Chapter 77: This Woman is Really Annoying!

***

“Wow, that’s Su Xi, right? She’s such a beauty.”

“Yeah, I heard she won some art award in the province recently. The school will probably recognize that along with her academic competition awards at the next assembly. She’s truly a talented beauty.”

“Miss Su Xi’s long white legs are so gorgeous, and her figure is perfect. I wonder what kind of person will be able to marry her in the future?”

“A high society child like that is a true swan. It has nothing to do with us anyway.”

As Su Xi emerged from the car driven by her butler, students at the school gate quietly gossiped about her as usual.

She gently closed the car door, her round-soled high-heeled shoes lightly touching the ground. Through the car window, she smiled and waved at her butler, then held her bag in front of her and walked toward the school with her characteristically dignified and steady pace, the white uniform skirt swaying gently with her movements.

Su Xi’s delicate pink ears hidden beneath her hair had always had good hearing, and she was already accustomed to the discussions around her.

She could feel the gazes of the surrounding students, with whispers following her like shadows.

In front of her, other students consciously made way, and if someone didn’t notice, they would be promptly nudged by a friend’s elbow, causing them to turn their head in surprise and quickly adjust their path to the side.

To others, she was a dazzling young lady radiating brilliance, eye-catching yet unattainable.

The young lady walked slowly down the school corridor, neat in appearance and elegant in posture.

“Su Xi, you won another award for your painting, right? That’s amazing!” a female student gathered the courage to approach, her tone filled with admiration.

“Thank you,” Su Xi smiled slightly and responded politely before continuing on her way.

In the classroom, many students poked their heads out the door, curiously observing her figure, while the girl who had been acknowledged turned red with happiness, experiencing the excitement of a successful fan encounter and momentarily at a loss for words.

Every new semester, similar scenes would play out.

“She has such grace, like some wealthy family’s young lady…”

“What do you mean ‘like’? She IS from a rich family! Isn’t her father the chairman of that listed company? That plaza near our school was developed by her father.”

“Wow… really? It almost makes me want to marry her.”

“Wake up, you’re all girls! Besides, common people like us would never have a chance at marriage with someone like her.”

Behind her, the discussions continued intermittently.

These voices were like invisible walls, separating her from everyone else.

Su Xi had always known that she was a special existence at school, but unfortunately, this specialness didn’t bring any sense of belonging, rather it often made her feel somewhat lonely.

Because even among peers, attitudes toward her were more of awe and curiosity rather than closeness.

“…” Su Xi returned to the classroom alone and sat by the window.

Sometimes she would look at the groups of girls in the class, chatting and playing together during breaks, and couldn’t help but feel envious as she rested her chin on her hand and watched them from afar.

She didn’t know how to join them, and no one actively invited her.

Though they were in the same classroom, it seemed as if they all lived in their own small worlds.

The girls didn’t seem to know how to interact with such a wealthy young lady, and she didn’t know how to express herself, thinking perhaps they preferred the quiet and elegant young mistress.

As for the boys, her strict upbringing didn’t allow her much contact with the opposite sex during her student years.

How sad…

At this rate, she was going to start liking girls.

Su Xi sometimes couldn’t help but laugh self-mockingly in her heart.

Being alone and solitary, she had no real friends or confidants, only gaining a sense of achievement and satisfaction from the process of constantly becoming more excellent.

Therefore, in others’ eyes, she remained a proud young lady with strong self-esteem.

Come to think of it, it was at that time that she became fascinated with this game.

Su Xi, who had never included online games in her entertainment activities, couldn’t help but be curious when she first heard about a game world constructed with virtual reality technology. Initially, she didn’t approach it with a gaming mindset.

But soon, she was deeply immersed in this world full of fantasy.

It wasn’t the gameplay of the online game itself that attracted her, but the fantastical world that was almost indistinguishable from reality, and the friendly and close relationships between players.

Meeting different people in different places, getting to know each other after encountering during quests, fighting monsters, or simply enjoying the scenery together.

She named herself “Susie” in the game, almost identical to her real name, but everyone played as a completely new self in the game world. No one cared about real-world identities; friendship in the game world was so pure, possibly just because someone helped fight a monster or casually offered some recovery items.

Even when Su Xi was playing the game with several good friends she had made, forming a team to run a dungeon.

Until one of the players said, “Sorry, give me a few minutes, I need to change my child’s diaper,” did everyone realize he was a father. While they waited at the dungeon entrance, they chatted with interest about it.

This intertwining of reality and game felt incredibly fascinating to Su Xi.

Although the game world was virtual, the players’ emotions were real. It was like her other fantasy world, where she could experience joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness together with others, allowing her to freely express herself and seemingly regain her complete self.

Then, she met a girl who loved this game even more than she did — Tilia.

