Chapter 113 – Extra 12: Fourteen Years Old (2)

After dinner, Sheng Yunze’s stomach was full, but a wave of awkwardness soon followed.

Duan Yi seemed to have completely calmed down. He tossed his bowl into the dishwasher, grabbed his clothes, and headed to the bathroom for a shower. When he came out, he found Sheng Yunze still sitting in the living room. “Why aren’t you asleep yet?” he asked, puzzled.

Sheng Yunze’s lips pressed into a thin line, his brow furrowed. You didn’t even tell me where I’m supposed to sleep, he thought.

That morning, Sheng Yunze had faced a monumental upheaval in his life, his emotions surging wildly. This led to a heated argument with Duan Yi.

During arguments, people often lose their cool, their tempers flaring easily. At the time, he hadn’t felt any discomfort being here.

But now, as he calmed down and realized Duan Yi wasn’t as unbearable as he’d thought, Sheng Yunze’s rationality returned. The fourteen-year-old boy suddenly felt a bit constrained.

Even though this was his own home…

It was his home from over a decade in the future…

Now unfamiliar to him…

It felt like being a guest at a friend’s house…

Sheng Yunze quickly regretted his outburst. He realized he should have controlled his temper so he could have gone home with his parents, avoiding having to face Duan Yi.

Yet, the thought of not seeing Duan Yi that evening inexplicably filled him with reluctance. This was more perplexing than any physics problem, and Sheng Yunze felt his intellect was being stretched to its limits.

Duan Yi approached, drying his hair with a towel. He smelled faintly of shower gel, a scent subtly different from the morning’s—a milky sweetness that lingered in the evening air, like the coconut milk Sheng Yunze often drank.

Sheng Yunze realized this must be Duan Yi’s pheromones.

His tension grew with each step Duan Yi took closer, as if facing a formidable enemy.

Sheng Yunze had differentiated into an Alpha at thirteen. Genetic tests had always indicated he was an Alpha, suggesting no major complications.

Yet it wasn’t until he turned thirteen that he discovered the nature of his own pheromones.

He had only ever smelled his own, never another’s, let alone an Omega’s.

This was a significant shock to him.

Especially because he could sense that Duan Yi had been marked by him.

His body carried Duan Yi’s scent.

As Sheng Yunze realized this, countless inappropriate thoughts raced through his mind like a whirlwind, nearly setting his face ablaze.

At his age, even looking at mildly suggestive comics could make him blush for half the day.

Suddenly being confronted with something so explicit…

Seeing Sheng Yunze’s stiff back, Duan Yi assumed he hadn’t heard his question and repeated, “Go take a shower.”

He paused to consider, then added, “If you’re not comfortable sleeping with me, I’ve already prepared the living room next to the master bedroom. You can have the master bedroom if you prefer; I’ll sleep in the living room.”

Sheng Yunze opened his mouth to speak but remained silent. He wanted to ask, Aren’t we married? Why can’t we sleep together?

The thought itself stunned him. He immediately rebuked himself internally with righteous indignation: Are you crazy? Why would you sleep with a man?

Duan Yi beckoned with a hook of his finger. “Do you know where the bathroom is? I’ll show you.”

The bathroom was on the second floor. Duan Yi meticulously adjusted the hot water, making Sheng Yunze’s heart skip a beat. He silently mused, He’s actually quite domestic.

After preparing a towel and fresh pajamas, Duan Yi took Sheng Yunze’s discarded clothes downstairs and tossed them into the laundry basket for the housekeeper to wash tomorrow.

He yawned and stretched as he left the room, his short pajamas riding up to reveal a flash of pale, bare waist that was almost blinding.

Sheng Yunze glanced at it briefly, as if he’d glimpsed some earth-shattering secret, then whipped his head away, his ears burning crimson. He turned his back to Duan Yi and slammed the door shut with a resounding bang.

He’s furious with embarrassment, hating his own weakness, Duan Yi thought, amused by the loud slam.

“What’s with the princess tantrum again?” he muttered, then burst into laughter. “How is Sheng Yunze like this? Was he this adorable at fourteen?”

He opened the master bedroom door, but instead of going to bed, he grabbed a blanket and headed to the guest room.

Although the nanny had already prepared the guest room, Duan Yi still felt uneasy about Sheng Yunze sleeping there. He decided to personally inspect it and rearrange it to Sheng Yunze’s liking, adding some calming incense for good measure.

