Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

“I feel like it’s kind of cold,” Sara remarks about the conceptual idea I explain.

In the booklet distributed by the church, information and estimates about monsters are presented, and the output consists solely of digital information (in the binary sense of 1s and 0s), leaving no room for qualitative data, such as the terror of the monsters or the level of distress among the villagers.

If one were to say it feels cold in the sense that human warmth cannot be felt, then yes, it is indeed cold. However, the accumulation of that cold data is bound to empower the adventurers.

For instance, let’s say three sets of goblin footprints are discovered when a village is attacked. In that case, the data indicates that about 70% of the time, the total size of the goblin horde ranges from 10 to 20 creatures. The more cases are accumulated, the higher the accuracy of the request details becomes.

In order to accumulate this data, it needs to be in a digital format that is easy to aggregate. The problem is that the ordinary Adventurers’ Guild lacks the structure to compile and store this data. However, now I can use the pretext of creating a report to accumulate data specifically for the Adventurers’ Guild in this town.

Once I quietly integrate it into the management items of the report, it will be shared with the kingdom’s upper management through Urbano. If numerical management is recognized as useful there, the habit of accumulating data will spread throughout the kingdom.

“Besides, won’t it make things harder for the church’s priests if we ask for that?” Sara wonders.

The priests in the church receive education and training as clergy, and they probably deal with various inquiries in the village as knowledgeable individuals on a daily basis. Sara is concerned about whether it’s alright to add even more work to their plates.

“No, rather, I think the church’s priests would find it beneficial,” I reply.

The booklet planned for the church serves as a manual for adventurers on how to request work when monsters appear in the village. It is more reassuring to have a manual prepared for disasters than to be without one.

There are other advantages to this system.

“Moreover, I believe this could generate income for the church,” I add.

“Income?” Sara seems perplexed by my mention of money.

“Exactly. The church would receive compensation from the guild for facilitating requests to the Adventurers’ Guild.”

“Is that even possible?”

“Probably.”

“‘Probably’…?”

“Also, I want the church to collect the request fees from the villagers. Then the church makes an advance payment to the Adventurers’ Guild. The service fee for that advance payment would be collected by the church from the Adventurers’ Guild. The fee for facilitating requests from the Adventurers’ Guild to the church would be deducted from that amount.”

“W-wait, I’m starting to get confused. Kenji, why are you making this so complicated?”

It seems I cause Sara to become completely flustered by speaking without organizing my thoughts first. I decide to pause and clarify my explanation.

“I’m sorry. I got ahead of myself. What I want to do is simple. I want to stop the Adventurers’ Guild from requiring full upfront payment in cash. That’s too dangerous and inefficient.”

At my statement, Sara blinks in surprise.
