Chapter 105 – Extra 4: Pregnancy (1)

Ever since Sheng Yunze had his first taste of intimacy, he spent all his free time circling around Duan Yi.

At first, Duan Yi found it amusing, reveling in his youth and good health as Sheng Yunze coaxed him into endless nights of reckless passion.

But eventually, he couldn’t take it anymore. He couldn’t understand how Sheng Yunze’s curiosity and desire could persist for so long, constantly inventing new ways to pleasure him. After a while, Duan Yi insisted they live apart, declaring that if this continued, he might as well drop out of university and go home to raise a child.

The last part was just a bluff. Duan Yi had no intention of having children before finishing his degree.

Moreover, getting pregnant out of wedlock would give Duan Ji Huai an excuse to beat him senseless, and Duan Yi wasn’t ready to challenge his father’s authority. So he dutifully took his birth control pills every day.

But…

Whether or not such a thing happens isn’t entirely up to the two people involved.

Given Sheng Yunze’s reckless passion and the fact that they were together almost constantly outside of school, it was only a matter of time before they conceived. The inevitable occurred during their third year abroad, when Duan Yi was a senior.

In November, Sheng Yunze received an invitation from a highly respected physics professor in China to collaborate on a research project after returning home. Duan Yi had no idea what the project was about.

When Duan Yi visited Sheng Yunze’s study to check on the project, he saw a thick stack of files written entirely in English. He secretly grumbled to himself, Why is everything written in English? Is this just for the encrypted files?

However, due to complications with Duan Yi’s graduation project, their return to China was delayed from November to December.

Xiaoduan Mom missed him terribly. After much deliberation and discussion with Sheng Yunze, Duan Yi changed their flight to Shanghai. A driver would pick them up there, allowing them to meet Xiaoduan Mom sooner.

Another reason for the delay was Milk Tea, the snow-white Samoyed Duan Yi had adopted in Britain. Sheng Yunze had given him the dog for his sophomore birthday, and after two years of raising him, their bond was deep. Bringing Milk Tea back to China required completing some paperwork, which further delayed their return.

Milk Tea was Duan Yi’s own beloved dog, who treated him like a mother, showering him with affection all day long. During the long flight, Duan Yi kept fretting about Milk Tea, promising to give him a big hug as soon as they landed.

Sheng Yunze teased him, “You’re not even this affectionate with your own son!” Duan Yi retorted, “I don’t even have a son!”

After the grueling journey, Duan Yi finally reunited with Milk Tea at the domestic airport. He had imagined a dramatic, earth-shattering embrace and kisses, but as Milk Tea sprinted toward him, he gradually slowed down, merely circling Duan Yi’s legs a few times to show affection—a stark contrast to his usual behavior.

Duan Yi was immediately puzzled. Milk Tea had always been fiercely enthusiastic; whenever Duan Yi returned home, the dog would burst out of the house the moment he stepped into the garden, refusing to stop until he had tackled Duan Yi to the ground.

Sheng Yunze glanced over, secretly pleased.

He had never liked Milk Tea anyway. The dog lacked all sense of propriety, barging into their bedroom every night and insisting on jumping onto the bed to sleep with Duan Yi.

Now that the dog had learned to recognize what was best for it, Sheng Yunze thought it was finally teachable and not too late to train.

Xiaoduan Mom had arranged for the housekeeper to prepare a lavish feast at home, a table laden with Duan Yi’s favorite dishes.

Duan Ji Huai even made a special trip home to celebrate Duan Yi’s return.

But as soon as Duan Yi stepped out of the car and saw the overflowing table, he felt nauseous rather than hungry.

Not wanting to dampen Xiaoduan Mom’s enthusiasm, he forced down a few mouthfuls like a stuffed duck, leaving his stomach churning in agony.

After lunch, Duan Ji Huai and Sheng Yunze sat on the sofa discussing political news that bored Duan Yi to tears. Duan Yi slipped away to the bathroom and vomited up the entire meal.

Even after emptying his stomach, the sour, burning sensation lingered. Still in his slippers, Duan Yi rummaged through the downstairs refrigerator until he found some yogurt. His mouth watered incessantly; the yogurt, which usually tasted quite tart, now seemed bland.

Milk Tea, after wandering around the house a few times, obediently settled at Duan Yi’s feet, resting its head on his lower abdomen as if guarding something precious.

Duan Yi was watching cartoons on the bedroom TV, completely absorbed in the show.

