Helping with Adventurer Party Management - Chapter 28
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
However, I felt suspicious.
What kind of battle could have caused such skilled individuals to sustain serious injuries, leading some to retire? How many terrifying monsters did they face?
When I asked, they all wore expressions of bitterness.
“It’s because of babysitting those noble brats,” one of them said.
Swiberry took over and said, “The way the Sword Fang Corps fights is simple. We lure enemies into open spaces and crush them head-on. That’s all. Conversely, cramped, tricky terrain or places with poor footing aren’t our forte. Also, there’s a disparity in experience. Lately, our equipment and tactics have become too refined, resulting in monster battles ending too quickly. Because of that, the newcomers who join later aren’t improving their skills. Training is one thing, but nothing beats real combat.”
Getting too strong and not being able to improve your skills is a whole other problem.
“Our last assignment was from a noble. They’d spotted a pair of man-eating ogres in the forest and wanted us to clear them out. Forests aren’t our ideal battleground, and a pair of man-eating ogres is small fry for us. But the captain didn’t refuse because it was from a noble. And all the intel turned out to be wrong. The campsite in the forest turned out to be inhabited by goblins, and while we were clearing them out, the ogres ambushed us, and one of our crossbowmen was seriously injured. Well, you could say we were just unlucky this time, but we’ve been getting a lot of these reckless jobs lately. The request fee is high, but there are also a lot of injuries.”
“I don’t really like requests from those nobles,” muttered a burly member.
“…I wonder if the captain wants to become a noble,” murmured a scarred member, quietly.
Other members echoed similar complaints.
After listening to Swiberry and the others, I started to grasp the main issues.
After listening to Swiberry and the others, I started to grasp the main issues. However, to be sure, I needed to meet with Captain Jilboa, the leader of the Sword Fang Legion.
“Could I meet your captain?” I asked Swiberry.
