After the night of their late-night snack, everything went back to normal with no apparent differences. Zhuang Xiao looked at her friend, who seemed to be sinking deeper into the swamp, feeling deeply helpless. Trying to convince Chi Jianyue was impossible, especially considering that this desire had, in a sense, originated from her own actions. She now regretted it immensely.

Fortunately, Chi Jianyue hadn’t completely lost herself. With the approaching final exams, she focused on studying and reduced her visits to “kilig.” Most of her time was spent in the library.

Saturdays at “kilig” were always the busiest, with the highest number of customers. Of course, Ting Wan was the busiest of all. Whether they were new or regular customers, most people specifically requested her. As a result, Ting Wan didn’t have a moment of rest throughout the night.

“Welcome to ‘kilig’—” Lan Ling was somewhat surprised to see Chi Jianyue. She hadn’t been to “kilig” for several days, and Lan Ling thought she had finally given up on Ting Wan’s neglect. However, she quickly adjusted her expression and greeted her warmly, “Miss Chi, have you been busy lately?”

Chi Jianyue was familiar with “kilig” from her frequent visits, so she replied, “Yes, I’ve been studying for exams.”

To Lan Ling’s surprise, she was still a student! This woman standing before her with her wavy hair and black strapless miniskirt had never been associated with academia in Lan Ling’s mind.

“Same spot as usual? Do you need someone to accompany you?”

Today, the shop was packed with customers, and Chi Jianyue watched as Ting Wan sat among the crowd, completely oblivious to the new customer at the door. “No need, a bottle of Royal Salute, put it on Ting Wan Mama’s tab.”

“Alright, please wait a moment.”

Lan Ling led her to a seat and then went over to Ting Wan, saying something to her. Ting Wan looked over and saw Chi Jianyue smiling and nodding in acknowledgment. She then averted her gaze and continued playing drinking games with the people around her.

The bartender brought the bottle of liquor, and Chi Jianyue poured herself a glass. She wasn’t much of a drinker, usually just holding the glass without actually consuming it when Ting Wan wasn’t around. But tonight, perhaps due to the lively atmosphere in the shop or the intense smiles exchanged between Ting Wan and the customers during their games, she sipped the drink in small sips. The alcohol slid down her throat, causing a burning sensation in her stomach. In her intoxicated state, many of her emotions didn’t feel as prominent.

The male guest Ting Wan was entertaining at the table was a first-time visitor to “kilig.” They had ordered a lot of drinks and used the pretext of playing games to continuously try to get Miss Chi drunk. Ting Wan’s companion at the table was the youngest sister in the shop, and Ting Wan took care of her, shielding her from a lot of the pressure.

Although they were supposedly playing a game, the men at the table exchanged knowing glances, which Ting Wan noticed and understood.

“Haha, the little sister lost again, drink up!”

“Ting Wan Mama…” The girl looked to Ting Wan for help, unable to drink anymore. Ting Wan comfortingly patted her hand and picked up the glass with a helpless smile. “Mr. Su, please don’t bully our little sister in the shop. I’ll drink this one for her.”

Mr. Su, the man who had been the most boisterous, looked at the glass in Ting Wan’s hand with a teasing smile. “Ting Wan Mama is so gentle. But it’s not fair. Look, the glasses used by your staff are so much smaller than ours. Shouldn’t you have to drink two glasses to make it fair?”

“That’s right.”

“Ting Wan Mama, drink two glasses!” The people around them cheered in unison.

Ting Wan smiled calmly, “The customers use big glasses, and we use small glasses, it has always been like this, it’s a rule in the shop.”

“Oh? Rules…” The man leaned closer, he had been intentionally getting closer all along, and now he was practically next to Ting Wan, his hands wandering and reaching around her waist. “I wonder if ‘kilig’ has any other… rules?”

As he spoke, his hands, with ill intentions, pinched Ting Wan’s waist. Ting Wan slightly frowned, wanting to push him away, but the man had a strong grip on her waist, causing her pain. Ting Wan suppressed her impatience, forcing a smile while discreetly signaling the worried girl nearby with her eyes, instructing her to get the bartender. It wasn’t the first time the shop had encountered such a situation. Men who had been drinking would do anything. If the customer’s behavior became too egregious, the bartender would be asked to escort them out.

