  3. Chapter 377 - The Value of a Business Book

Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

The report I submitted for adventurers turned out to be widely read by the upper echelons of the kingdom and the Church—not just as a business book, but more accurately as a guide to territorial management.

As a commoner, I never had access to such materials. Traditionally, knowledge of governance was passed down over generations, much like a family trade or apprenticeship. Lords taught their sons how to rule by having them assist in their duties.

Documents related to governance were likely written more as family precepts or moral guidelines rather than structured, analytical texts.

And then, into this world where such vague and philosophical writings were the norm, I introduced a completely different approach—one that calculated land value based on harvest yields, estimated maintenance costs from the length of roads and defensive lines, and projected economic growth through the utilization of adventurers. I even visualized these concepts with graphs and tables.

For those with the knowledge to understand it, the impact must have been shocking.

On top of that, this revolutionary text didn’t come from an established noble house or academic institution, but from a mere scribe in the Adventurers’ Guild—an organization with no historical ties to governance or politics. Given that, it’s no wonder it was branded as a heretical text.

Fortunately, the contents proved immensely useful to both the kingdom and the Church.

And so, instead of being dismissed, its mysterious origins only added to its legendary status.

That was the gist of what I pieced together from what Claudio and the others had told me.

“…This is just ridiculous.”

As I let out a sigh, Paperino’s eyes sparkled as he turned to me. “I always thought the deputy’s teachings were groundbreaking! So our deployment here was meant to help us master the Book of Divine Revelation! It all makes sense now!”

“Hey. Stop calling it that weird name,” I scowled, trying to rein in the overly enthusiastic priests.

Casually, I shifted my gaze toward the still-cluttered office.

If they found out there was a copy of the report sitting in there, I wonder how they’d react.

“Just out of curiosity… how much would a copy of that report be worth if someone were to sell it?”

The priests gave me scandalized looks, as if I had just uttered the most blasphemous thing imaginable.

However, Ryk, a former merchant, placed a finger against his temple—a habit of his when deep in thought—and answered, “Hmm… If we’re talking about just the report itself, I’d say around ten gold coins.”

“Ten gold coins!?” Sara, unable to contain herself, shouted in shock before glancing anxiously at the office.

Hey, stop acting suspicious. Stay calm. I mentally cautioned her and motioned for Ryk to continue.

“Yes. That would be the absolute minimum. However, the contents are said to be quite complex, so a scholar would be needed to interpret it. And a scholar’s salary would be at least one gold coin per month.”

“But… one gold coin is ten large silver coins, and a large silver coin is ten silver coins, and a silver coin is ten large copper coins…” Sara mumbled, counting on her fingers.

For a former adventurer who had survived on just a few large copper coins per month, this was an unfathomable fortune.

“Maybe I should’ve just sold books for a living…” The idle thought slipped from my mouth before I could stop it.
