What if My Roommate Finds Out I Write Danmei? - Chapter 9
Chapter 9: 9L: Delighted to Hear, Happy to See
In the laboratory.
With the guidance of their instructor, Ning Wenru and his teammates made some improvements and hoped to complete the debugging as soon as possible.
So, starting from today, Ning Wenru and his teammates began another life of forgetting to eat and sleep. Soaking in the laboratory all day, they spent a week before completing the final few rounds of debugging.
On this day, they invited the teacher to guide them once more, checking over all the programs together and troubleshooting all issues, until it was already past midnight, just before 1 AM. Finally, they got the competition robot ready. Seeing the robot smoothly complete the search and rescue project while overcoming obstacles, Ning Wenru and his teammates were extremely happy inside. Several junior and senior students who had been watching and learning nearby were also happy for them.
Even the cute junior girls bought them ice cream and other snacks as a celebration. Ning Wenru noticed one junior girl and his teammate looking at each other, eating ice cream while gazing tenderly. Ning Wenru smiled, tidied up his things, and didn’t hang around like a lampshade. However, another cute junior girl named Yami, with a bashful expression on her face, pulled Ning Wenru to one side.
Yami’s appearance is sweet, and when she smiles, her eyes bend particularly beautifully. In the Automatic Department, where there are more men than women and food is scarce, she is one of the department’s flowers. Even if you put her in the Literature Department, where there are clouds of beauties, Yami would still be top-notch. Apart from having good looks, Yami’s grades are also good. She often immerses herself in the laboratory, making her a scholar as well. Moreover, humble and eager to learn, she frequently comes to request advice from Ning Wenru.
At this moment, seeing Yami’s shy expression, Ning Wenru thought it was his turn to be confessed to. However, he heard Yami say: “That… Senior Ning, I’ve fallen for someone.”
“Oh, who?” Ning Wenru wasn’t too surprised at this moment. He had two campus heartthrobs living in his dormitory before; many girls had previously used him to ask about Yue Weijian.
“It’s just… I heard he’s in the same dormitory as Senior Ning, the newcomer Pang Zaiyuan this year.” Yami lowered her head, a slight blush visible beneath her long lashes. “Although we’ve only passed by each other a few times on the road, with just a few glances, I fell for him. His every movement is full of a soldier’s demeanor, very different from the boys in my class, Senior.” Yami lifted her head, asking bashfully, “I want to ask, does Senior know if he has a girlfriend?”
“No, he said there’s no one for him,” Ning Wenru replied readily, then teased, “So, are you happy to hear that?”
Yami shot Ning Wenru a smiling glare and said, “Don’t make fun of me, Senior… Well, do you know what type of girl he likes? If I confess to him, would it be too sudden.”
Ning Wenru said, “I don’t know about that. If you like him, just go for it. Tens of girls have asked me about him already. It’s a new era now, don’t be reserved. If you don’t take the initiative, someone else will snatch him up!”
“Thank you,” Yami lowered her head with a bashful smile, took out her phone, and said, “Then I’ll add him on WeChat. I’m truly grateful to you, Senior, for suggesting I join the student council back then. Now I have an excuse to chat with him~ Senior, who else have you heard asking about him? Do you think I have a chance?”
“Taking the initiative doesn’t guarantee success, but not taking it means no chance at all. Yami, your conditions are good, go for it!” Ning Wenru encouraged her.
At this point, although Ning Wenru was encouraging others, he felt somewhat melancholic inside, a bit envious of Yami and the others.
They were all lovely girls who could boldly pursue their dreams. How unlike him—although they lived together as roommates, even if he liked someone, he couldn’t openly pursue them.
After the celebration, it was once again 2 A.M.
It was so late that Ning Wenru was too lazy to return to the dormitory to sleep. In any case, he’d already moved over towels and blankets, so all he had to do was make a bed on the floor as usual. Successfully debugging the robot was very happy, but now that this matter that had been hanging on his heart was completed, his suddenly changed full life into an empty one, especially since his underclassman had stirred his small thoughts. Ning Wenru knew he couldn’t like a straight man, so he began to look forward to the big brother his gay friend had introduced him to.
After seeing off his junior classmates, Ning Wenru closed the laboratory door and, along with his teammates too lazy to return to the dormitory, made beds on the floor to sleep.
For some reason, today seemed particularly cold, with the midnight temperature dropping. Outside the window, thunder rumbled and lightning flashed, while torrential rain poured down in sheets. Ning Wenru tried hard to ignore the sound of the rain as he considered getting a good night’s sleep, but he couldn’t help sneezing several times. The constant noise of heavy rain striking the glass window was very disturbing, and it seemed that staying up all night was making it difficult for him to fall asleep. It also seemed like a cold wind had blown into the room, making him shiver in fear of the cold.
If only there were a warm person to hold while sleeping… Unfortunately, there’s no boyfriend, and there aren’t any extra blankets in the laboratory, only a thin towel blanket. Ning Wenru can only fall into a hazy sleep like this.
Early the next morning, as soon as Ning Wenru got out of bed, he sneezed. The bamboo mat under his back sent waves of cold, indicating he hadn’t fully woken up yet. Struggling to sit up and wash his face, he discovered he was still very drowsy, so he dazedly returned to his pallet and fell asleep again.
After sleeping for an unknown length of time, vaguely, it seemed like someone was calling his name. Ning Wenru found it incredibly annoying, his head throbbing with pain. He grabbed his towel blanket and rolled away, blocking out the noise as he continued sleeping.
When he woke up again, Ning Wenru found himself being carried by someone. Looking up from the broad shoulders, the first thing he saw was Pang Zaiyuan’s familiar profile. Its firm and perfect side contours were right before his eyes, causing Ning Wenru’s heart to pound like a drum.