Upon witnessing his behavior, the people around them became more boisterous, seemingly giving the man more courage. He laughed even more audaciously, leaning closer to Ting Wan’s ear and saying, “If I buy Ting Wan Mama, do I not have to follow these… rules anymore?”

Before he could finish his sentence, accompanied by the gasps of his companions, a glass filled with ice cubes crashed onto his face.

“Who do you think you are?”

The man stood still for a moment, stunned by the sudden turn of events. After regaining his composure, he wiped the alcohol off his face and cursed, “Who the f❤ck do you think you are?”

“Remove your dirty hands.”

Everyone was frozen in place due to the unexpected turn of events. The man now noticed the woman in front of him, still holding a glass in her hand. “Who are you? Why should I listen to you?”

“Jianyue!” Ting Wan hurriedly called out.

Chi Jianyue poured another glass of alcohol on his face. “The same words, I don’t want to say them twice.”

The commotion attracted the attention of everyone in the shop. All eyes were on the man, who looked embarrassed and furious. He stood up, fueled by the alcohol in his system, disregarding the consequences. He cursed and grabbed a bottle, intending to throw it at Chi Jianyue.

Ting Wan watched helplessly as the distance between them closed, her heart pounding. However, Chi Jianyue calmly crossed her arms and didn’t move an inch. A mocking smile played on her lips. “Su Changsheng, if you want to stay in N City, I advise you to sober up and take a good look at who I am.”

“Su-ge!” One of the people nearby rushed forward and held his arm. “This is Ojou-sama!”

The Chi family’s business empire is vast, with its presence in various industries throughout N City. These people are employees of the Chi Group’s real estate company. Su Changsheng is a manager. The reason Chi Jianyue recognized him was because he personally handled the delivery of the residential complex where she currently resides and they had met before.

It’s hard to believe that this man, who used to show her such respect, has this side to him in private. Truly a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

“O-Ojou-sama?” Su Changsheng sobered up instantly, recognizing the somewhat familiar face in front of him. He awkwardly put down the bottle in his hand, feeling remorseful. “I’m sorry! I-I had too much to drink… Please don’t take it to heart!”

He wanted to say something more to salvage the situation, but the bartender had already come over, holding his arm and escorting him out of the shop.

Ting Wan composed herself and immediately apologized to the startled customers in the shop. “I’m sorry, everyone. There was a small altercation just now, and I apologize for any discomfort it may have caused. Tonight’s expenses are on the house, and I hope you all have a pleasant evening at ‘kilig’.”

The customers’ dissatisfaction quickly turned into a forgotten incident. Ting Wan went from table to table, comforting the customers, before finally approaching Chi Jianyue.

“Ting Wan…” Chi Jianyue looked at her, wanting to say something but hesitating.

Ting Wan didn’t pour her a drink and her face didn’t display the usual smile. “You shouldn’t have done that earlier.”

“If I didn’t do that, would that man have continued harassing you?” Chi Jianyue’s heart still held anger as she recalled the scene she witnessed earlier.

“If I told you that this kind of thing happens frequently, would you come over every time and splash them with a drink? How will the shop continue to do business if you do that?” Ting Wan’s tone carried an unprecedented sharpness. “I am the Mama-san of this shop, and naturally, I have my own way of handling things.”

“What way?” Chi Jianyue looked at her in disbelief, feeling a chill from the unfamiliar coldness in her eyes. She couldn’t believe that her well-intentioned intervention was being turned against her, as if it was affecting the business. The woman’s distant address further chilled her heart.

“Miss Chi.”

Ting Wan seemed oblivious to the mist that started to form in the woman’s eyes, continuing mercilessly, “You are just a customer at ‘kilig’. Even if your status is noble, you should consider your own safety. Don’t meddle in other people’s affairs next time. Not every time can be handled like this…”

A gust of wind swept by, lifting a few strands of hair.

Ting Wan wanted to say “lucky,” as the image of Su Changsheng preparing to strike Chi Jianyue was still fresh in her mind. But it didn’t matter anymore. There was no sign of Chi Jianyue by her side.
