Finding a job.
This was the pain in Zhou Ming’s heart.
If there were enough money to cover his expenses for a lifetime, he would rather stay at home and live off the fat of the land than go to work.
He had to be cautious in dealing with colleagues, strive to create value for the company, ensure that his boss was satisfied and looked favorably upon him, and finally, hope that the company remained stable and did not suddenly lay off employees.
But reality was just that cruel. In this money-driven era, even a beggar risked going hungry if they didn’t beg for a week. Zhou Ming, who had been holed up in his rental room for over a month without much going out, had reached the point where he had to go out and look for a job.
Zhou Ming also thought of the system. With its powerful functions, it should be a piece of cake for it to help him solve the problem of food and shelter, right?
“Sorry, host, the system currently cannot provide you with system props that can materialize items. Once you unlock higher-level game maps, a Materialization Chest will appear in the Items section of the system mall. You can use it in the corresponding game map. After using it, you can bring the items stored in the Materialization Chest back to reality.”
“Materialization Chest?”
Zhou Ming became excited and immediately found the Materialization Chest, which was still locked, in the Items section of the system mall and clicked to view it.
Item: Materialization Chest
Function: Can bring items from the game back to reality
Unlock Requirement: Unlock after completing the Level 3 map Prosperous Era
Exchange Requirement: 1,000,000 Achievement Points
“One, two, three… six, I spit, to exchange for a Materialization Chest requires 1 million Achievement Points. System, are you kidding me?” Seeing the long string of zeros after the exchange requirement, Zhou Ming felt like spitting out a mouthful of old blood. He was so frustrated that he almost wanted to strangle the system.
By the time he accumulated that many Achievement Points, he would probably have starved to death long ago.
“System, besides the Materialization Chest, is there anything else that can slightly improve my current situation?”
Even if it was just a bag of rice that could be exchanged in the system mall, it would be fine. As long as he didn’t starve to death, he would eventually become prosperous with this system.
“There doesn’t seem to be anything else, except for a few attribute cards that the host can use.”
“Attribute cards, there are attribute cards that I can use?”
Zhou Ming became excited. Most of the skill cards in the system mall could only be used by game characters in the game maps. He didn’t expect there to be cards that could be directly used on himself. He immediately urged the system, “Show me those attribute cards quickly.”
A product panel was displayed, and the system explained the cards: “These attribute cards are Intelligence Boost Card, Strength Boost Card, and Agility Boost Card. After purchasing and using them, they can increase the corresponding physical attributes of the host by 1 point.”
“What about the exchange requirements, how many Achievement Points do they need?”
“Intelligence Card requires 1500 Achievement Points, Strength Card requires 1000 points, and Agility Card requires 1200.”
“Not expensive, not expensive at all, just a little over a thousand points each, I can afford them, I can definitely afford them!”
Zhou Ming rubbed his hands excitedly, feeling that the future was bright. Although each of these attribute cards could only increase his physical attributes by a limited 1 point, the effect would definitely be astonishing if he used a large number of them!
He imagined using thousands of Strength Boost Cards and then showing off his superhuman abilities, such as smashing steel and lifting thousands of pounds. Ordinary Earth people would probably be stunned and their eyes would pop out, right?
And the Intelligence Boost Card. He always felt that his intelligence was not enough. After adding several thousand points of intelligence, he should be able to outperform ordinary geniuses, right?
Zhou Ming’s saliva couldn’t help but flow as he entered a daydreaming state.
“Host, these attribute cards can only tap into the host’s own potential. Beyond the potential that can be tapped, the attribute cards will become ineffective,” the system suddenly poured cold water on him.
“Ineffective, why would they become ineffective?” Zhou Ming was puzzled and asked.
“As an ordinary carbon-based life form, the total entropy energy that the host’s body can accommodate is limited. Further tapping will not break through the limitations of a fixed life form… unless you can transform the life form itself and break through this limitation.”
“You mean, no matter how many attribute cards I use, the final effect will not exceed the limits of human beings?” Zhou Ming began to understand. What the system was saying probably resembled the concepts of “bloodline” or “gene lock” in some infinite flow novels.
However, even if he couldn’t break through the limits of humanity, reaching or approaching the so-called “limit” would still make him much stronger than ordinary people, right? He didn’t need to be able to fly, move mountains, or overturn seas; just being close to that level would be fine.
“I don’t need to recharge my intelligence urgently. Let’s buy a few strength cards first.”
So, in order to find a job smoothly and solve the problem of food and shelter, Zhou Ming clicked to purchase three Strength Boost Cards and used them immediately.
A tingling electric current flowed through his entire body. The muscles on his chest and back slowly bulged, his blood flow accelerated, his body became hot, sweat dripped down his cheeks like a waterfall, and the little creature in his crotch also seemed to be developing towards the direction of a deep-sea eel.
Half an hour later, Zhou Ming, who was full of energy, lightly jumped and touched the ceiling that he could never reach before. He looked down at his crotch and grinned, “Hehe, I didn’t expect the strength card to have such a magical effect. Now I don’t have to worry about my girlfriend running away.”
Although, this guy who was still a virgin did not have a girlfriend.
“Off to find a job!”
Putting on a coat, Zhou Ming walked out of the door with full confidence.
…
In the west of the city, a huge construction site was bustling with activity. Countless giant construction machines were working hard to build.
In the corner of the construction site fence, under a residential building that was already more than half built, Zhou Ming wearing a safety helmet walked over.
“Boss, does your construction site need bricklayers?”
Zhou Ming walked up to a middle-aged man who looked like a contractor.
The middle-aged contractor glanced at Zhou Ming, glanced at his thin and weak body, and waved his hand, “Young man, bricklaying is not a job for ordinary people. You’d better look somewhere else.”
“Boss, let me give it a try. If I can do it, let me stay. If I can’t, I’ll leave on my own,” Zhou Ming called out to the contractor who was about to turn and leave.
Seeing Zhou Ming’s determined expression, the contractor thought for a moment and said to the construction supervisor nearby, “Give this guy a half-day trial. If he can’t do it, he’ll leave on his own.”
The construction supervisor pulled Zhou Ming aside and pointed to a pile of bricks as high as a small mountain not far away, “Young man, start here first. Move this pile of bricks to the hoist over there.”
“Okay!” Nodding his head, Zhou Ming rolled up his sleeves and began to work hard.
Soon, an afternoon passed. Zhou Ming’s steps became heavier and heavier, and his palms were rubbed with many blisters. He wiped the sweat off his forehead, gritted his teeth, and before dark, he moved the last few bricks to the side of the hoist and then told the construction supervisor that he had finished.
The construction supervisor checked Zhou Ming’s work results and nodded slightly, “Alright, young man, you’ve passed the trial. Come to work tomorrow, remember to come early!”
“Thank you, boss! I’ll come early.”
Zhou Ming exhaled deeply. A bricklayer on the construction site was the most suitable job for him at the moment. This was because a bricklayer had to meet the brick needs of several buildings at the same time. The labor intensity was very high, and the working hours were long. It was difficult for ordinary people to work continuously for three days. Therefore, the bricklayers on each construction site were not fixed. Moreover, the wages were paid daily. Working one day could earn more than three hundred yuan, which was the most suitable for someone who had strength and wanted to make some quick money.
Zhou Ming had also worked on the construction site before, but he could only last at most two days. Now, thanks to the three strength boost cards, his strength and endurance were much better than before, and he could hold on a little longer.
“I’ll work on this construction site for about ten days, save three or four thousand yuan, and then I won’t have to come out and do this kind of work again.”
