Helping with Adventurer Party Management - Chapter 268
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
Afterwards, when Deacon Michelino returns, I explain the principles in detail, and he becomes so excited that he just keeps asking questions, leaving me unable to speak at all.
Reluctantly, we decide to take the quantity and timing of the next delivery back for consideration. As we are about to leave the cathedral, the now-flushed Michelino, brimming with excitement, says with a broad smile, “I think Father Nicolo will call you later! I’d appreciate your help then!”
As I have no choice but to agree, I can only respond with a nonchalant “Uh-huh,” as my best resistance.
On the way back to the office, Sara also brings up Michelino’s demeanor. “Deacon, you seemed really excited. I was surprised. Were you really that surprised that we piled up all those copper coins to make a mountain? I thought it was strange, but…”
“Yeah. I didn’t expect him to be that surprised either.”
The copper coins in this world seem to be produced using primitive presses, and while their weights are the same, their shapes are quite irregular. So, using the copper coins we have prepared, I create a distribution mound based on shoe sizes, and when I do the same with the sizes of the copper coins, Deacon Michelino becomes completely thrilled, making me create mounds with other coins twice over.
I think he says something about the work of God, but since I am tired from trying to meet the deadline, I choose not to listen further.
“But it’s good that it looks like it’s going to be another big job! If we keep making lots of shoes, everyone can eat delicious food every day! The little ones helping out are looking forward to their meals and snacks every day!”
“That’s right.”
Sara innocently rejoices in the busy work of deadlines as if it were a festival.
Working brings people together, and everyone gets to eat delicious food.
For her, it might feel like she’s reclaiming the happy life she lost with her family in the countryside.
“But first, we need to hurry with the workshop expansion. I’d like to sleep in a slightly larger room soon.”
The renovation of the workshop is still ongoing. They’re trying to preserve the original building as much as possible while ensuring that production isn’t disrupted. Once completed, the floor space will double, and the office and living quarters will become larger, allowing for a more normal life.
“Yeah, a bit more space would make it easier for you to work, Kenji. Even though you work late and go to sleep in the next bed right after, a bigger desk would be better, right?”
“Isn’t the point of expanding the workspace to avoid living like that? If we increase the number of craftsmen, we should be able to make plenty of shoes without overexerting ourselves. Besides, we need to produce more guardian shoes for adventurers as well.”
The goal has always been to get all adventurers to wear guardian shoes.
Although the target of ten times the production volume in three years seems distant, if we can double the production now, it would only require five times the volume in the next two and a half years.
If that’s the case, it can be considered a realistic numerical target.
And so, step by step, we solidify our foundation as we move forward.
It is a difficult task, but somehow, we accomplish it again.
I inadvertently grab Sara’s hand as we walk next to each other, and I feel her slowly grip back.
