In the second half of her senior year, Chi Jianyue had fewer classes. The Finance Department at N University had a reputation nationwide and held high prestige. By senior year, many people had already left school for internships or to start their own businesses. Her future had already been planned out, with a clear arrangement for her to join the Chi family after graduation.

Although she had moved back to Ting Wan’s house, Chi Jianyue had classes during the day while Ting Wan worked at night. The only time they could spend together was when Chi Jianyue had no classes and stayed home.

After the autumn equinox, the scorching summer sun gradually faded away, giving Ting Wan’s flowers a chance to breathe. The sunshade at the door was put away, perhaps because of the effect of Chi Jianyue’s words last time, where she mentioned the pitiful sight of a girl alone at home. Ting Wan decided to postpone her time at the shop.

It was somewhat ridiculous that Chi Jianyue even felt jealous of the flowers.

“Why does Ting Wan like flowers so much?” Chi Jianyue asked.

“People always long for beautiful things,” Ting Wan replied with a somewhat melancholic expression, as if reminiscing.

Ting Wan loved everything beautiful, whether it was people or objects. This was reflected in every aspect of her life, from her taste in fashion to the selection of ‘kilig’ staff.

After the popularity of ‘Garden’ died down, ‘kilig’ business picked up and became even more lively than before. The girls in the shop were overwhelmed, so Ting Wan had to post a job listing. This was the first time since ‘kilig’ had rebranded from ‘夜色’ to ‘kilig’ that they openly recruited new staff.

She sat in the living room with her computer, screening resumes. Chi Jianyue, with a hint of sarcasm in her tone, commented from the side, “I didn’t expect Ting Wan Mama to be part of the Beauty Committee.”

In the end, the most beautiful ones were the ones left.

Ting Wan looked innocent and asked, “Why would you say that?”

“Well, this applicant has the most experience and outstanding performance in her previous job. Why did you pass on her?” Chi Jianyue questioned.

The resume was indeed impressive, but…

“‘kilig’ is different from other bars. Men are visual creatures. There are more suitable candidates for this position,” Ting Wan replied, with a hint of pride in her voice.

“Hmph, you too,” Chi Jianyue retorted.

It took a moment for Ting Wan to realize which part Chi Jianyue was referring to. She chuckled and admitted candidly, “Well, I am too.”

How could there be a woman like her!

Chi Jianyue furrowed her brows and bit her lip. She was about to get angry and leave when Ting Wan continued, “That’s why I really like you, Jianyue.”

Ting Wan’s eyes sparkled mischievously, and Chi Jianyue realized she had been teased once again.

During their time together, Chi Jianyue had come to understand the hidden K❤nky side beneath Ting Wan’s elegant appearance.

Although it was amusing, Chi Jianyue knew when to stop. If Ting Wan continued with this level of teasing, it would cross the line.

In reality, their relationship was nothing more than that.

Ting Wan personally took charge of training the new girl, teaching her the necessary skills and how to interact with customers. It had been a while since she had trained someone new, so she put a lot of effort into it. Most of the current ‘kilig’ girls were those who had stayed from before, and a few were “picked up” by Ting Wan through various means. For example, Lan Ling had come as a customer with a group of friends. Since female customers were scarce at ‘kilig’, Ting Wan paid extra attention. Lan Ling came in perfectly fine but left completely unconscious. Ting Wan didn’t believe the excuse of being drunk, so she threatened to call the police and took Lan Ling home. Later, Lan Ling confessed that she was in a difficult situation and wanted to earn more money, so Ting Wan let her stay at the shop.

Being a hostess was not easy for most women, and Ting Wan herself had received help from the former Mama-san. She wanted to do her best to help others. Newcomers didn’t know many things and needed assistance at every step. One day, when Ting Wan returned home after a busy day, she noticed that Chi Jianyue was nowhere to be found.

She was about to call and ask when she realized she hadn’t seen the message Chi Jianyue had sent in the afternoon.

“I’m leaving.”

Leaving?

Searching her memory, Ting Wan vaguely recalled that before the October holiday, Chi Jianyue had asked if she wanted to go on a trip together. Ting Wan never had vacations, let alone with a new girl just joining the shop. She casually declined. Chi Jianyue didn’t bring it up again, so Ting Wan didn’t think much of it. But now, she suddenly left.

Chi Jianyue always loved to sleep on the couch, waiting for Ting Wan to come back from work. Even though Ting Wan had told her many times not to wait and even stopped waiting, she would still leave a light on in the living room. In her own words, having someone waiting for you at home was a happy thing, but Ting Wan had been used to being alone for so many years that she didn’t see it that way.

Now, in the pitch-black living room, Ting Wan felt a sense of emptiness in the home she had lived in alone for years. She seemed to understand what Chi Jianyue had meant. Having someone waiting for you was indeed a blissful thing.
