Helping with Adventurer Party Management - Chapter 41
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
Why can even poor rookie adventurers drink ale?
Despite needing large amounts of grain for alcohol production, ale is relatively affordable. While exact figures aren’t available due to the lack of statistics, it’s speculated that while meat supply is limited, wheat is relatively abundant.
Of course, they don’t use modern agricultural methods like chemical fertilizers, so the yield per acre can’t be compared to the modern world. My optimism about wheat yields comes from seeing relatively short wheat fields on the outskirts.
It seems that in the past, wheat grew extremely tall, taller than a person. However, tall wheat couldn’t bear many grains because its stalks would bend and the grains would rot. By breeding shorter varieties through selective breeding, they managed to increase yield per area without the stalks bending, maximizing the harvest.
There was a time when I wondered if there were reincarnated individuals researching agricultural technology somewhere, so I searched around. However, all I found were hearsay records suggesting ancient wizards had somehow managed it with magic.
And to get just this much information, I had to donate two large copper coins to the church. Those two large copper coins back in the days of poor rookie adventurers really hurt my wallet…
In this world with a low literacy rate, there are only a limited number of organizations that hold written information. The church, the mage guild, and the noble class control written information. Without donating to the church, you won’t get information; without joining the mage guild, they won’t share either. As for the noble class, well, that goes without saying.
Many merchants can read and write, but they often fall into decline, leading to the loss of records. Moreover, anything irrelevant to business isn’t recorded in the first place.
In this world, gathering information is costly. Those greedy priests at the church really get on my nerves.