Milk Tea carefully placed its front paws on Duan Yi’s leg, then settled down beside him, its tail wrapped protectively around his body.

Duan Yi found this incredibly endearing and stroked Milk Tea’s fur. “What’s with you today? So shy all of a sudden? No drool attacks?”

Milk Tea squinted its eyes, panting softly with its mouth slightly open, looking like it was smiling.

Xiaoduan Mom had asked Sheng Yunze and Duan Yi to stay a few days longer.

There was no rush to return to Beijing, and Duan Yi missed his mother. Plus, they were planning to visit Sheng Mom the next day, so staying in Hangzhou was convenient.

After dinner, Duan Ji Huai invited Sheng Yunze to the study for a game of chess. Duan Yi, uninterested in such a dull activity, abandoned his boyfriend and took Milk Tea for a walk around the neighborhood. Passing a fruit store, he spotted plums in the refrigerated display—vibrant green and irresistibly tart-looking. Duan Yi usually avoided sour foods, but after the greasy dinner, he suddenly craved plums.

After buying twenty yuan’s worth of plums at the fruit store, Duan Yi strolled into the park, leash in one hand and bag of plums in the other. He found a bench, rinsed the plums under the automatic water fountain, and eagerly took a bite.

Damn…

So sour.

Duan Yi’s face contorted into a grimace.

Yet despite the sourness, they were unbelievably delicious.

Before he knew it, Duan Yi had devoured seven or eight plums, only stopping when his teeth ached numbly. His stomach felt much better now; the earlier pork rib soup seemed less greasy.

He unclipped Milk Tea’s leash, letting the Samoyed roam freely around the neighborhood. Normally, the dog would be ecstatic to run with the wind, but today it acted as if possessed, refusing to budge even when the leash was dropped, instead squatting obediently by Duan Yi’s side.

When children ran past, chasing each other through the park, Milk Tea would perk up its ears alertly, its round, black eyes fixed intently on the children until they had moved a safe distance away from Duan Yi. Only then would it lower its tail and relax.

Duan Yi didn’t notice anything while standing, but as soon as he sat down, his lower back ached slightly and his legs felt swollen. It was probably because he hadn’t exercised much lately, and his body had grown lazy.

After massaging his back a couple of times, he reached down to touch his stomach and felt something was off.

He was too embarrassed to lift his white wool sweater in public, but when he felt his stomach, it was noticeably round and fleshy. It was clear: Duan Yi’s prized Schrödinger’s abs had vanished in spectacular fashion.

“Holy shit…” Duan Yi exclaimed in shock.

Though his abs sometimes disappeared temporarily due to his overindulgence in food, even when they were gone, his stomach remained flat, never feeling this bloated.

“This can’t be real, holy shit…” Duan Yi immediately reached under his sweater to check again. It was real, and it felt slightly distended.

He made a “O口O” face, frantically trying to recall everything he’d eaten that evening: pork rib soup, millet porridge, meatballs, napa cabbage, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, shrimp balls, jelly, and a small cup of milk tea…

I didn’t even eat that much tonight!

Duan Yi suddenly noticed a slight bloating in his lower abdomen. He hadn’t paid attention before, but now it hit him: he might have gained weight.

It was all Sheng Yunze’s fault. He kept teasing Duan Yi about being chubby, and now it had actually come true.

Though Duan Yi usually ate heartily and didn’t care much about his figure, deep down he still wanted to be a dashing, handsome guy. He had a strong sense of his image as an idol, so the realization that he might be getting fat immediately plunged him into despair. He returned home listless, not even touching the fruit and milk foam dessert Xiaoduan Mom had prepared for him, though his mouth practically watered at the sight of it.

No, no… I can’t eat it. I can’t eat it…

Duan Yi shook his head violently, relying on his willpower to resist temptation. He anxiously pulled out the bathroom scale and stepped on it repeatedly, up and down, up and down—

Damn it, I really did gain weight!

The weight gain deeply wounded Duan Yi’s fragile ego.

Though he hadn’t gone for his run on time either. After showering and changing into his pajamas, he lingered in the bathroom for quite a while longer.

Lifting his pajama top, he glanced at his lower abdomen. From the front, it didn’t look particularly noticeable.

Then he turned sideways to check his profile. The bulge wasn’t very pronounced, but Duan Yi was still deeply agitated. Pushing open the door, he saw Sheng Yunze sitting on the floor playing video games. A sudden surge of anger welled up within him, making everything grate on his nerves—even his boyfriend’s handsome face. He felt an overwhelming urge to pick a fight.

