Chapter 56: Punishment of the Sinner
***
The white-haired girl, surrounded by a blood-red and black aura, stood floating on the snow. Her crimson eyes, more vivid than fresh blood, were fixed with murderous intent on the white-masked man before her.
From the blade of her scythe, drops of crimson blood fell.
The suddenly pivoting blade made no secret of its next target: him.
“What…!” In an instant, a terrible chill ran up his spine.
The pupils beneath his mask trembled violently as he slowly turned his neck with great effort to look at his companion who had just been killed and vanished.
What happened?
Hey, could someone tell him what just happened?
When was Red Mask killed?
Wait, killed?
It wasn’t a human fear, but rather the terror of being stared at by a demon, of sinking into an abyss of dread. It was as if what he faced wasn’t a player in the game, but some terrifying monster from this world!
“Clang—!”
A violent clash of metal rang out. Even though he had raised his sword at the extreme limit of his body’s reflexes, immediately abandoning any thought of attack in favor of a defensive stance.
But when that surprisingly heavy scythe struck his blade, the terrible shock that felt like it would shatter his entire body nearly stopped his breathing.
At the moment of impact, the white-masked man’s body shot backward like a cannonball, crashing violently against the ground several times before finally colliding with a tree trunk. He fell to the ground in a daze, eyes wide open.
The white mask on his face instantly shattered into fragments, revealing his twisted, terrified face.
He stared at his sword, which had been flung away and now stood planted in the snow.
“B-boss?” The arrogant smiles that had been on the faces of the red-named players instantly froze.
“H-how is this possible? Red Mask was instantly…”
The red-named players’ leader looked at his drastically reduced HP bar. His full 5,000+ health points had been reduced to just over 1,000 in a single hit. If he had chosen to attack instead of defend, he would have instantly perished just like Red Mask.
What terrifying attack power…
Was this something a player should possess? Was this woman an NPC? A monster? Or a BOSS?
“Attack together! She gave all her healing potions to that little girl earlier, if we just…”
Green Mask suddenly extended a pair of iron claws from his sleeves, but just as he took his stance, he instantly sensed a ghost-like figure with glowing blood-red eyes standing beside him.
A drop of cold sweat slid down his cheek.
Damn it… this woman.
The next moment, a red blade of light seemed to tear through space, leaving an eye-like bloody light in the air before gradually converging into a flat line that passed through Green Mask’s body, instantly cutting him in two.
The face beneath the mask showed nothing but terror as he stared at Tilia in shock.
Having removed her fur coat, she stood proudly in the snowstorm, untouched by a single speck of dust. Her exquisitely beautiful face, like that of an elf, remained devoid of any emotion, her blood-colored pupils containing only chaotic killing intent.
“What… is happening?”
Green Mask’s eyes widened as he fell to his knees, his body instantly shattering into crystal fragments before disappearing.
Only now did the remaining red-named players finally realize they had provoked something they shouldn’t have. Among all the players they had attacked until now, they had never encountered such a situation, one person suppressing so many others was simply impossible.
Could she be from the Iris Knights?
No, she wasn’t wearing a guild uniform, but besides that guild which they most feared and dared not attack, what other player could be so powerful?
A demon, the woman before them was no ordinary player.
Not human, but a demon through and through!!!
“Hey, hey… something’s not right here, is this… is this someone we can handle?” Blue Mask’s voice began to waver.
“Who came up with this terrible idea? I knew something was off when we found a lone female player in a cave. I said from the beginning, whoever decided this should deal with it themselves. I’m not risking my life!”
“Clearly, clearly there’s something wrong with this woman. Just how high level is she!?”
As he finished speaking, one of the red-named players turned and ran toward the snowy forest.
But in the next second, he found his feet as if locked in place, becoming impossibly heavy. He couldn’t even take a step forward. Looking back, he saw Tilia raising her hand, her palm emanating a black orb of light that grew increasingly powerful.
— 【Intermediate Gravity Magic】
“AAAAHHH!”
An incredibly miserable scream echoed through the sky. The red-named player trying to escape felt the gravity growing heavier and heavier, until the ground beneath his feet cracked and shattered. His HP rapidly decreased, from green to yellow, and then to red…
Finally, Tilia’s gaze turned cold as she crushed the black orb in her hand, instantly compressing his body into fragments.
By now, three of the six red-named players had been instantly eliminated.
“Aaaah! No, no, don’t kill me…” Seeing this tragic scene, one of the cowardly red-named players immediately sat down on the ground. “It was all their decision, they were the ones who provoked you! It has nothing to do with me!!!”
“I’ll give you all my items, just don’t kill me… I don’t want to die…”
However, as the black hem of her dress drifted past him, his gaping mouth suddenly froze. A crimson cross-slash passed through his body, and his HP was instantly emptied.
When they were taking the lives of other players, why didn’t they think about repentance? What arrogant and ugly faces they had shown.
Did they think that because it was a game world, they wouldn’t have to bear any responsibility?
Knowing the death rules, yet still depriving others of their right to survive. Watching other players beg in fear, making them die in despair, wantonly killing and toying with others, was it fun? Was it interesting?
Beating Cross, a fragile little girl, until she was covered in wounds, nearly killing her in such a brutal manner.
What, exactly, did they think human life was worth?
“Go to hell!”
With a slashing sound, Tilia’s ice-cold eyes glanced over as she withdrew her scythe.
When the red-named player leader regained consciousness from the violent impact, he saw only the white-haired girl in black dress, raising her scythe high, impaling the last red-named player in mid-air, coldly looking up.
With a metallic sound, the scythe swung, and another red light flashed in the air.
“You’ve got to be kidding…” The team that had originally consisted of six people now had only him left as the leader, and the terrifying suppressive power had made the difference in their combat strength painfully clear.
Complete suppression…
They couldn’t even put up a fight, let alone attack together.
What had they encountered today?
“We’ve lost… don’t, don’t come any closer!”
The red-named leader pressed his back tightly against the tree trunk, frantically kicking his legs as he watched Tilia approaching step by step. The fear in his eyes deepened, “Miss, Madam… no, Queen, sp-spare my life,”
“We, we can make a deal. If you kill people, you’ll become red-named too, you…”
Tilia’s gaze slowly darkened as she gave a cold laugh.
“Red-named?” Her Rose Scythe emitted an eerie red light as her high heels left one imprint after another in the snow. “No, killing red-named players like you won’t turn me red-named.”
“It seems this game world — doesn’t intend to protect murderers either!”
A judging crimson death scythe suddenly fell from the suspended air, instantly transforming into countless star fragments.