Just as he finished removing all the inappropriate items from the drawers, he turned to find Sheng Yunze standing barefoot in the doorway, clad in pajamas with his hair dripping wet.

He looked like a drenched stray cat—a purebred one at that.

Duan Yi startled and sat up on the bed. “Finished showering?”

Sheng Yunze grumbled, “I couldn’t find the hairdryer.”

Duan Yi quickly grabbed a towel and stood on tiptoe to dry Sheng Yunze’s hair.

As Sheng Yunze caught a whiff of the pleasant scent wafting from Duan Yi, his heart fluttered. Yet he couldn’t resist taunting him: “You’re so short, shorty.”

“Don’t think I won’t hit a minor,” Duan Yi retorted. “Sit still!”

He pressed Sheng Yunze’s shoulders, forcing him onto the guest room sofa. After plugging in the hairdryer, Duan Yi stood behind him and began drying his hair.

Sheng Yunze’s hair was soft and pliable. Duan Yi’s practiced movements suggested this wasn’t his first time doing this.

Sheng Yunze blew a puff of air, lifting his bangs, and asked with a cheeky tone, “Are you a Tony the hairdresser?”

Duan Yi replied, “Do you think I look like one?”

Too lazy to follow the logic of fourteen-year-old Sheng Yunze, he asked softly, “Is this okay? Does it feel uncomfortable?”

A tiny needle seemed to prick Sheng Yunze’s heart, leaving a bittersweet sensation. “It’s not uncomfortable,” he mumbled.

He mentally awarded Duan Yi another point, reaffirming his own judgment: Looks like I still have a good eye for choosing a wife. As expected of me.

“Alright, time to sleep,” Duan Yi said, switching off the hairdryer.

The warm air had lulled Sheng Yunze into a drowsy state. Duan Yi’s gentle touch, stroking his hair and occasionally brushing lightly against his ear like petting a cat’s head, almost made him drift off completely.

Only when the hairdryer stopped did Sheng Yunze look up at him, dazed.

Duan Yi, oblivious to Sheng Yunze’s expression, glanced out the window. “Why is it raining?”

The downpour was heavy, dark clouds blanketed the sky, and Duan Yi looked worried.

Sheng Yunze asked, “You don’t like rain?”

“It’s not that,” Duan Yi replied. “It feels like there’s going to be thunder.”

Sheng Yunze changed the subject. “Are you still afraid of thunder?”

“Sheng Xi is afraid,” Duan Yi replied. “If I’d known, I would have brought him back earlier…”

Sheng Xi?

Sheng Yunze repeated the name to himself.

It sounded like his son.

He suddenly snapped back to reality, staring at Duan Yi’s lower abdomen as if he’d seen a ghost.

Then his mind short-circuited.

He had a son?

Duan Yi had given birth to him…

Duan Yi… given birth…

That meant they had to have done that, that lifelong…

He couldn’t bear to think further.

A young boy shouldn’t dwell on such things—it was too stimulating.

Duan Yi drew the curtains and stretched lazily. “I’m going back to sleep.”

He walked away with effortless grace, not even glancing at Sheng Yunze as he passed.

Sheng Yunze suddenly felt resentful. Aren’t I his husband? How dare he go to sleep without even looking at me? What kind of married couple behaves like this?

But Duan Yi was perfectly capable of such behavior.

Sheng Yunze grabbed his arm. “Hey!”

“Huh?” Duan Yi turned.

Sheng Yunze looked like he was choking on a sentence. Duan Yi stared at him for a moment, then realization dawned. “You want to sleep with me?”

This remark somehow struck at the pride and embarrassment of the fourteen-year-old boy. Like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, Sheng Yunze instantly turned fierce. “Who wants to sleep with you?”

Feeling that his words hadn’t been emphatic enough to convey his unwavering resolve and prevent Duan Yi from harboring any unwarranted expectations, Sheng Yunze doubled down: “I’ve told you before, I’m not interested in men. You’d better not get your hopes up, and definitely don’t expect me to sleep with you.”

Duan Yi brushed him off with a dismissive, “Mhm, mhm, mhm, mhm, whatever you say, honey!”

Sheng Yunze exploded: “Don’t call me honey!”

Duan Yi continued to brush him off: “Mhm, mhm… I’m so sleepy…”

Seeing Duan Yi’s nonchalant demeanor, Sheng Yunze suddenly felt deeply frustrated.

