Chapter 58: Soft and Gentle Beast Tamer Girl
***
Just over an hour ago—
Hearing the sounds of the Ice Crystal Colossus Golem gradually fading in the distance, the members of the Silly Group Friends Guild finally stopped their frantic running. Everyone was panting like dogs. “Duoduo” and “Yezi” immediately gave up, collapsing on the spot. The one who had been chased by monsters and the one who wanted to pilot a Gundam sat back-to-back on the ground.
“Doctor Mercury” and “Raven” leaned against trees. The team’s only two female members were the cold and taciturn ice beauty, the ice mage “Youmi,” and the gentle, ladylike, and lovely girl “Qianmeng Meow.”
Both girls now had flushed red faces from exhaustion and sat together on a withered tree trunk, leaning against each other.
Doctor Mercury, who even in the game wore a white lab coat as his displayed costume, mysteriously pushed up his glasses and said, “Interesting. So this game has things like this too. It’s starting to feel quite epic.”
“Is Doctor Mercury still appreciating the epic feel of the game at a time like this? We’re lucky just to be alive…”
“Well, Doctor Mercury is a hardcore gamer. But do you doctors who sit in offices all day wearing white coats normally run faster than athletes? I considered myself to have decent physical ability at school, but I could barely keep up.” Duoduo panted heavily.
“I was dying out there! Making a mage compete in a running race, how could I possibly keep up with you guys, you bunch of companion-abandoning jerks…!”
Yezi felt like he had used up his lifetime’s worth of exercise.
Fortunately, this was in the game. In reality, he would definitely have been dead.
The silent Raven, as always wearing a black cloak, unsociably stood alone in the shade of a tree, organizing and cleaning his daggers while remaining highly vigilant of the surrounding snow forest.
Although they had escaped that enormous monster, dangers still existed on the snow plains, especially when everyone had lowered their guard.
“Well then, let’s all take a short rest here for now.”
Suddenly, a voice appeared from nowhere, and the guildmaster wearing a full set of armor appeared before everyone.
Yezi and Duoduo stared at each other in disbelief, momentarily wanting to criticize with “who are you?” Had the guildmaster not been standing there with a big smile like nothing had happened, they would have thought he had fled to the ends of the earth.
Guildmaster, you… is this your way of leading from the front!?
So the group took a brief rest, gathering around a large tree to plan their next move. By this point, they had begun to have second thoughts, not expecting exploring a new map would be such a difficult task.
But just earlier, they had heard that the teleport to the third floor had been sealed, which essentially forced them to continue pressing forward.
“Doctor Mercury! I think I hit my leg on something. I have a 【Leg Injury】 DEBUFF. Quick, heal me!”
“Drink this.” The white-coated Doctor Mercury pulled out a prepared potion from his sleeve. It was a “creative medicine” formulated based on his real-life experience rather than an in-game formula.
But what was undeniably convincing to everyone was that Doctor Mercury’s little innovation worked much better than Basic Healing Potions.
“Great, praise be to Mercury… cough, cough! Damn, it’s so bitter! I take back my praise.”
“I didn’t add licorice when I made it. This is the natural taste,” Doctor Mercury said expressionlessly, opening his inventory to check his material storage. He had originally come to the snow plains to collect new herbs.
“Oh, so why didn’t you add licorice? Would it reduce the effectiveness?” the pink-haired soft and cute girl Qianmeng Meow asked quietly.
“No,” Doctor Mercury pushed up his glasses again with a rather serious expression and said, “It’s because it’s too expensive. I can’t afford it.”
Everyone: “…”
Doctor Mercury: “So, good medicine tastes bitter. Don’t expect to taste anything sweet in the potions I make.”
“I think next time we get a bounty mission, the reward money should first go to our logistics team to purchase some materials…”
“Agreed.” “Agreed.” “Agreed.”
Although the guildmaster sometimes seemed unreliable, at this moment he had apparently gone to scout the surrounding area, actively shouldering the responsibility of leading the team. The other members also began thinking about what to do next.
With the third floor sealed and no way to reach the main city, they could be described as living rough.
And at night, having no fixed shelter would be even more dangerous. No one knew if monsters would attack while they slept. They would probably need to take turns standing watch. Then there were the food issues, and the durability of their cold weather outfits…
With supplies cut off in such harsh weather, the situation seemed quite troublesome.
“Um! I have an idea, though I’m not sure if it will work…” The soft pink-haired girl raised her small hand, just like an elementary school student answering a teacher’s question, properly making a square gesture with her hands.
“Does Qianmeng Meow have a good idea? Quick, share it with us, good sister!”
“Actually… what Yezi mentioned earlier about capturing Ice Plains Wolves to pull sleds might really work.” The pink-haired girl’s voice was sweet and soft as she opened her profession interface. “Actually, I’ve been eligible for class advancement for a while, but I couldn’t decide what to choose…”
“But among the professions I can unlock, there’s one called ‘Beast Tamer.’ I could switch to…”
To unlock Beast Tamer, one must meet hidden conditions.
One of these was 【Having a Loving Heart for Small Animals】. Though it was unclear how the game system determined this, only the girl named Qianmeng Meow in the team had fulfilled this condition, so only she could see this profession as unlockable.
It seemed reasonable, as Qianmeng looked like a gentle, cute, and kind-hearted girl.
But being able to unlock the previously unheard-of Beast Tamer profession, if she could really tame Ice Plains Wolves, it was almost unimaginable how amazing that would be! Forget taming wolves, wouldn’t this kind of profession at its peak allow one to tame dragons!?
Then riding dragons and flying over towns, with everyone looking up in admiration as you depart in style!
Just thinking about it was incredible, so cool!
Unfortunately, the boys could only dream, unable to unlock this profession.
When the guildmaster returned, they informed him of this, and he immediately announced: “Great! Then everyone will protect Miss Qianmeng and assist her in trying to tame the Ice Plains Wolves!”
“Hehe, is it finally my turn to be a flower protector?”
“Don’t be so smug. You can’t even beat Youmi. She’s a girl but uses magic better than you and is higher level too.”
“Charge! I’ll form the head! No, I mean I’ll take the lead!”

From the short summary it gave Yuri illusion but from what I am reading it’s nothing like that
The protagonist isn’t going to change bodies until chapter 27, so it’s normal to feel that way. Just treat all the chapters before that as a long prologue, the real story starts from there.
how often do the paid chapters release?
well, for this novel, I want to say as fast as the author publishes new chapters. But the latest translated chapter has already caught up to the raw, and the author themselves has simply disappeared, so let’s hope they return soon.
Ah ok
Yes, Let’s hope