Looking around further, Ning Wenru realized he was wrapped in his own towel blanket, being carried by Pang Zaiyuan towards the school infirmary. Pang Zaiyuan’s back was wide, dependable, and warm, supporting all of Ning Wenru’s weight. Ning Wenru’s chest was pressed tightly against Pang Zaiyuan’s back, his feet dangling gently, his heavy head resting on Pang Zaiyuan’s shoulder, nose inhaling the clean scent from his neck. He unconsciously nuzzled closer before shyly lowering his head, because down below, his crotch was inadvertently poking Pang Zaiyuan’s back.
“Already so lively after waking up? You truly can last 24 hours a day,” Pang Zaiyuan teased with a soft chuckle.
Ning Wenru felt like his thoughts had been laid bare, becoming even more embarrassed. He said, “I’ll walk on my own.”
Pang Zaiyuan laughed again, not taking him seriously. “Your bottom half is totally depending on me, your top half isn’t about to leave now, huh?”
After saying this, Ning Wenru also felt a bit embarrassed to poke Pang Zaiyuan’s back, and he retreated a bit. Who knew that Pang Zaiyuan would bounce up and down while carrying him on his back, making little Ning Wenru rub against Pang Zaiyuan’s back. A wave of ticklish and pleasant sensations rushed directly to his mind—he was rubbing against Pang Zaiyuan! And Pang Zaiyuan was letting him rub after carrying him on his back! Thinking about this, that area became even more spirited.
Ning Wenru felt almost embarrassed enough to find a hole to hide in, but he noticed that Pang Zaiyuan’s expression was still normal, with only a hint of a smile in the corners of his eyes. He carried Ning Wenru to his seat and set him down, then wrapped the now-loosened towel tightly around him again, and gave him a cup of hot water. Ning Wenru felt even more bewildered by this pampering, holding the bottle of hot water and crossing his legs even more tightly.
I still need to find a boyfriend as soon as possible! Otherwise, I won’t be able to handle this roommate of mine’s unreserved flirting.
The school nurse took Ning Wenru’s temperature and asked how he felt. Pang Zaiyuan seemed to understand even better than Ning Wenru, saying, “He’s been pulling all-nighters in the laboratory for over a month now, sleeping right on the floor there every day. Today I saw him roll into bed on the floor and couldn’t even wake him up in the afternoon.”
Ning Wenru couldn’t help but add, “I wasn’t pulling all-nighters every day.”
The school nurse felt Ning Wenru’s pulse and asked, “Are there any other discomforts?”
Ning Wenru replied, “Sneezing, cold, and now my head isn’t heavy anymore, I’m very alert. It feels like I’m fine now, I can get better even without medicine.”
The school nurse held up the thermometer, saying, “39.5°C, you’re saying you’re fine?”
Ning Wenru’s upper body was wrapped in the towel, leaning on the hospital bed, with his left hand exposed for the IV drip. There were three bottles of IV fluid in total, two clear and one brownish-yellow. Ning Wenru didn’t know what he was being administered; either way, Pang Zaiyuan was overseeing the entire process, and he somehow felt very reassured.
Due to the three bottles of IV fluid, the estimated infusion time would be relatively long. Ning Wenru simply ate his dinner at the school hospital. Now, Ning Wenru was eating the porridge Pang Zaiyuan had just bought with his right hand.
The porridge, although it was only plain vegetable and lean meat porridge, had a bland taste, but it was warm and warm, making it very comfortable as the porridge water flowed through his throat. After Ning Wenru finished the porridge, Pang Zaiyuan handed him a cup of hot water and a paper towel.
After wiping his mouth, Ning Wenru lay down on the bed, and Pang Zaiyuan covered him up with a towel. Feeling warmed, Ning Wenru sighed. No wonder everyone wanted a boyfriend – handsome, safe, and very warm, taking care of oneself like a baby.
“How did you know I was sick?” Ning Wenru asked curiously.
He himself didn’t even know he was sick. If he had gotten sick at the lab, his teammates would have noticed, right?
Pang Zaiyuan replied, “This morning I encountered your teammate Li Jiaqi, who said that the project is all set, and everyone went out to eat, leaving you still asleep. Knowing you were tired, they didn’t wake you up. But it’s afternoon now and you still hadn’t returned to the dormitory, so I came to the lab to check on you.” Pausing, Pang Zaiyuan then asked, “Have you finished your robot?”
When it came to what Ning Wenru could brag about, Ning Wenru’s expression brightened, saying: “It’s done! Should be able to complete all rescue tasks within the specified time. But the robot’s body is too big, so it needs to be disassembled when transporting for the competition, and then reassembled at the venue. Hope everything goes smoothly at that time too.”
Pang Zaiyuan asked again: “Have you finished applying for patents too?”
Ning Wenru nodded, smiling: “Just waiting for the results now, should be able to get two patents. If I do well in the future, I can open a company and invite you.”
Pang Zaiyuan raised an eyebrow, saying: “Are you going to keep me?”
Ning Wenru felt surprised at Pang Zaiyuan’s blunt question, but still said: “Yes, if it weren’t for you carrying me to see the doctor today, I wouldn’t even know how high my fever was. If there’s a day when you do poorly, find me, I’ll definitely help you.”
“Is that so? But how did you sell me?” The corners of Pang Zaiyuan’s mouth curved into a smile, his body leaning forward. The afternoon sunlight poured in, Pang Zaiyuan’s tall figure casting a shadow on Ning Wenru. Facing Pang Zaiyuan’s imposing stance, Ning Wenru inexplicably felt some pressure, only hearing Pang Zaiyuan say leisurely: “Two yuan fifty per book, I really sold it cheap.”
Ning Wenru looked completely lost: “Huh??”
