- Chapter 184 - Revisiting the Adventurer's Guild
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
When I sit still and cannot think of anything, it’s not a matter of indecisiveness or hesitation; it simply means I lack information. Rather than sitting and pondering, I should walk. As I walk and talk to people, I might come up with some solutions.
With that thought in mind, I stand up and leave the workshop, and Sara and Kiriku follow me. While it’s understandable for Kiriku, my bodyguard, to come along, there’s really no need for Sara to join, but well, whatever.
“Where are you going?” she asks.
Since I haven’t decided on a specific destination, I struggle to answer.
“I’m just going for a little market research and sales,” I reply, sounding like a salesperson skipping work.
Sara’s reply of “Hmm” sounds like she isn’t entirely convinced.
Not because of that, but as a temporary destination, I head toward the Adventurers’ Guild. I haven’t shown my face there in the last two weeks. After all, hearing rumors about being called a saint makes it hard to go there.
That said, I’m curious about the current situation of the adventurers. With the church involved, there have been treatments and funerals for injured or deceased adventurers, which should positively affect the success and survival rates of their quests, though it will take some time for that to show up in the statistics.
First, I want to hear the adventurers’ opinions. I also want to directly inquire about the reputation of the Guardian Shoes. Ideally, I’d like to disguise myself to hear the honest opinions, but since I’m dressed as I was when I left the workshop, I can’t do much about that.
Right now, I can’t walk freely around town without a bodyguard. It’s quite a hassle.
Even if I were to disguise myself, having a big guy like Kiriku as my bodyguard would make it clear that I’m not an ordinary adventurer. Plus, I’m currently wearing the armband of the Sword Fangs Legion and the Guardian Shoes.
Walking next to me, Sara stands out even more, wearing not only the Sword Fangs Legion armband but also her unique red Guardian Shoes. There’s no way we would go unnoticed.
The idea of hiding my identity to conduct interviews is something I should save for another time.

When we show up at the Adventurers’ Guild, the adventurers present become noticeably agitated upon seeing us.
“Hey, it’s Kenji…”
“Oh, I heard he’s been dealing with nobles and the church lately…”
“Yeah, that saint…”
“You can really tell he’s born from a wealthy merchant family…”
“I heard he’s got noble blood in him…”
I also catch some titles I don’t want to hear and some rumors floating around.
Well, half of the information-gathering done by adventurers is just collecting rumors and tall tales. Since there are so few who can read, they have no choice but to rely on word of mouth.
As a result, accurate information often gets lost in translation. I don’t have the energy for it right now, but someday, I’d like to tackle that issue as well. Accurate information greatly influences the success rate of adventures.
However, most of those who become adventurers can’t read at all, and those who can read usually don’t end up as adventurers. It’s a dilemma.
A staff member from the reception comes to greet us. It’s been a while, and they say Urbano wants to see me.
I wonder how that double chin is doing. I also look forward to the meeting a little bit.
