When Zhuang Xiao called, Chi Jianyue wasn’t completely drunk yet. She was aware that Ting Wan was helping her massage her temples, and their bodies were incredibly close. Her head was almost resting on Ting Wan’s shoulder. The proximity felt inappropriate, but it was so comfortable that she didn’t want to move even a finger.
The woman’s intoxicating scent enveloped her, a mixture of various fragrances that formed a unique and unfamiliar aroma that Chi Jianyue couldn’t quite identify. It smelled especially good.
“Hello…?” she answered.
“Miss! Where are you? It’s so late. If you didn’t answer the phone, I was about to call the police!” Zhuang Xiao’s urgent and loud voice echoed from the receiver, causing Chi Jianyue’s head to buzz. She moved the phone away slightly, her mind hazy, trying to remember the name of this place…
With a bewildered look, she instinctively looked to the Mama-san of the establishment for help. Ting Wan, seeing her drunken state, seemed somewhat helpless as she finally took the phone from her.
“Hello, is this a friend of Jianyue? Jianyue is drunk, and if it’s convenient for you, could you please come to ‘kilig’ and take care of her? It’s on Bahe Road.”
Zhuang Xiao stood there dumbfounded after hanging up the phone.
Five minutes later, at the flower bushes outside the ‘kilig’ entrance, she watched as her friend and another woman emerged from inside, engaged in what seemed like a heated argument. Her expression instantly became complicated.
“I’m not drunk, I don’t need your help,” Jianyue retorted.
Ting Wan responded with a simple “okay,” but as she saw Jianyue’s unsteady steps, about to stumble and fall the next second, she reached out and grabbed her shoulder.
Drunk people never make sense, and the intoxicated Jianyue, being a young miss, was even more temperamental. She shook off the woman’s hand, feeling annoyed by the lingering scent that seemed to bother her, wanting to keep her distance.
Ting Wan, of course, couldn’t let her fall right outside her own establishment. Despite Jianyue’s resistance, Ting Wan held onto her gently. Suddenly, Jianyue stopped and furrowed her brows, looking at Ting Wan intently. “You’re so annoying,” she said.
Her voice, sticky with alcohol, unintentionally took on a coquettish tone.
Ting Wan understood better than anyone that there was no need to take a drunk person’s words seriously. However, she still paused for a moment, her expression momentarily stiff. Zhuang Xiao hurriedly approached, taking Jianyue and apologizing, “Sorry about that. She’s like this when she drinks too much.”
Ting Wan quickly put on a smile again and spoke softly, “It’s alright. She’s drunk, so it’s best for her to drink some honey water when she gets home to prevent a headache tomorrow.”
Such thoughtful service. Zhuang Xiao silently admired the stunning woman in front of her, expressing her gratitude and then ushering Jianyue away with the help of their friends.
As she watched them until they disappeared into the distance, Ting Wan turned around and prepared to return to the shop to continue her work. But out of the corner of her eye, she suddenly caught sight of something shiny on the ground. She picked it up and discovered it was Chi Jianyue’s long earring, most likely dropped during their struggle earlier.
She kept it safe, unsure if she would have another chance to return it to its owner.
“Ting Wan Mama, the guest earlier left behind a bottle of Louis XIII…” as soon as she entered the shop, the bartender approached with the half-empty bottle in his hand.
Alcohol at this price was expensive, so any unfinished drinks would be labeled with the person’s name and stored in the shop.
“I’ll take care of it,” Ting Wan replied, taking the bottle.
Chi Jianyue…
After hesitating for a moment, remembering the way Chi Jianyue’s friend addressed her on the phone, a playful smile appeared in Ting Wan’s eyes. Finally, she wrote the words “Young Miss” on the tag.
The tag dangled from the neck of the bottle as it was placed in the liquor cabinet, patiently awaiting its owner’s next visit.

On the surface, Jianyue said, “You’re so annoying,” but in reality, Ting Wan couldn’t help but be captivated by her intoxicating scent.
I wonder if anyone noticed the foreshadowing.
