Chapter 42: Eternal Night Servant and Maid
***
“Wow, an Intermediate Tailor! This is my first time seeing one!”
“Miss Xaya, please be kind, do you have more? Make us a set too! Those two girls just got theirs for free!”
“An Intermediate Tailor? Interesting, I should ask the guildmaster if we want to order cold weather outfits here…”
“Hahaha… I’m afraid not. Those two children received special treatment~ If you want something now, you’ll need to pay.” Miss Xaya smiled charmingly as a group of players who had heard the news gathered in front of her clothing shop.
After Miss Xaya smilingly shook her head in refusal, the other players let out disappointed sighs of “aww, why not?”
But Tilia’s objective wasn’t to return to the clothing shop. Instead, she was weaving through the stream of people, her gaze constantly shifting from one passing player to another, trying to identify whoever had been secretly watching her and Cross.
Strange, was it a player? Or an NPC?
If it was a player, there should be a green arrow above their head as an identifier, but Tilia hadn’t seen one. So was it an NPC? But what kind of NPC would follow them so secretly? She was certain that gaze had been observing them.
And… rather than Cross, the gaze seemed to be constantly fixed on herself.
“Hey, beautiful lady, want to check out some healing potions? I just crafted a batch of Basic Healing Potions, all at cost price, absolutely cheap and good value.”
“Hmm?” Tilia turned her head to see a lit potion shop. Pretending to be interested in making a purchase, she walked toward the shop and asked the player selling potions: “Do you have any Intermediate Healing Potions?”
“Ah, Inter-intermediate… Wait, could you be one of the Pioneer Group Players? Usually Basic Healing Potions are enough…”
“Yes, my level is relatively high, and Basic Healing Potions aren’t sufficient anymore.”
“O-okay.” The potion-making sister showed an embarrassed expression, crossing her hands in front of her body and smiling: “Sorry, my alchemy level isn’t high enough for intermediate potions yet, and I think the materials for Intermediate Healing Potions are only found on higher floors. Maybe come back and check again after some time!”
“That’s fine…” Tilia replied casually while scanning her surroundings with her peripheral vision.
Suddenly, her gaze caught something. “Who’s there!”
Without any hesitation, under the potion maker’s startled expression, Tilia turned sideways, her dark cloak fluttering as she shot forward at incredible speed, almost like she was propelled, darting to the corner of the street before stopping abruptly with her heels.
Meanwhile, the shadow that had been watching her also flashed away at extremely high speed.
So fast!? Someone with speed that matches mine?
Tilia didn’t let the shadow escape and immediately gave chase. The shadow ahead moved rapidly, seemingly intentionally leading her somewhere, and she could clearly see there was no green arrow above its head, not a player!
If it was an NPC, then in this scenario, it must be triggering some special quest?
Soon, as the pursuit took them toward the edge of the city district where players became increasingly scarce, Tilia simply deployed her vampire black wings and took to the air, locking onto the small figure rapidly fleeing on the ground like a hawk targeting its prey.
Such a small figure, looks like a girl?
“Fall!” Tilia summoned her Blood Moon Scythe in mid-air, twisted her slender waist for half a turn, gripped the scythe with her arm, and traced a crescent moon in the air before throwing it straight down with a thunderous landing!
As sparks scattered across the cobblestone path, with a loud bang, the scythe struck directly in front of the small figure, while the ground, being a safe zone, displayed a prompt saying 【Cannot Attack】.
But it effectively blocked the path, forcing the figure to stop.
“The cat and mouse game ends here, Miss Stalker.”
Tilia’s toes lightly touched the ground as she retracted her black wings, unlike those of ordinary people, which transformed into a stream of crimson light. Her long legs in black stockings crossed elegantly as she landed gracefully on the ground and smirked.
They were now at a corner of the Pure White Holy City’s wall.
It seemed the stalker had run into a dead end and, after Tilia blocked the only exit, apparently gave up on escaping further.
But one thing caught Tilia by surprise.
For some reason, above this NPC’s head was the identifier that only appeared for “team members,” even though she hadn’t formed a party with them at all.
Could this be some kind of bug?
Standing at the base of the tall city wall with nowhere to retreat, the small figure suddenly let out a series of bell-like, melodious laughs.
“Tee-hee, so cool! Worthy of being Princess!”
“Wh-what?” Before Tilia could react, she became instantly alert and stepped back.
The small figure turned around quickly, jumping straight into her arms. There was a rustling sound of fabric, and as the concealing hood fell away, a beautiful and cute little face was revealed before her eyes.
Those emerald-clear eyes stared intently at her, with the chin resting on Tilia’s chest and arms wrapped around her waist.
Hey, what’s going on? Where did this little troublemaker come from!?
Wait, what did she just call her? P-Princess?
“Feeko has finally met you, Princess!”
“Wait, Feeko? How do you know… No, who exactly are you?”
The petite green-haired girl revealed a set of small white teeth, smiling at Tilia. With a voice sweet as honey, and under Tilia’s completely bewildered gaze, she released her arms from around Tilia’s waist and stepped back to her previous position.
Ah, I got too excited. I must not forget my manners in front of the Princess.
The girl named Feeko gently pinched the skirt beneath her cloak, her legs in translucent white stockings crossing elegantly, shimmering with a pearly luster under the moonlight. Her feet, clad in black round-toed small leather shoes, pressed against each other, and she lowered her head slightly while bending her knees.
With an adorable yet respectful smile, she performed a noble curtsy.
“Eternal Night Servant Maid Corps, Feeko.”
“To my master, the most beautiful woman in the world, Princess Tilia, I offer my highest respects.”
