Chapter 45: Silly Group Friends Guild
***
“Listen up, we’ve already received information about the third floor map from the closed beta players.”
“The location where we are now is on the southern side of this map. The northernmost area is the main city called Ice Snow City. To the west is the Snow Bear Forest region, to the east is the Ice Plain Wolf gathering ground, and to the northwest is the Mountain Yeti Tribe’s stronghold. We must avoid these dangerous areas.”
“We’ll encounter some wild beast attacks along the way, but our 【Silly Group Friends Guild】 has reached an average level of Lv.14, and we have 7 people in our team. Those common enemies won’t be any problem for us. We just need to ensure our travel direction remains correct to reach the safe zone. Does everyone understand? Any objections? If you have any thoughts, speak up now!”
On the snow plains of the third floor.
A group of people were taking a temporary rest under a small snow pine forest.
The man in the lead wearing a black iron armor, who appeared to be the leader of this group and also the guildmaster of the 【Silly Group Friends Guild】, was using the break time to point out something on a glowing screen map floating in the air to the guild members.
Because they hadn’t explored the area yet, the map was completely covered in fog, and they could only roughly establish a direction, clearly identifying Ice Snow City as their destination.
Seeing that none of the team members had any objections, the guildmaster continued: “Next, we’ll assign tasks. I’ll lead at the front, Yezi and Youmi will support me with ranged magic, Raven will be responsible for finding nearby treasure chests along the way, Doctor Mercury will handle healing, and everyone else will fill in where needed!”
“Oh right, Duoduo, didn’t you say you have rich survival and wilderness hunting experience? We’re counting on you for detecting beast attacks!”
“Uh… well.” The youth named Duoduo carried a bow on his back, wore a feathered hat, and scratched his cheek awkwardly before saying, “Does Monster Hunter count? In the game…”
“Wow, that’s not just hunting beasts, that’s rich dragon hunting experience! Even more impressive, brother.”
“Pfft. It’s fine, we’re in a game now too, so it’s all the same.”
The other members couldn’t help teasing him. They were all friends who knew each other from the same chat group and had agreed to play together when the game 《Floating Island: Fragments of the Stars》 officially launched, but they ended up all trapped inside the game.
Thus, they formed the 【Silly Group Friends Guild】, and the current seven members were all very familiar with each other, regular active members of the chat group.
Hearing everyone’s teasing and comfort, Duoduo casually added: “Ahem… as we all know, there are two ways to interpret Monster Hunter. Unfortunately, I happen to be the second type, with rich experience in being hunted and throwing controllers…”
“Alright, alright, we’ll go with this arrangement!” The guildmaster clapped his hands, interrupting everyone’s chat and teasing.
“Currently, no one has been able to cross the snow and wind area to reach the main city. It’s time for us to seize this opportunity to be the first to reach Ice Snow City, spread the name of our 【Silly Group Friends Guild】, attract more people to join us, and consolidate stronger power. Moving through the snow is difficult, but we all already have 【Common】 grade cold weather outfits, so we can get through if we’re careful and methodical…”
Before the guildmaster could finish, everyone’s attention suddenly shifted to the distance.
A giant deer emitting a jade green light was carrying two girls, lightly leaping across the snow. Its four hooves weren’t even touching the snow but stepping on floating magic arrays, passing by them at extremely high speed before quickly disappearing into the distance.
To be precise, it was Tilia, sitting sideways on the deer spirit, whose gaze met theirs for a few seconds.
Everyone looked at each other, momentarily dumbfounded.
“Guildmaster, you said moving through the snow is difficult… is that really true?”
“What! Where did that mount come from? Does this game have mounts? Did we miss some information!?”
“What’s that flashing thing above that girl’s head?”
Some of them had noticed the title Tilia was wearing above her head, which provided a 5% movement speed bonus and had very eye-catching title effects, displaying the words 【I Heard You Can Run Fast?】 that bobbed up and down as she gradually disappeared into the snowstorm.
Maximum mockery! Especially for those watching their figures departing so triumphantly.
“Holy crap! I can’t take this! Chase them! We were here first, we must be the first to reach Ice Snow City!!!”
“Chaaaaarge!”
With one command, the Silly Group Friends Guild immediately rallied under their guildmaster’s leadership. Filled with righteous indignation, they grabbed their weapons and chased straight after the two girls, their impressive momentum startling Cross, who was guiding the deer spirit ahead.
“What’s wrong, Tilia? Did we attract monsters?”
“I-I don’t know… it seems like some people want to reach the safe zone before us.”
Tilia felt somewhat embarrassed, thinking that if those players chasing behind heard her say this, not only were they easily crossing the snow plains on such a cheating mount right in front of them, but she was also referring to them as monsters, they would probably turn red with anger…
Gradually, the commotion behind them grew quieter. Those people ultimately couldn’t keep up with their speed.
Meanwhile, the surrounding snow and wind noticeably intensified. The bone-chilling cold grew stronger, and the sky around them seemed to suddenly darken. Howling winds carrying snow swept past their ears, making it difficult to distinguish between day and night.
Clearly, they had entered the wind and snow area.
This was where countless players had been forced to stop, but true to Xaya’s perfect cold weather outfit, the accumulation of cold values was very slow. At the same time, in the distant snow mist, pairs of red glowing eyes appeared, as a pack of wandering ice plain wolves began to target them.
“Be careful, Cross, we’re in the wind and snow area.”
— Wait, what’s that sound?
Just as Tilia was preparing to deal with the monsters, a strange unfamiliar feeling suddenly surged in her heart.
“Tilia, something seems to be climbing up from the ground ahead!”
Suddenly, after the sound of snow falling, an unknown giant body slowly rose from in front of them. Then the entire ground seemed to shake, like the footsteps of something terrifyingly heavy, echoing in the fog where visibility was less than twenty meters.
Cross looked around helplessly, unable to determine the direction of the sound.
And in an instant, a giant foot swept through the snow mist, stepping on and killing several ice plain wolves with one stomp.
“This is…” Tilia’s eyes widened as she raised her head. Through the snow mist, she actually saw a massive shadow that blotted out the sky, standing right in front of them, with a pair of red glowing eyes flashing at the highest part of its head.
Compared to that enormous body, in the gradually widening camera shot, they and their deer spirit mount were so small as to be almost invisible in the frame.
Such a massive monster… an elite creature?
Damn… she had never seen anything like this on the third floor, and the size was a bit too exaggerated, right? At least fifty meters in height? For such a huge wilderness monster, what would its level be…?