She was a girl like a legendary elf, with a dreamy, beautiful face, wearing somewhat revealing and sexy clothing, and filled with confidence and fighting spirit in every move.

They met in the wilderness, starting when Tilia stole an elite monster that Su Xi was fighting.

“Haha, Miss Susie is quite reputable in that powerful guild, Iris Knights. If you steal her monster, they might gather a bunch of people to block you in the safe zone, making it impossible for you to play!”

“Is that so… Sorry, I just needed this one for my quest, I’ve been looking for a long time.”

The white-haired, red-eyed girl thought briefly, her black-stockinged beautiful legs swaying, then swinging her scythe and responding: “But that’s fine, go ahead. I’m strong.”

So there are girls like this… Su Xi was momentarily stunned.

After all, it was hard to imagine someone so confident or perhaps arrogant that they would call this game world, which belonged to all players, “my world,” and equally feel the extraordinary significance of the game world to her.

After that, Tilia and Su Xi would often encounter each other, competing for monsters and items, becoming rivals for a time.

What surprised Su Xi was that every time she logged into the game after returning home from school, she found Tilia online.

“This girl is online every night chasing progress… Does she really not want to lose to me that much…”

Su Xi bit her lip, then opened her friends list to check Tilia’s location. “Whatever, I’ll go steal her monsters.”

In the game world, they competed and challenged each other, instantly igniting Su Xi’s strong desire to win. Even when both were exhausted, they would still pounce on each other, wrestling and playing, taking turns pinning each other to the ground for a “lesson.”

Later, inadvertently, Su Xi learned from casual conversation.

Tilia’s real life had not been going well for a while, and she was living with her younger sister. Seeing her lost eyes and helpless figure as she spoke about these things, Su Xi couldn’t help but want to help her.

But soon Tilia mischievously returned to that annoying self, angering Su Xi into tackling her for another fight.

This also made Su Xi understand the difference between her and Tilia.

Tilia loved this game world very much and viewed it as her second life, but she hadn’t completely immersed herself in it, as she still carried the responsibility of raising her sister and fighting against life’s hardships in reality.

“If one day, I had to choose between staying in the game forever or returning to reality.”

“I would definitely choose to return to reality. No matter how cruel reality is, I still have my sister there. She’s gentle and understanding, all I have left in reality.”

“She is my everything, I need to return to her side.”

— The memories gradually faded from her mind.

Now kneeling on this cold snowy plain, listening to the howling wind and snow, Susie slowly closed her eyes, accepting her fate.

Hmph, good thing that annoying Tilia isn’t here, she thought.

Otherwise, sacrificing herself in this game world would leave her sister without support, at least the sisters could be reunited.

How enviable… to have such a sister who protects her with all her heart.

If only she could have…

But unfortunately, she could never go back.

And here, as the fantasy shattered, she would meet her end…

Just as Susie closed her eyes, two clear tears slowly rolling down her cheeks, preparing to face her destined fate.

In her world of stillness and silence, accompanied by a clear metallic clang, a familiar girl’s voice suddenly rang in her ears, making her heart skip a beat.

“Ugh…! Tch, talk about a close call.”

“!!!” For a moment, Susie thought she was hearing things.

But when she suddenly opened her eyes again.

She saw a young woman’s figure already standing in front of her, facing the Ice Crystal Colossus Golem’s unstoppable crushing blow. Around her was a blood-colored energy wave of equal strength, surging in the opposite direction to counter it.

“W-what, Til…”

Susie widened her eyes, seeing this unbelievable figure before her, her crystalline pupils trembling violently once more.

Why… was it her imagination?

Especially at a time like this…

And upon realizing what had happened, she was almost in tears, looking at the scene before her with brimming eyes.

This woman is really annoying…!!!

“Don’t give up so easily, Miss Susie. If you die here, you can’t respawn…”

The white-haired girl in a black dress, holding a blood-colored scythe, stood protectively in front of her.

Her silk-smooth snow-white hair and the hem of her dress swayed in the violent wind. The cross-strapped dress exposed her smooth, fair back, a pair of delicate, prominent shoulder blades now tensely drawing together.

A pair of long, well-proportioned legs in black stockings stood apart, tensely maintaining their wonderful curves with great resilience.

Her high heels pressed firmly against the ground, the heels slightly pushed back by the giant’s powerful impact, but quickly standing firm again!

“Can you still stand?” Tilia held her scythe, withstanding the Colossus’s heavy attack, glancing back with her blood-red eyes gleaming in the dark night, the corners of her mouth slightly raised.

“You’ve done well — now please leave the rest to me.”

Then, the girl let out an angry cry!

In Susie’s shocked pupils, her figure gripped tightly with both hands and thrust forward forcefully, blood-red thin lines connecting heaven and earth flickered in between, a slash penetrating through the golem with a crisp sound, cleaving through the towering snow waves!