Adults are so annoying! he thought, gritting his teeth.

As the annoying adult turned to go to bed, he suddenly leaned in, catching Sheng Yunze off guard, and planted a loud, wet kiss on his cheek.

The resounding smack left Sheng Yunze stunned.

Duan Yi waved casually, leaving without a trace, “Bye-bye, good night, see you tomorrow~”

Then he slipped away.

It wasn’t until five minutes later that Sheng Yunze’s face slowly flushed crimson.

From his neck to the tips of his ears, he burned with embarrassment, his long eyelashes trembling.

Duan Yi finally understood why men loved teasing pretty boys.

Damn, this is too satisfying, too visually perfect, too rewarding…

Before falling asleep, Duan Yi was still fantasizing about what Sheng Yunze must have looked like at fourteen—even more tender than he was now. Though Professor Sheng was already incredibly beautiful, Duan Yi couldn’t help but wish he could see the real fourteen-year-old Sheng Xiaohua…

Oh, Duan Yi thought to himself, Sheng Xiaohua still really hates me, doesn’t he? Acting like a virtuous maiden, refusing to sleep with me…

Lost in these thoughts, he drifted off to sleep.

Duan Yi fell asleep at eleven.

At midnight, the bedroom door suddenly creaked open a crack.

Dim yellow light from the hallway spilled into the room as the door widened slightly, emitting a soft creak.

Since he wasn’t sleeping with Sheng Yunze, Duan Yi found it difficult to sleep soundly on his own, remaining in a light slumber.

So, the moment he heard movement at the door,

Duan Yi had just woken up, his mind still groggy. He completely forgot that the guest room had water and was immediately swept up by Sheng Yunze’s train of thought. He pointed to the table across the room. “There’s water on the table. Drink some. Don’t drink it cold—add some hot water…”

As soon as he finished speaking, Duan Yi felt overwhelmingly sleepy and instantly collapsed back into bed.

Sheng Yunze: “Okay.”

Not hearing a response, he added, “Then I’ll come in.”

It sounded like he was speaking to Duan Yi, but it also seemed like he was talking to himself.

Sheng Yunze poured himself a glass of water and slowly sipped it.

His mind was elsewhere as he drank, his actions eerily reminiscent of his childhood. Back then, when his mother insisted he drink soup, he would stubbornly refuse, instead using his chopsticks to try and merge the large and small oil bubbles floating on the surface into one giant bubble.

It took Sheng Yunze at least five minutes to finish the glass of water. Finally, having no excuse to linger in Duan Yi’s bedroom, he felt a strange sense of unease. Why hadn’t Duan Yi tried to keep him there? Weren’t they married? Didn’t he want to sleep with him?

If Duan Yi had sat up right then, weeping and begging him to stay, Sheng Yunze might have endured the humiliation and slept with him for one night, out of consideration for their marriage.

But Duan Yi did nothing.

He slept like a pig.

This infuriated Sheng Yunze so much that his liver ached.

As Sheng Yunze stormed out of the room, he deliberately dragged his slippers across the floor, making a grating, ear-splitting noise—even louder than usual—but Duan Yi remained undisturbed.

“I’m leaving!” he shouted, hoping to rouse Duan Yi, but still, Duan Yi slept on.

Finally, Sheng Yunze slammed the door shut, yet Duan Yi remained sound asleep.

Now Sheng Yunze’s stomach began to ache with anger. He cursed under his breath, “Pig!”

The room remained silent for a long time, until…

At 12:35 AM, the bedroom door creaked open a crack.

The creak echoed loudly in the otherwise silent night.

Duan Yi, easily awakened by the sound of a door opening, sat up to find history repeating itself with eerie precision. His head swam as he forced open one eye and glared at Sheng Yunze. “What now?”

Sheng Yunze’s expression was resentful. “Bathroom.”

Duan Yi was bewildered. “Don’t you have a bathroom in your room?”

He was sure there was one.

Sheng Yunze: “…It’s broken.”

He wasn’t blushing from lying; it was Duan Yi’s voice that made his face flush.

Roused from sleep, Duan Yi’s voice was soft, almost childlike, like a gentle coaxing.

Fortunately, Duan Yi didn’t have the energy to ponder why the guest room’s bathroom was broken.

