Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

“I’d like to discuss something with you.” After we finished talking, I approached the priest of the church.

I want to modify what the priest is reporting to the church and have it shared with the Adventurer’s Guild as well. It seems he understands the purpose when I explain the format, so now I ask about the procedures within the church.

“Well, ultimately, we will need to obtain permission from Father Nicolo. The information acquired by the church is the property of the church. Since we are providing it, there should be some benefit for the church as well.”

I nod. Information has value, especially since that information isn’t obtained for free. That is only natural.

“What kind of compensation will be necessary? How much effort do you put into creating these reports?”

This basically asks about the cost of writing the report and the difficulty of it all.

This is a preliminary negotiation regarding how much to price the report. The church would set a high price based on the benefits they gain from sharing the report. In contrast, I aim to set a lower price based on the costs incurred in preparing the report. That’s how it works.

“The report basically lists the names of the treated adventurers, the locations of their injuries, the types and quantities of catalysts used, and the donations made by the adventurers,” the priest explains as he shows me the report.

Although written on parchment, it has ruled lines with numbers listed in the columns. I have seen this format before.

“This is a format that has become popular recently in the central area. It’s very convenient,” he says, beaming with pride.

“Oh, really? Haha…” I reply with a wry smile, caught off guard by his enthusiasm.

Father Nicolo is amazing, as expected. It’s not that the intelligence of people in this world is low; I had thought that this would eventually spread, but the pace of progress is still surprising. I take the report and add a few columns to the front.

“Like this. I’d like to have the injury causes listed vertically, and I’d appreciate it if you could check them off,” I say.

“I see, with this, the time needed won’t change. In that case, it’s just a matter of copying the report, so it shouldn’t require too much effort,” the priest replies.

Since he is on-site and not in a position to negotiate benefits between organizations, he freely says the words I want to hear. While I feel a bit guilty about the priest’s straightforward attitude, I decide to gratefully remember his words for when I have to negotiate with Father Nicolo.

“Also, if it’s alright, I would like to visit the cemetery for adventurers…”

The priest readily agrees to my request.

◇ ◇ ◇ ◇ ◇

The adventurer’s cemetery is located in a corner of the church grounds and occupies a larger space than I anticipated. It is constructed like a stone monument, wider than a large man’s outstretched arms and about waist-high.

I have seen a gravestone like this during my travels in America. It serves as a memorial for those who die in battle.

The gravestone is made of black stone with a beautifully polished surface and is engraved with the words, “Here rest those who opened the world.” The name of the deceased adventurer is also inscribed in smaller letters.

In front of the gravestone, there are several small bouquets of flowers, though I don’t know who placed them there. It’s hard to imagine that a group of muscular adventurers would think to do such a thing, so perhaps a woman close to the deceased adventurer comes to remember him.

The adventurer’s gravestone stands quietly in the gentle afternoon sunlight.
