Chi Jianyue woke up on the pristine white bed of the hotel, the sheets in disarray. There was no sign of the woman next to her, only the indentation on the pillow to prove that she had indeed slept here last night.

Opening her phone, she realized it was almost noon. Chi Jianyue struggled to get up, her body feeling weak and exhausted, as if she had been up all night… She felt incredibly tired now, but she hadn’t forgotten about her classes in the afternoon. Waking up without seeing Ting Wan made her feel a sense of loss, which was really unfortunate. She attempted to look for a note left by someone on the table, just like they do in movies or novels… but it was a disappointing endeavor.

It was definitely too late to go back and change clothes now. Chi Jianyue made do with wearing yesterday’s outfit and walked into the living room, where she spotted Ting Wan’s figure on the balcony.

She approached, and Ting Wan heard the sound, extinguishing the cigarette in her hand and turning around. Perhaps she was afraid of the smell of smoke, as she stood inside the balcony without coming out. Her expression was calm and somewhat unfamiliar. “You’re awake,” she said in a flat tone.

Seeing her again, Chi Jianyue couldn’t help but recall the various details from the night before. A blush rose on her cheeks, accompanied by a sense of shyness. But there were too many emotions overwhelming her, urging her to say something.

“Ting Wan…” she called out the woman’s name, but before she could gather her thoughts, Ting Wan’s face broke into a smile, and she spoke in a tone that contrasted with her calm demeanor. “You should go to class now.”

With all the unsaid words trapped inside her, Chi Jianyue was left dazed. But Ting Wan had already turned away, giving the impression that she didn’t want to engage in further conversation.

The warmth that was once burning in her heart suddenly cooled down.