Sheng Yunze noticed Duan Yi’s bare feet and remarked, “Didn’t we agree you should wear slippers in winter?”

Duan Yi finally had an outlet for his inexplicable rage. His tone turned sharp and furious: “I won’t! Why do you always nag me? You’re so annoying!” He threw himself onto the bed.

Duan Yi suddenly felt incredibly restless, irritable, and desperate for a fight.

Sheng Yunze, having been inexplicably scolded, was left utterly bewildered: ???

Still confused, Sheng Yunze took a shower and dried his hair. When he emerged, Duan Yi was lying on his side, his back turned to him.

He had barely gotten into bed when Milk Tea started barking frantically at the door. Sheng Yunze was driven to the brink of madness by the dog’s incessant noise, mentally devising a thousand and one ways to get rid of him. In the end, he resigned himself to opening the door.

Milk Tea darted inside like a shot, leaping onto the bed and settling between Sheng Yunze and Duan Yi, as if determined to keep them apart.

Sheng Yunze didn’t bother arguing with a dog. Having ample experience dealing with Milk Tea, he simply grabbed the dog’s front paws, dragged him off the bed, and tossed him out the door.

Undeterred, Milk Tea continued to charge back into the bedroom. Sheng Yunze found this peculiar. Though the dog usually clung to Duan Yi during the day, he always obediently returned to his own bed at night and never tried to steal Sheng Yunze’s spot. What was going on tonight?

Had Milk Tea decided to prevent him from sleeping with Duan Yi?

Sheng Yunze expressionlessly closed the door, claiming a temporary victory in the human-dog battle.

He lay back down, pulled Duan Yi into his arms, and demanded, “Why were you so harsh with me earlier?”

Duan Yi had indeed been furious earlier, a strange irritation bubbling in his chest. He even blamed Sheng Yunze for not being able to open a bottle cap. But now, he inexplicably felt like crying, especially when Sheng Yunze spoke to him in a soft, soothing voice. Duan Yi pouted, his voice trembling with tears as he said, “I don’t know… I went out with Milk Tea today and realized I’ve gained weight…”

Sheng Yunze paused, then secretly thought Duan Yi looked even more adorable like this.

Duan Yi wasn’t actually fat; he was just soft and squishy in all the right places, irresistibly touchable.

Sheng Yunze immediately retorted, “Who said you’re fat?”

Duan Yi’s voice remained tearful, as if he were genuinely crying, though he wasn’t. He was just speechless and still a bit angry, his temper flaring up for no apparent reason. “You did! You always call me fat! You’re just looking down on me. But you don’t look down on that Skateboard Junior in your club, and he’s even skinnier than me!”

Where did this old grudge come from? Sheng Yunze wondered. But sensing Duan Yi’s heightened emotional state tonight, he instinctively knew it was best not to say anything that might provoke him further. So he simply agreed, “No, you’re not fat.”

He even casually pinched Duan Yi’s stomach, feeling the soft, squishy flesh.

Duan Yi’s thighs were plump and fleshy, feeling wonderfully soft to the touch.

Sheng Yunze had initially intended only to give them a quick squeeze, but as he continued to caress them, his hand began to wander uncontrollably. Gradually, his slender, bony fingers slipped beneath Duan Yi’s loosely fitting pajama pants, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Just then, Milk Tea, the dog, erupted into a frenzy of barking at the door: “Woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof—!!!!!”

Sheng Yunze: ……

He ignored it.

Milk Tea stood on its hind legs, pressed its front paws and forehead against the door, and resumed its frantic barking: “Woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof—!!!!!”

A sharp, grating sound followed: Scratch scratch scratch scratch scratch scratch—

Sheng Yunze clicked his tongue in annoyance.

That stupid dog!

He got out of bed, yanked open the door, and Milk Tea, true to form, leaped onto the bed with a whoosh, settling down beside Duan Yi.

Like Duan Yi, the gluttonous dog had been fed until it was plump and sturdy, its body stretching several feet long. With its tail curled around Duan Yi, it formed a tight, protective circle.

Sheng Yunze: ……

Milk Tea sat panting, tongue lolling out, staring defiantly at Sheng Yunze, showing no intention of relinquishing its spot.

It rested its front paws on Sheng Yunze’s pillow, as if to say: Daddy, you can sleep here.
