Chapter 75 – The School Beauty’s Great Crisis!

Halfway there, Duan Yi grabbed Sheng Xi by the scruff of his neck, his fate sealed.

Sheng Yunze raised an eyebrow. Duan Yi, drenched in cold sweat, hissed a warning to Sheng Xi, “Didn’t I tell you not to call people that?!”

Sheng Xi looked at him innocently. “But he’s Dad! He’s not just anyone.”

Duan Yi felt cold sweat trickling down his forehead. “He’s not your dad yet.”

Sheng Yunze’s gaze shifted from Duan Yi to Sheng Xi in his arms, then to Sheng Ming at his feet. Two identical little faces stared up at him with puppy-dog eyes, their eyes sparkling.

Sheng Xi’s soft “Dad” might have been quiet, but it struck Sheng Yunze like a thunderclap, echoing in his mind for days.

The school beauty, just seventeen and barely starting life, had just begun dating. He hadn’t even heard his girlfriend call him “husband” yet, and now he was a father.

He froze completely, his pupils dilating in shock.

Jiang Wangshu entered to find this scene: Duan Yi frozen in the doorway, Sheng Yunze frozen on the sofa, still clueless about what was happening.

“Why are you just standing in the doorway? Playing gatekeepers? Hey, are these the two kids you brought from your relatives’ place?”

Jiang Wangshu lowered his head to meet the gazes of Sheng Ming and Sheng Xi.

His pupils dilated in shock!

The wheel of history had turned!

Jiang Wangshu pointed a trembling finger at Duan Yi, then at Sheng Yunze, and stammered, “You two… so fast?”

Duan Yi covered his face. “So fast my ass! How could I possibly have kids already?”

Wait, maybe he could…

He quickly corrected himself. “Get this straight—we’re only seventeen! We won’t even be eighteen until next year! How could we have a five-year-old?”

“Holy shit!” Jiang Wangshu finally snapped out of his shock, letting out an earth-shattering roar.

The others who had followed Jiang Wangshu into the room took turns scrutinizing Sheng Ming and Sheng Xi, each muttering a unified “Holy shit!”

Jiang Wangshu ushered them inside. “Jian Qiao and Nan Yi aren’t here yet. Find seats.”

Where am I supposed to sit? Duan Yi thought, feeling awkward with his two “kids” in tow.

Then his eldest and youngest tugged at his sleeves, subtly but insistently signaling him to sit next to Sheng Yunze.

Sheng Xi, the more outgoing of the two, pointed directly to the spot next to Sheng Yunze on the sofa. “Mom… Brother, let’s sit here.”

Duan Yi: At least you know your place.

He glanced up at Sheng Yunze, whose body remained stiff as if petrified in the wind.

Duan Yi sat down, and the two children immediately followed, one after the other.

“Hey, why didn’t you say anything when you saw me?” Duan Yi asked, stopping Sheng Xi’s sneaky attempt to climb into Sheng Yunze’s lap. “Stop it, you—you—you—Brother.”

He nearly blurted out “Dad,” but Duan Yi quickly corrected himself, letting out a sigh of relief. “Sit properly.”

Sheng Xi’s eyes sparkled. “Can I sit next to this brother?”

He immediately turned to Sheng Yunze for an answer.

Sheng Yunze’s seventeen years of life were facing an unprecedented crisis.

Sheng Xi’s hand had already touched Sheng Yunze’s sleeve. Sheng Yunze flinched, as if snapping out of a daze, and suddenly scooped Sheng Xi into his arms.

Turning to Duan Yi, Sheng Yunze asked, “Were they the ones who answered my call yesterday?”

“The one you’re holding,” Duan Yi said.

He stuck to his story, “They’re my relatives’ kids.”

Sheng Yunze casually asked, “What are their names?”

Duan Yi: ……

Fortunately, Sheng Yunze didn’t press for their names. Instead, he asked, “Which one’s the older brother, and which one’s the younger?”

Duan Yi perked up. “Guess!”

Sheng Ming and Sheng Xi looked remarkably alike. Until they turned ten, almost no one could tell them apart except for the tear mole beneath their eyes—one on each side.

The more lively one is the younger brother, and the more well-behaved one is the older brother.

The thought suddenly popped into Sheng Yunze’s head.

He pinched Sheng Xi’s cheek. “This one’s the younger brother?”

Duan Yi: =口=!

“How did you guess right on the first try?!”

Sheng Yunze retorted venomously, “My brain works differently from yours.”

