Ning Wanyin stood up from the brocade stool, and Lian Rui quickly supported her. “Mistress, where are you going?”

“I’m going to pay my respects to the Emperor,” Ning Wanyin said.

Xiao Guizi was surprised and hesitated to speak. “Dan Li was already chased away. If you go now, the emperor won’t see you. It will only add to his annoyance…”
