- Chapter 4 - The First Service: Shopping Companion
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
Think, think, I told myself. Imagine the party dynamic. Come up with a realistic solution.
After thinking seriously for several seconds…
“How about shopping together?”
That’s the solution I came up with.
“???” Sarah was confused.
“In essence, the root of the distrust is that neither of them knows the price range. When forming a party, they should tell each other what they need to prepare, including the costs. Then, visit the blacksmith, the mage guild, and the grocery store together. Pay, haggle, and ask questions as a team. It shouldn’t take no more than two hours to discuss and shop together.”
“I see!”
“Then, when the quest is over, go around together again. Replenish and settle the expenses. Then, divide the remaining amount equally.”
“That’s brilliant! Why didn’t I think of that? We always just went to the tavern to celebrate after a quest, saying ‘Done!’ and it always ended up in a mess afterward.”
“Fool, that’s because I was handling all the post-adventure processes. I don’t know how things will turn out for the party from now on. Anyway, if you’re worried about negotiations, I can accompany them on the first and last shopping trips. With someone who knows the market and is good at negotiating, they won’t get ripped off, and settling accounts right in front of each other will prevent any distrust. Adventurers tend to get careless with money when they have some, so I’ll calculate the replenishment costs accurately and ensure fair distribution.”
“You should make that your business!” Sarah exclaimed excitedly.
I see.
This time it was my turn to nod.
It seemed I was good at coming up with solutions for others, but not so good at thinking about my own situation.
For now, “accompanying adventurer parties for shopping and settlement” would be the first service in my adventurer support business.