Sheng Xi nodded in agreement. Duan Yi, unwilling to argue with Sheng Yunze but still wanting to tease his own son, snapped angrily, “What’s with that attitude?! I’ll throw away all your formula if you don’t watch it!”

Sheng Xi giggled and immediately buried his face in Sheng Yunze’s arms.

Sheng Xi wanted to cling to Sheng Yunze.

But Sheng Ming was even more attached to Duan Yi. Though he also longed to cuddle with Sheng Yunze, after weighing his options, he decided he wanted Duan Yi to hold him.

His little legs swung back and forth as he stole glances at Sheng Yunze and then at Duan Yi.

Noticing the two five-year-olds in the private room, the waiter thoughtfully brought over two bowls of milk porridge to tide them over.

Sheng Xi immediately abandoned Sheng Yunze, his short legs carrying him swiftly to Duan Yi’s side. He sat obediently and opened his mouth, “Ah.”

Duan Yi picked up the bowl. “You’re old enough to feed yourself.”

Sheng Xi whined, “Brother gets fed too! I want to be fed too!”

Duan Yi scooped up a spoonful. “Eat quickly and don’t spill it on your clothes. I don’t want to do laundry tonight.”

Sheng Yunze watched from the side, his head tilted.

He listened as Duan Yi rambled, “You two look too much like this older brother to sit together, you know? Three identical people in a row will get erased.”

Sheng Yunze interjected, “You still haven’t deleted that brainless game?”

Duan Yi retorted indignantly, “What do you mean brainless? It’s a super-educational mini-game! Ah, open your mouth, Sheng Xi! And don’t run off after you finish!”

Sheng Yunze helped him up, ignoring Duan Yi’s idiotic slip of the tongue that revealed Sheng Xi’s name.

He couldn’t help but sigh inwardly, “What am I going to do with such a clueless husband?”

After his brief lament, he reached down, scooped Sheng Xi into his arms, and settled the boy on his lap.

Though Sheng Yunze had sensed this moment coming, hearing Duan Yi actually call out “Sheng Xi” still made his heart pound like a drum, almost deafeningly.

Sheng Xi sat obediently on Sheng Yunze’s lap, tilting his head to gaze up at him.

Only then did Sheng Yunze truly observe the twins’ features. They did resemble him more than Duan Yi.

A flicker of disappointment crossed his mind.

Sheng Yunze curled his lip inwardly in disdain.

He’d secretly hoped his sons would inherit more of Duan Yi’s plumpness, like soft, glutinous rice balls.

Still, the twins weren’t entirely unlike Duan Yi. Their chubby cheeks were reminiscent of him, soft and milky, framed by long lashes. Their noses, small yet elegantly upturned, were unmistakably Duan Yi’s.

Sheng Xi, in turn, studied Sheng Yunze intently. After a moment, he whispered, “Dad!”

“Hmm.” Sheng Yunze lowered his gaze, lost in thought, but didn’t correct the boy’s term.

Sheng Xi’s face lit up with delight. The little one tugged at Sheng Yunze’s shirt, his smile radiant, his short legs kicking excitedly.

Sheng Yunze’s mind was buzzing with questions. Lowering his voice, he chose the most pressing one, “How did you end up here?”

Sheng Xi chirped, “Uncle He said we could see Mom if we fell asleep.”

Sheng Yunze’s heart skipped a beat. “Fell asleep?”

“Dad was gone for so long and didn’t come back,” Sheng Xi continued. “Brother took me to Uncle He, and he told us to lie down and take a nap.”

He spoke like a little sparrow, chirping incessantly, but his logic was clear. “When we woke up, Mom was there! But she was much smaller, and Dad was smaller too.”

Sheng Yunze’s confusion deepened. “Who is Uncle He?”

“Uncle He said Dad would remember who he is,” Sheng Xi replied.

Sheng Yunze frowned.

Sheng Xi shook his head and continued, “Brother is so amazing! We’ve been really good at home. But I’ve lost weight recently. When are you coming home?”

Sheng Yunze bounced him gently. The boy was round and plump; he couldn’t see where he’d lost weight. “Coming home?” he repeated casually.

Sheng Xi looked up at him. “You said so!”

He repeated, “You said you had to go far away and told Brother and me to wait for you at home. But we’ve been waiting for so long, and Dad still hasn’t come back.”

Sheng Yunze changed the subject. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll think you’re a little crazy if you call me ‘Dad’?”

Sheng Xi retorted confidently, “No way! Dad’s super smart. Mom’s IQ wouldn’t fool him for a second. It’s better to come clean. ‘Confess and be lenient, resist and be punished!’ That’s what Dad always says!”

