- Chapter 12-2 - Rose Knight and the Cross-dressing President
My name is Kyle, nineteen years old, and I am the Deputy Vanguard of the first team of the Saint Yeloin Knights.
The coalition of three major organizations and many small groups that joined midway consists of over forty organizations, forming a united assault force of thirteen thousand people that has entered the Demon King’s territory.
However, it would take another two months to reach the Demon King Castle from the border of his domain. Strangely, since the battle with the Demon King’s frontline forces a few days ago, we have not encountered any other attacking units.
The unusual silence only heightens our tension, and the troops remain on high alert.
“Has the Demon King’s army given up resistance? Or are they in a state of premonition?” The president of the Mage’s Guild—the Fairy Buttock—muttered, uncertain whether it was a rhetorical question or directed at the two leaders beside her.
By the way, due to my position as deputy, I found myself at the forefront of the united forces, just behind the leaders of the three major organizations. Normally, the deputy vanguard should be positioned behind the vanguard units; being at the front like this feels a bit irrational.
After all, this is a coalition force, right?
I speculate that perhaps there is concern about the other organizations sending subordinate teams to fight among themselves, which is why all the commanders have gathered together for mutual oversight. But does that still necessitate forming smaller units?
Speaking of infighting, didn’t our “Great Pope” say he would annihilate both the Mage’s Guild and the Demon King’s army? Even though we are all human, the Church and the Mage’s Guild remain irreconcilable foes. The Church considers those who harness the power of fairies, like the Mages, to be heretics; we can only revere the divine and borrow from its strength.
“Absolutely in a state of premonition, right?” President Haihong reiterated.
It felt as though she was alluding to something without directly stating it; was I overthinking it? Was President Haihong referring to the Demon King’s army or to us, the Saint Yeloin Knights?”Yes, I have a premonition that after this battle, I will go back home and marry you.” The speaker was Rebel, the leader of the Rebel Knights.
I thought… isn’t that a death flag? The signal is completely raised!
“It’s a pity I’m not interested in men.” Huh? So Haihong is a lesbian?
“It’s a pity I am interested in men.” Huh? Wait—!?
Men… men? What does that mean?
That delicate and graceful girl… is a man!?
No, no, this must be a misunderstanding! It’s impossible no matter how you look at it!
Since directly asking Haihong would be too rude, I quietly asked Rebel, “U-um… did you just say ‘she’ is ‘a man’?”
“Yeah, what’s wrong with that?”
“She looks just like a girl, doesn’t she?”
“That’s definitely a misunderstanding on your part; Haihong is a hundred percent a man.”
“……” What do you mean a hundred percent? Just looking at that face, she’s completely not a man, okay?
“Hey! What are you two whispering about?”
Ah, ah, ah! We’ve been found out! Haihong has discovered us!
“This guy says he wants to do you in the rear.” Saying this, Rebel pointed both her index fingers desperately at me.”Who thinks that way?!” I hurriedly retorted.
“I do,” Rebel replied.
How can she admit it without blushing or panting? She has sold her soul! YOOOOOOOOO—!
Damn, why is my mind starting to imagine a BL scene of “Rebel x Haihong”?! Don’t poison my thoughts!
“Such a fabulous woman, you not interested?” Rebel made a thumbs-up gesture.
“Forget it!” Haihong looked like she wanted to smack Rebel’s head.
“Sit on my head!?” Rebel was so excited that she nearly spurted blood: “So you like the riding position, huh?”
Why isn’t that part censored? What if innocent and cute people (or readers) hear this? It’ll corrupt them!
Oh, God! May you protect my soul from harm.

“Is the time close…?”
Kyle’s sister—Josiah—lay on the floor, raising her hand toward the ceiling.
Her outstretched hand was cold, completely lacking any feeling of “being alive.”
She thought of her brother and Simon Peter far away, feeling a surge of unease in her heart.”Be careful, the stars of the Inverted Cross are about to descend.”

The sky began to change; the clear, cloudless day turned overcast.
