“General, what is this thing? It’s so magical!”

Zhan Chengyin handed him the tablet. “Touch the screen with your hand, try it.”

Chen Kui, with his large, scarred fingers, lightly tapped the screen, and the video paused.

“Wow…”

The generals immediately exclaimed.

Chen Kui tapped it again, and the video resumed playing.

His eyes widened in disbelief.

“This is truly a divine object. We mortals probably couldn’t make this in a thousand years!”

The other soldiers, unable to contain their curiosity, also reached out to touch the screen.

“How was the person put inside? He can even stop moving!”

“I think the gods used soul-capturing magic to trap the person’s soul inside, so the little person obeys commands!”

Hearing the soldiers’ animated discussions, Zhan Chengyin smiled.

He had already figured out how to take photos and record videos.

He took back the tablet and opened the camera app.

Click!

A high-definition photo capturing the various expressions of the five deputy generals was taken.

He enlarged the photo and handed it to the five deputy generals to see.

They all widened their eyes, marveling at their own photos.

“The painting is so realistic!”

“Even better than the best painters in Great Qi!”

“How was it painted inside? It’s too miraculous. Is this truly a gift from the gods?”

Zhan Chengyin said: “Let’s attend to business first. Take out the tricycles and find people to ride them to transport the lime powder to the city wall.”

“Yes!”

There were a total of seven tricycles. Wu Sanlang was quick to get on, riding around the courtyard once before transporting three bags of lime powder away.

Some soldiers didn’t dare to ride, so they pushed the vehicles to deliver the lime powder to the city wall!

There were still quite a few small bags of rice and flour left.

Zhan Chengyin gave each of the five officers a 10kg bag of rice, 5kg of flour, two jin of meat, two large round cabbages, a jar of oil, and several packets of salt…

They refused, unwilling to accept!

Chen Kui said: “General, the food I brought back last night delighted my family. They said even in the capital, they couldn’t eat such delicious dishes.”

“This morning, my family members went to line up for porridge again. We really shouldn’t accept more food!”

Song Duo also said: “General, there’s only one bag of rice in the military camp. If we steam it as the gods required, it will be gone in a day. We don’t know where tomorrow’s rice will come from!”

Zhan Chengyin said firmly: “I trust in god!”

She said food would be delivered in the afternoon, so it definitely will arrive!

Hearing this, the four deputy generals put down the rice, meat, and oil… but accepted the rest.

Zhan Chengyin didn’t say more. He put on his armor, draped on his cloak, held the vase with one hand, and went to the military camp.

In the military camp, soldiers sat on the ground.

Someone had ridden a tricycle to the camp, and soldiers gathered around to look at it.

This object was too novel.

A young soldier eagerly tried to get on the vehicle, unsteadily pedaling a circle.

All the soldiers cheered excitedly!

The soldier riding the tricycle, more imposing than mounting a tall horse, grinned foolishly in the yellow sand!

Seeing this scene, Zhan Chengyin smiled as he entered the tent.

Mao Yangbo, one of the three deputy generals, caught several small thieves approaching the city wall during night patrol.

There were five of them in total, trying to transmit information to the outside. They were discovered by patrolling soldiers.

The soldiers found several bamboo slips on them, written in barbarian script.

Under severe torture, the men bit into the poison in their teeth and committed suicide.

Mao Yangbo found a citizen who understood the barbarian script to translate.

Translated, the bamboo slips read: 「The city has food and water, please ask the King of Mobei to attack the city quickly!」

Zhan Chengyin’s eyes darkened as he looked at the barbarian script on the bamboo slips. His hand clenched tightly, and the bamboo slip snapped with a crack.

The news that the city had food could no longer be concealed!
