Chapter 60: The Warmth of Guild Members

***

“Th-thank you…”

“You’re welcome, extending a helping hand to players in distress is only right. By the way, my name is Qianmeng.”

In the sled team, several guild members squeezed together to make room for Tilia and the severely injured, unconscious Cross, allowing Qianmeng Meow to sit with the three girls on the same sled.

At first, everyone wanted to ask Doctor Mercury to help treat Cross, seeing how severe her injuries were.

But after examining her injuries, Doctor Mercury shook his head.

He explained that this was his first time seeing the severely injured status in the game, and in real life, this condition would require emergency room treatment. He then took out a hemostatic potion from his sleeve, which could only barely slow down the bleeding rather than completely heal her.

Upon hearing that Tilia planned to take Cross back to the main city for treatment, which happened to align with their route, everyone suggested they return to the city first.

So Tilia boarded their sled, holding Cross in her arms. When she saw ice plains wolves pulling the sled, she was surprised, as this was something even she, as a closed beta player, had never seen before.

Four husky sleds ran side by side, speeding through the snow and wind toward the main city.

“Ah, how did this happen? It’s truly pitiful…”

Qianmeng looked at Cross’s wounds with immense sympathy, gently wiping her arm with a handkerchief. The row of DEBUFFs was truly heartbreaking to see. Normal battles shouldn’t end up like this.

“What exactly happened? How did this young girl get so badly injured?” the guildmaster sitting on the adjacent sled asked with a frown.

Tilia looked down at Cross sleeping in her arms, whose breathing had become more regular than before, which somewhat eased her mind. Then she slowly looked aside and replied in a low voice: “We encountered red-named players on this floor.”

“Red-named players!?” Almost simultaneously, others exclaimed in shock.

Only Duoduo and Yezi, sitting on the farthest sled, didn’t hear anything and curiously poked their heads out, looking confused as they tried to gather information.

“Yes.” Tilia slowly lowered her eyelids and continued: “When I wasn’t around, those red-named players attacked my teammate. There were six of them, and Cross… fought them to the death.”

“This is absolutely unforgivable! This is a death game!!!”

The guildmaster became furious upon hearing this, heavily striking the shield in his hand.

Moreover, so many of them attacking a little girl could only be described as despicable, though one couldn’t expect much better from such people. Red-named players had been despised by everyone since the first day.

Not only did they refuse to help when everyone was working together to clear the map, but they also secretly harmed vulnerable players.

“So, where are those red-named players now?” The black magic hat-wearing Miss Youmi’s eyes flashed with piercing cold light, clearly also provoked to anger, especially after seeing Cross’s injuries.

If not taken seriously, who knew who might become the next player to end up like this.

Upon hearing this question, others instinctively gripped their weapons tightly, as if preparing for battle against the red-named team.

“They’re already dead,” Tilia said calmly.

“What, already dead?”

Although everyone initially asked how they died, when they saw Tilia’s cold eyes and the blood on half of her face, they couldn’t help but form a terrifying thought.

That it was Tilia herself who had ended them.

To be able to fight alone on the snowy plains while carrying an injured teammate, and to unleash that mysterious blood-colored blade light.

This beautiful but cold white-haired girl was probably incredibly strong, but Yezi, who had personally witnessed her one-shot kill of an elite monster, knew this point deeply. Miss Tilia was not just drop-dead gorgeous! No, she was overwhelmingly powerful!

And at least in PVP, she was definitely far beyond ordinary players, otherwise it was hard to imagine how she could escape from six red-named players surrounding her.

“We’ll reach the Ice Snow City soon, the husky-pulled sleds are very fast.”

“Yes, at least much more comfortable than walking on foot like before. If the potion can only maintain Cross’s HP value for three to four hours, we can pool together quite a few more between us, ensuring she’ll be safe!”

“After all, we’re a guild with seven members!”

Hearing the words of the Silly Group Friends Guild members, Tilia raised her eyes slightly in surprise, then gradually lowered her gaze, feeling somewhat touched.

Guild… Whether in the closed beta or the current open beta, she had almost always played solo, rarely teaming up with others and having few friends to speak of. The words “guild” and “group” seemed so foreign to her.

And yet, these almost complete strangers were showing her such kindness and friendliness…

If they hadn’t happened to pass by, she truly didn’t know what she would have done. She could only watch as Cross’s life countdown ticked away second by second, while she desperately struggled in the vast snowy plains, looking hopelessly toward the distant main city.

Regardless, she was extremely grateful to them.

“How did you manage to create this sled?” Tilia couldn’t help but ask.

“Eh? You mean having ice plains wolves pull the sled?” Qianmeng Meow pointed at the two ice plains wolves running through the snow in front of them.

“Oh! That’s our guild member Miss Qianmeng’s profession skill,” the guildmaster said proudly. “Although she’s a newly converted Beast Tamer, after experiencing some ups and downs, she managed to successfully tame several lower-level ice plains wolves.”

“As for the sled, it’s in the crafting list, a holiday special item that can be crafted with just a click.”

The raw material was wood, and the guild members had spent quite some time cutting trees in the snow to gather enough materials. After crafting the sleds and pairing them with the ice plains wolves that had become huskies, this unique special mount was complete.

No wonder they said this game had high freedom before playing it, you could really make anything you could think of.

Surely it wouldn’t be possible to create things like steam engines in this supposed world of swords and magic, right?

“That’s right, that’s right!” Hearing about beast taming, Yezi on the distant sled was eager to speak up again.

“These huskies, when I approached them, they were baring their teeth and drooling ferociously, wanting to pounce and bite me. But when Miss Qianmeng went to pet their heads, my god! Their eyes immediately changed to intelligent ones! They’re no longer drooling like before.”

Sitting properly on the sled, helping to wipe Cross’s wounds, Miss Qianmeng quickly shook her hand, “Haha, it’s not that exaggerated…”

With everyone chatting enthusiastically, the atmosphere became lively.

In the midst of conversation, an hour quickly passed.

Braving the snow and wind without obstacle, the Silly Group Friends Guild and Tilia’s group successfully reached the Ice Snow City on the husky sleds.

To be precise, they reached the foot of the mountain where the Ice Snow City was located — because the main city was built on a flattened plateau of a snow mountain, everyone had to get off the sleds and walk up the mountain in a staggered line for some distance.

During this time, the guildmaster also helped carry Cross, sharing Tilia’s burden, and they successfully reached the main city area.

A towering heat source tower stood in the center of the city, and the entire city was bustling with activity.

The ground was paved with neat tiles without any snow accumulation, and people in winter clothing were constantly moving about on the streets. Some noticed their arrival and expressed friendly greetings of “Welcome, Starforgers.”

It seemed they were the first batch of players to reach the main city.

After experiencing such severe cold weather and various monster attacks outside, everyone finally stood at the entrance of the Ice Snow City. Beneath their feet was no longer that awkward soft feeling, but a long-missed solid sensation.

Seeing the bustling city scene before them, especially smelling the freshly baked berry pies, it was almost enough to make them cry on the spot.

“Finally, we’ve arrived?” Everyone looked up with relief.

The protagonist isn’t going to change bodies until chapter 27, so it’s normal to feel that way. Just treat all the chapters before that as a long prologue, the real story starts from there.

well, for this novel, I want to say as fast as the author publishes new chapters. But the latest translated chapter has already caught up to the raw, and the author themselves has simply disappeared, so let’s hope they return soon.