A strong wind swept in from the direction of the Demon King Castle, carrying with it a strange magic power—one that did not belong to any race of “this world.”
Just as the coalition forces were about to voice their questions, a pitch-black light in the shape of the Inverted Cross shot up toward the sky.
“What is happening over at the Demon King Castle?”
“Is that even possible? The Demon King Castle is far away; we shouldn’t be able to see what’s happening over there!”
“But that position is definitely…”
Before the commanders could draw any conclusions about this sudden situation, several messengers rushed toward them from the right flank of the troops, shouting, “Report… report!”
“Our right flank is under attack!”
“!”
How can this be possible? This shouldn’t be happening; we are in the vast plains! An enemy ambush in an open plain…?
“Report!” More messengers came running in: “Our left flank is under attack!”
This is outrageous! It can’t be true!
The commanders were reluctant to believe what they were hearing; it defied all logic!
There were no obstacles in the plains to hide an ambushing army, and there were no lakes nearby for magic creatures to conceal themselves. If it were an aerial attack, it should have been spotted…
Wait, the sky?
“It’s the sky! With the approaching dark clouds, it’s an air raid!”
This was a blunder… concentrating the commanders was a major miscalculation! Both wings were now in a state of chaos with no command, and facing an ambush, they couldn’t mount an effective counterattack!
“Garfield,” Haihong gestured to the Mage beside her, “order both flanks to spread out and deploy defensive magic while retreating to the center.”
“Yes!”
A member of the Rebel Knights rushed over, panting heavily as he reported, “It’s the Peryton! The ambushing enemy is the Peryton!”
The Peryton—a creature with the head and legs of a deer and the body of a bird, often appeared in groups, instinctively killing, and typically ranged from level 20 to level 30.The levels may not seem very different from an average army’s quality, but their ferocity, ability to fly, and quick reactions made them unexpectedly troublesome.
At this moment, Simon Peter also commanded me, “Kyle, lead the second wave to flank the enemy on the right.”
“Yes!”
As the commanders positioned in the center were preparing to assist the wings, numerous objects suddenly descended from the clouds—Perytons!
“It seems we can’t provide support after all…” I reported back to Simon Peter.
“I can see that too.”
With the front completely obstructed and a three-way encirclement… we really underestimated them! Does this mean we have no choice but to retreat?
Not only would we not advance to the Demon King Castle, but the coalition forces were blocked just when entering the border! I truly questioned how Altor and Koro managed to breach the Demon King Castle with just four thousand troops back then.
“Don’t show such a disappointed expression,” Simon Peter said, drawing the Great Sword of Thunder from her back. “That would make my sister think less of you, Kyle!”
“Stop—stop nagging! Who cares what Josiah thinks! I’m not a siscon!”
“I’ll think less of you too, if you give up without trying and call yourself ‘incapable.'”
She raised the Holy Sword of Thunder high, and the thick, ominous clouds above responded to her command, with electric ions beginning to stir.
Thunderous Simon Peter—I suddenly remembered this title; she was akin to a thunder god.
“I summon you in the name of the Holy Sword of Thunder, ‘Donar!’ Anger of the skies—!”
What unfolded was beyond words; countless bolts of lightning struck down upon the Perytons, one, two, three… countless numbers.
She manipulated the natural thunder with human drive, crossing into the realm of thunder element fairies, commanding a natural force only deities could wield!
“Go quickly!”
Simon Peter shouted, “Stop daydreaming, go support the right wing!”
The obstructions ahead were cleared by the lightning, allowing the second wave to pass through.
“Let me see what you can do, Kyle. I believe you can manage it.”
“Simon Peter…””Um?”
“When everything is over, I have something to tell you.”
“Okay, I’ll wait for you.”
I bowed to her, then turned to the second wave of troops and directed, “All troops!”
“Ooohhhhh—!”
The battle cry echoed across the sky, rivaling the thunder.
Watch closely, Simon Peter. I will show you that I can do it. I will achieve victory for you!
It’s not for the Pope that I fight, not for Saint Yeloin…
“Charge!”
