Chapter 55: Have You Said Enough?

***

In the Ice Cave Camp (Lv.15).

The extinguished campfire had been knocked over, two strings of freshly grilled fish scattered on the ground. The petite girl with azure blue hair lay on the ground covered in wounds, breathing with difficulty, her magic staff nowhere to be found.

Cross’s magic robe had become tattered, and the durability of her equipment had decreased to red.

Her body was almost entirely covered in wounds, with a horrifying gash on her thigh still bleeding profusely. Her fair arms were covered in knife cuts, and even her face bore a scar. Her loose hair was spread messily on the ground.

Tilia Scarlet crouched before the injured girl lying on the ground. When she saw the series of DEBUFFs in Cross’s BUFF bar including 【Severe Injury】, 【Bleeding】, and 【Dazed】, her expression became extremely grim.

Just from the 【Severe Injury】 DEBUFF alone, one could tell how desperately this petite mage girl had fought.

She had so many wounds across her body that they were impossible to count. She had used healing potions countless times to maintain her HP value, only to be injured again and again, until finally she was in a state of severe injury, losing all ability to resist.

It was like watching a cruel torture scene unfold.

Finally, she had held on until the white-haired girl returned. Seeing Tilia’s silhouette through her darkening vision, she struggled to open her mouth and said weakly: “I’m… I’m sorry… Tilia, I… couldn’t beat them… you should run.”

“There are many of them… I don’t think I can hold on much longer, you need to escape…”

Cross’s vision gradually blurred with tears. A crystalline teardrop slowly fell from the corner of her eye as she trembled with pale lips, revealing an expression of immense sorrow. “Remember… to avenge me later, I’m sorry…”

She gradually released Tilia’s hand, trying with her last bit of strength to push her away.

But in the next second, she felt her hand being grasped even more firmly by Tilia, who continuously used healing potions on her, barely maintaining her declining red HP value.

Tilia crouched on the ground, holding Cross’s hand with a grim face, her shoulders trembling violently.

It had been so close. If she had returned even a moment later, she might never have seen Cross again. Cross had nearly died at the hands of these bastards with red arrows displayed above their heads.

Red-named players, the villains in this game who aimed to kill other players.

Criminals who preyed on the lives of others in this death game.

“Cross, wait for me a moment. I’ll go get your magic staff back right away. Then I’ll take you back to the safe town area for treatment. Just hang on a little longer.” Tilia gently stroked Cross’s dust-covered cheek, looking into those tear-glistening large eyes.

“No… don’t…”

Cross’s gaze was filled with anxiety and concern, but she no longer had the strength to stop Tilia.

Meanwhile, outside the ice cave camp.

Several red-named players wearing masks and black robes were standing there.

One of them had fallen to the ground, grimacing in pain with a distorted face, screaming heartrendingly. Just moments ago, a flash of crimson blade light had crossed his body, causing him to lose an arm.

“Hahahahaha, we’ve really struck gold. So there was a teammate after all?”

“Boss, boss, look at the magic staff we took from that little girl. It’s actually blue quality, called ‘Forest Deer King’s Staff’ and even has special attribute modifiers! This is quite an unexpected harvest, though none of us use magic staves.”

“Then just sell it, what else?”

“Hey, boss. Black Mask doesn’t look good. Can an arm that’s been cut off in this game be reattached? He’s losing blood continuously. Is he going to die just like that!?”

“What a useless piece of trash, getting cut down by a little woman with just one slash. Should I give him the final blow and at least collect his items?”

The red-named players in black robes burst into laughter as someone casually tossed a healing potion to the guy struggling on the ground.

Listening to the carefree laughter of these murderers behind her, Tilia released Cross’s hand and slowly stood up, gripping the Rose Scythe in her hand. She turned her face sideways, staring at them with pupils flashing crimson light.

In an instant, the intimidation released by those murderous blood-red eyes made several red-named players pause momentarily.

“Hey, what’s with this woman? Why are her eyes red? Looks kind of scary. Did she just cut Black Mask down to critical HP with one slash?”

“Are you afraid? Hehehehe, Black Mask probably didn’t equip defensive gear.” The player with the red mask holding a dagger let out a weird, sinister laugh. “Don’t forget there are six of us. Are we really going to fear one woman?”

No matter what, these self-proclaimed pioneer players were at most only level twenty-something, not particularly high. On their side, everyone was also at level twenty, giving them an overwhelming advantage in numbers.

Before coming here, they had just eliminated a small team of only three players. Ordinary players only knew how to fight monsters; when it came to fighting other players, they were often caught unprepared, not to mention when their levels were lower.

In their eyes, this blue-haired mage girl’s teammate was just another lamb delivered to their doorstep.

“…” Watching Tilia approaching them with a grim face, facing the wind and snow, silently holding her scythe, the leader wearing a white mask licked his lips. Under his mask, the corners of his mouth curled into a dark smile.

How interesting. Seeing her teammate beaten like that, instead of running away immediately, she dared to come forward?

What, playing the whole comrades and friends act?

“Heheheheh, boss, this woman must have precious equipment too. Let’s quickly kill her while no one else is around. That scythe of hers looks pretty nice. I call dibs on it first.” Red Mask impatiently wiped his dagger, eager to take action.

“Just now I saw her use more than a hundred healing potions on her teammate, including intermediate healing potions. She really values her friend, huh? How extravagant~” The man in the green mask said with sarcasm. “Could it be that she didn’t save any for herself? Hahaha…”

“Don’t rush. Let’s have some fun with this.”

White Mask stopped his subordinate, stepped forward, and then announced loudly: “Hey, woman. You can’t possibly defeat so many of us, but let me give you a chance. Let’s play a game, shall we?”

“This subordinate of mine seems very eager to fight you. So, you two can have a 1v1.”

“If you win, we’ll let you go. If you lose, heheheheh… I’ll let you choose: either we kill you, or your teammate lying over there dies in your place, and you just watch her die. How about that?”

“Boss, you’re so cruel. Hehehehe, making someone choose to kill their own teammate. They seem to share such a deep friendship right now~”

“Well then, Red Mask, you can just…”

Just as the red-named player with the white mask was about to speak.

A flash of black and white lightning instantly illuminated his entire field of vision. With a ringing metallic sound, before anyone could realize what had happened, Tilia was already standing beside him, holding the severed head of the player with the red mask.

And in the team list, the red-named player called “Red Mask”—

His HP value had dropped to 0 almost instantly.

They hadn’t even noticed the HP bar moving; it was as if it had been emptied in an instant. Without even a scream, they just heard a thud as the separated head and body both shattered into fragments.

Tilia slowly raised her downcast eyes, revealing a fierce gaze. The blood markings under her eyes became extremely bright. “Have you said enough?”