Sheng Yunze chuckled helplessly. “You certainly know your mother well.”

Before Sheng Yunze could ask anything else, Duan Yi had already wiped Sheng Ming’s mouth and told him to go play.

Sheng Ming had barely taken a few steps when the door burst open, followed by Nan Yi’s anguished voice. “Duan Yi! Jiang Wangshu told me you’re pregnant! You’re fucking pregnant? Is he lying? How the hell can an Alpha get pregnant?!”

Then he spotted Sheng Ming. Nan Yi froze. “You… you had a baby?”

Duan Yi rolled his eyes. “I gave birth in ten seconds? You believe Jiang Wangshu’s bullshit?”

Nan Yi paled. “Then how do you explain why this kid looks exactly like Sheng Yunze?!”

Duan Yi shrugged. “He’s my relative’s kid. How should I know? What can I do if he happens to look like Sheng Yunze?” He added nervously, “It’s probably just a coincidence…”

Sheng Ming tilted his head and tugged at Duan Yi’s sleeve. “Who’s this brother?”

He was referring to Nan Yi.

Nan Yi was horrified. “Holy shit… this is creepy as hell! Duan Yi, don’t you think this is weird? Why is there a kid who looks exactly like Sheng Yunze? It’s like double the amount of that annoying face!”

Jiang Wangshu chimed in gleefully, “This is your Xiaoduan-ge’s ex-boyfriend. You should call him ‘former sister-in-law.'”

Sheng Ming’s face instantly turned expressionless, his sharp tone identical to Sheng Yunze’s. “Hello, Uncle.”

The eighteen-year-old youth had suddenly become an “uncle,” especially since Sheng Ming still called Jiang Wangshu “Brother.”

Nan Yi jumped up in anger, never having seen a child change expressions so quickly. “Is this fucking Sheng Yunze’s biological son?!”

Jiang Wangshu laughed so hard he nearly rolled on the floor.

Duan Yi, intrigued, picked up Sheng Ming. “Have you ever met Nan Yi before?”

Sheng Ming shook his head. “No, I haven’t.”

Duan Yi’s memories of the parallel world were fading, and he wasn’t even sure if it had been a parallel world anymore.

Could it be that Nan Yi had completely lost contact with him after that?

Or had he moved abroad again to pursue his career?

This doesn’t make sense. We haven’t been in contact for over a decade. It’s impossible.

But when he turned around, Sheng Ming was only five years old in that world.

Duan Yi was no longer certain if he had actually lived there for over a decade.

His memories seemed to be malfunctioning.

Nan Yi had a strong dislike for the young Sheng Ming.

This dislike reached its peak when he saw another child with the exact same face as Sheng Ming.

“Are you sure he’s not Sheng Yunze’s son?” Nan Yi glared at Sheng Xi. “Or… twins?!”

Jiang Wangshu retorted, “What am I supposed to tell you? Don’t you think these two kids look a little like Duan Yi did when he was young?”

“I noticed,” Nan Yi snapped, “but please don’t remind me.”

Jiang Wangshu sighed dramatically. “Running away isn’t the best way to deal with things. You should face the truth.”

Nan Yi’s mood darkened. “What truth? The truth is Duan Yi is an Alpha. He can’t have children.”

Jiang Wangshu gave Nan Yi a cryptic look. “Young man, you’re still too naive.”

By then, most of the guests had arrived.

Duan Yi sat down next to Sheng Yunze, noticing his boyfriend’s preoccupied expression. He assumed Sheng Xi had been bothering him.

He quickly peeled Sheng Xi off Sheng Yunze and whispered a warning, “I told you not to cling to your dad so much.”

Sheng Xi wrapped his arms around Duan Yi’s neck, his stomach rumbling. “I’m hungry.”

Duan Yi settled him on his lap and turned to Sheng Ming. “What do you want to eat?”

Sheng Ming propped his chin on his hand. “I want to sit on your lap too!”

Duan Yi sighed. “Are you two trying to wear me out?”

Sheng Ming’s eyes lit up, his plan succeeding. He instantly scrambled into Sheng Yunze’s arms. “Then I’ll sit on Dad’s lap!”

Duan Yi: =口=!

Who are you calling “Dad”? Where’s our mother-son understanding? What happened to keeping it a secret?!

He forced an explanation. “My relatives have two kids who… have a bit of a problem. They call everyone ‘Dad.'”

Sheng Xi mercilessly exposed him. “Mommy, can I have this?”

Sheng Yunze smirked. “They call you ‘Mommy’?”

Duan Yi: ……

These two little brats are definitely Sheng Yunze’s biological children!
