roles have you played? I want to know more about you.”
Surrounded by the enthusiastic crowd, Bai Gaoxing has no choice but to desperately steer the conversation back to Li Pu. “I’m Teacher Li’s translator. HE’S the actor!”
The young white-haired boy is surrounded by the tall and well-built foreign youths, making him appear small, helpless, and pitiful. Li Pu pulls him out of the circle. “Sorry, he’s with me.”
The actors sigh in regret as they watch the two of them head back to their room to unpack.
Bai Gaoxing’s heart is still racing from the attention. He feels a bit awkward from Li Pu’s last sentence, so after thinking for a while, he asks, “Is everyone else not here yet?”
There are only about a dozen people present.
“Yeah,” Li Pu replies. “I heard Frank will be coming in a few days. For now, the actors will get to know each other.”
The director is a very laid-back and easygoing person.
Bai Gaoxing nods to indicate that he understands.
The room they have is a double, and he is staying with Li Pu while Mei Youshu shares a room with another translator from Hua country. The room is very spacious, with a large bed and furniture that responds to voice commands, offering a luxurious experience worthy of Las Vegas style.
After getting everything sorted, Bai Gaoxing looks at the time and realizes adjusting to the time zone is quite a hassle.
Just as he is debating whether to take a nap, there is a knock at their door.
“Are you guys still planning to sleep?” The young man leans against the doorframe, looking at them incredulously.
Li Pu looks up at him. “Do you have other plans?”
Bai Gaoxing repeats it in French.
“Of course,” Darren replies, watching them. “You haven’t forgotten the theme of our movie, right? Some skills aren’t something you can learn just by watching. To truly experience and then transform it into your own, isn’t that a basic requirement for an actor? That’s why we’re planning to go out and explore.”
Bai Gaoxing has a sinking feeling about what he means.
That feeling is confirmed when they arrive at their destination.
A dazzling, neon-lit, dreamlike place filled with the scent of money and temptation.
“Welcome to—the city of gambling.”
