Chapter 35: The First In-Game Event
***
On the second day after the BOSS was conquered.
All players could discover that in the so-called 【The Order of the Ever-Turning Stars
】, which is the game’s event page, there appeared promotional posters occupying a very large section. The posters featured scenic views of the Pure White Holy City and various town areas.
The activity page automatically scrolled through the town posters, accompanied by exaggerated artistic colorful text such as “Don’t miss the stunning night views of the city!”, “Greatly increased experience gain!”, “All delicious dishes at limited-time discount prices!”
The first promotional poster showed the Pure White Holy City at night with fireworks rising.
In the promotional image, in front of the brilliantly lit cathedral’s wishing fountain, several young women dressed as maids were holding trays and fine wine, displaying joyful celebratory smiles, a scene that instinctively attracted people to participate in the festivities.
Below the scrolling promotional posters were the details of the event.
✨「Glory of the Starforgers」 Celebration Festival (Limited Time)✨
Event Time: Tonight 20:00~02:00 the next day
Recommended Participation Level: Lv.1~Lv.999
Among the event contents, the most notable was a special experience boost. In the town celebration area, all players could gain 100 Exp/minute as natural experience growth, with a maximum cap of 12,000 Exp. All benefits could be obtained by participating for two hours.
Additionally, all dishes and drinks in the town restaurants were offered at 50% discount, and consuming them would apparently grant a 【Festival Satiation】 BUFF (+15% to all attributes). This buff would last for three days and could not be overwritten.
This was the first event to appear since the start of 《Floating Island: Fragments of the Stars》, and it was created specifically to celebrate the BOSS conquest. During the closed beta, there had been no mention of such events.
In the morning, sunlight shone rather piercingly on the streets of Morning Dew Town.
Tilia Scarlet was checking the content of the game event while heading to the outskirts prairie with Cross, a young girl wearing a magic robe.
They had just accepted a side quest for gathering, with the goal of collecting 100 high-quality pasture grasses. The reward for the quest was building a good relationship with the owner of the pasture south of Morning Dew Town, allowing them to receive 2 bottles of milk for free every day thereafter.
It seemed quite appealing to have milk delivered exclusively as a breakfast supplement every morning upon waking up.
Occasionally, when not venturing out to explore and fight monsters, such simple side quests could serve as a rather leisurely balance, considering that the first floor no longer posed a threat to most players and had been “completely conquered” in the true sense.
“Thank you very much, young ladies. Since the Starforgers arrived, many things have become much more convenient, which is wonderful.”
Inside the pasture’s wooden cabin, the pasture owner, wearing a straw hat, held a pitchfork in one hand while wiping away sweat and smiling.
In the end, Tilia collected 70 plants while Cross completed the remaining 30, submitting a total of 100 high-quality pasture grasses to the pasture owner.
After confirming the quantity of grass, the pasture owner summoned the game system beside him. Tilia clearly saw him click on the settlement under the 【Recruitment Task】 column, and then a notification box for task completion and reward acquisition popped up on their side.
Even though they weren’t players, they possessed the game system… or rather, the so-called “Star Terminal”?
This was also something that wasn’t present during the closed beta. Basically, rewards would pop up immediately after delivering the quest items, just like in games, quick and illogical. But now, the NPCs acted as employers posting bounty tasks according to their own needs.
“By the way, are you two sisters?”
“Eh? N-no, why do you ask?” Tilia glanced sideways at Cross.
“No reason, it just feels that way. It’s like an older sister taking her younger sister out to travel, looking very harmonious.” The pasture owner laughed. “I heard the Starforgers have already reached the third floor. They say it’s very cold there, so be prepared.”
“Alright, thank you for the reminder.” Tilia nodded.
Just like in MMO exploration games, when chatting with NPCs, they would inadvertently reveal some information? For example, the information that the third floor was a snow plain could be gleaned from casual NPC conversations even before actually setting foot on the third floor.
But… sisters? He probably meant she looked like the older sister, right?
Although after becoming a young girl, her height had certainly decreased quite a bit, she still seemed to be slightly taller than Cross.
“The payment has been delivered to you. Try today’s fresh milk, and remember to come help when you have time.” The pasture owner waved to the two young women as they left. Soon, other players came to deliver tasks, and he became busy talking to others.
On the way back, Tilia and Cross were also asked by others about the pasture grass quest.
“Excuse me, beautiful ladies, is the quest for receiving two bottles of milk daily in this direction?”
“Ah, yes. Continue in the direction we came from, and when you see a pasture, just talk to the pasture owner there.” Cross turned around and pointed in the direction they had just come from.
“Thank you, that’s a big help.” A player carrying a bow, similar to a ranger class, politely thanked Cross.
“Everyone seems very interested in this side quest.” Cross turned back to Tilia.
“Yes, after all, it’s a newly appeared side quest. I heard it was available when the server first opened, but later too many people were doing this quest, and the pasture owner couldn’t consume all the grass at once, so the quest was closed. Now it’s reopened.”
“That’s so realistic… I thought quests would always be available, but it turns out they can only be triggered based on circumstances.”
“Indeed, it’s almost too realistic…” Tilia gently pinched her lower lip, seemingly in thought, then looked up with a smile and said: “But that’s also the charm of MMORPGs, massive multiplayer online games. Especially in games with minimal guidance like this, players ask each other about quest acceptance points, explore together with friends they meet by chance, and help each other.”
Cross was slightly taken aback, and she was indeed gradually understanding the charm of this game.
However, when Tilia just said that, hahaha, for some reason it sounded a bit like Nolan’s tone. That guy’s words were also filled with immersion and love for this game.
Perhaps Tilia and Nolan were both similarly devoted game enthusiasts.
“By the way, there’s a celebration event for the BOSS conquest in the main city area of Pure White Holy City at 8 PM. Do you want to attend?” asked Tilia.
“I saw that too!” Cross summoned the game interface and quickly searched for the event announcement. “It says if we attend, we can gain experience just by being idle, right? And all food is half-price… my treat!”
“Eh, why? I do have some savings, I’m not completely penniless.”
“Well…” Cross’s voice gradually weakened, her gaze shifting to the side. A slight blush of embarrassment appeared on her fair face, and she gripped her staff more tightly. “I want to make it up to you, since I offended Tilia this morning…”
Was it really just an offense? Burying her face in the other’s full, soft cleavage and nearly rubbing off her underwear.
Cross knew she had a bad habit when sleeping, whenever there was a girl sleeping beside her, she would unconsciously be attracted to that fragrant scent until she woke up and realized she was hugging the other person. It happened with her sister too, and she had received quite a few knocks on the head for it.
First of all, she wasn’t a lesbian! She forgot the second, and the rest is forgotten too!
“Well, I’m actually not that bothered by it…” Tilia also blushed slightly, her slender finger gently scratching her cheek, trying to appear calm.