He lay back down. “Then go yourself. Remember to close the door when you leave.”

Still no hint of wanting Sheng Yunze to stay.

Sheng Yunze had paced back and forth in Duan Yi’s room twice that night, waking him up both times. The constant interruptions had left Duan Yi on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

As he drifted back to sleep, Duan Yi had only one wish: to sleep soundly until dawn.

Sheng Yunze didn’t actually need to use the bathroom.

He stood in the bathroom for thirty seconds, reflecting on his brief fourteen years of life—no, wait, actually twenty-four years.

When he emerged, he found Duan Yi already fast asleep.

Sheng Yunze stood silently in the room for a moment, as if sulking with himself, then stormed out again.

Am I crazy? he wondered.

By the time Sheng Yunze returned to his own room, he was seething with anger.

“Why does he want to sleep in separate rooms? Even though I really don’t want to sleep with a man, couldn’t he at least try to persuade me to stay?” Sheng Yunze crossed his arms and flopped stiffly onto the bed.

“It’s not like I can’t sleep without him,” he muttered, closing his eyes. The room felt drafty, and the rain outside was pouring down, accompanied by thunder. He mentally cataloged all of Duan Yi’s flaws, but his thoughts soon drifted off course, morphing into: “Maybe I should go get another drink of water and see what happens?”

The mind of this genuine fourteen-year-old genius boy, when not focused on proper pursuits, spun like a top. “But I’ve already gotten so many drinks tonight. Wouldn’t that look weird?”

He immediately rejected the idea. “Why would it be weird? I’m drinking water because I’m thirsty, not for any other reason. Ridiculous! As if I’d go get water just to give him a chance!”

Sheng Yunze stared wide-eyed at the ceiling.

“Could I be?”

“Could I not be?”

He sat up abruptly. “Of course I am!”

I—

So what if I want to sleep with him?!

I am his legal husband. According to the laws and regulations of our country, it’s only natural and right for me to sleep with him!

At 12:50 AM, Duan Yi’s bedroom door creaked open a crack once more.

Creak. Before Sheng Yunze could even speak, his eyes locked with Duan Yi’s murderous glare.

Sheng Yunze shuddered at the full force of Duan Yi’s hateful, resentful gaze.

“I…” Sheng Yunze was about to say, “I feel a bit cold in the bedroom.”

But Duan Yi cut him off: “I’m cold.”

Sheng Yunze froze.

Duan Yi couldn’t take it anymore. “I’m cold!” he blurted out. “Do you want to come up and sleep?”

A little flower bloomed above Sheng Yunze’s head, swaying gently. Yet his mouth remained stubbornly dismissive. “I don’t sleep with men…” he huffed.

“I want to! I want to! I want to! I want to! I want to! I want to! Okay?! I want to sleep with you! I can’t sleep without you!” Duan Yi rattled off a string of “I want to”s, inwardly lamenting, Why is fourteen-year-old Sheng Yunze so damn difficult to deal with?!

Sheng Yunze’s heart soared with secret delight. He darted to the bedside at lightning speed and expertly climbed into bed. “Remember, you asked me to stay. I’m only here because you begged me.”

The moment Sheng Yunze climbed onto the bed, Duan Yi burrowed into his arms, causing Sheng Yunze’s body to stiffen momentarily. Yet he didn’t push Duan Yi away, instead cautiously embracing him like a child learning to walk, as if holding a precious museum artifact.

Duan Yi mumbled into his chest, his words slurred, “Please… I’m begging you… Can’t you just let me sleep peacefully?”

“Can’t you sleep now?” Sheng Yunze asked.

Duan Yi hummed in response, already drifting back to sleep.

Suddenly, Sheng Yunze felt neither thirsty nor hungry. He no longer needed the bathroom, and the room wasn’t cold anymore. He finally settled down.

Contentedly holding Duan Yi, he inhaled the familiar coconut milk-scented pheromone, feeling so blissful he nuzzled Duan Yi’s cheek like a cat.

Unable to resist, Sheng Yunze nipped Duan Yi’s cheek, leaving a faint tooth mark. In his sleep, Duan Yi frowned slightly before burrowing deeper into Sheng Yunze’s embrace.

Sheng Yunze tightened his hold.

“Good night,” he said awkwardly. “I think you’re pretty good.”

His face flushed slightly as he hesitated, then whispered, “I’m starting to understand why my future self likes you.”
