Transmigrating to the Beastman Continent to Live a Happy Life - Chapter 149
While Le was under house arrest, Bin and Xiao Kai visited his home to know the reasons behind his actions. After hearing Bin and Xiao Kai’s account, Wu Xiaoyin was speechless. It turned out to be mere jealousy. Le couldn’t stand the thought of others being better off than him. What a ridiculous reason!
Le had put medicine in Xin’s rice bowl because he couldn’t bear to see him still mantain a trace of rationality while still liking Lei Lu. Le’s goal was to crush that last bit of reason, simply because he liked Kos so much that he had lost all rationality.
He had given medicine to Lian to help him seduce Lei Lu because he felt unhappy with not receiving Kos’s smile, embrace, or kiss. Why should Wu Xiaoyin get them? So he destroyed the love between Xiao Xiao and Lei Lu because he could not get the love he wanted.
When he slipped the drug into Kos’s bowl, Xiao Kai, who was finally smart for once, swapped the bowls. Le’s reasoning for doing this was that he wanted to possess Kos. Even if he couldn’t win Kos’s heart, he wanted to get Kos’s body. Just having him by his side, everything was possible.
As Bin and Xiao Kai left, Le was still shouting at the top of his lungs, “Why can’t I have what I want? Why am I always denied?”
He completely ignored his father and dad, who were both in tears and angry with his behavior. People are often like this. They fail to appreciate what they have and only yearn for what they don’t. There is nothing wrong to have ambition, but they are unaware of the balance between their strength and their ambition.
In the end, this did not affect Xiao Kai and Kos’s pairing. Watching the stupid smiles on their faces made Wu Xiaoyin’s lips curl up in a smile. Seeing the red wedding attire with cotton cloth, Wu Xiaoyin thought to himself, my idea had truly shone through. Xiao Kai was now the standout among all the newly paired couples. Look at how happy he was!
Not far away, Xin watched Le seethe with anger and thought of something. His eyes drifted to the tall figure beside him, the smile in his eyes slowly faded.
Finally, the pairing ceremony ended successfully. Before the evening bonfire event, Kos and Xiao Kai had vanished. Wu Xiaoyin thought it was a bit hasty of them, but a glance at Lei Lu’s fiery eyes made him shrink back. He rubbed his round belly and felt grateful for his little ones, otherwise he would be just be left to stew in his own worries without them.
However, as the days of his pregnancy dragged on, the fire in Lei Lu’s eyes began to fade until it was completely extinguished.
After examining him, Priest Luo noted that the cubs wanted to stay inside their dad’s belly longer and were unwilling to come out. There was no other explanation aside from this. The cubs were healthy and everything was within normal conditions.
Then came the first snowfall, and finally the little ones began knocking on Wu Xiaoyin’s belly to announce their arrival!
Wu Xiaoyin cradled his belly and saw Lei Lu’s nervousness. He kept reassuring him, “It’s okay, it’s okay…”
It was unclear whether he was comforting him or himself to ease the tension. Wu Xiaoyin’s dry lips could barely make a sound as he followed the priest’s instructions, exerting effort when needed and resting to conserve his last bit of strength for the birth of his babies.
Eventually, when Wu Xiaoyin became numb to the pain and felt cold and stiff, the first baby was finally born, followed by the second and third with much more ease.
By the side, Xi, Hen, and Xiao Kai each held a cub. Their hearts were trembling with joy at the sight of fluffy little ones. However, seeing the now unconscious Wu Xiaoyin made their hearts sink. Their excitement turned into silence.
Lei Lu watched Xiao Xiao intently, his voice hoarse as he asked the priest, “Uncle Luo, how is Xiao Xiao? Xiao Xiao is alright, right? He’s just sleeping, isn’t he?”
Lei Lu didn’t dare to check for Xiao Xiao’s breathing. He was holding onto the belief that he was merely asleep, and he asked the priest.
After a thorough examination, Luo found no signs of bleeding. Xiao Xiao was simply exhausted. He comforted Lei Lu, “It’s nothing serious. Xiao Xiao is just exhausted and fell asleep. He will wake up soon. You need to take good care of him in the future, Lei Lu. If you do, he’ll recover well, and you both will grow old together.”
Lei Lu bowed his head and gave a heavy nod. Then, the priest and the others took the cubs to clean and feed them.
Left alone, Lei Lu wiped his tears away and quietly cleaned Xiao Xiao’s body. He wrapped him in a clean blanket and placed him on the soft couch beside the bed. He replaced the animal skins on the bed with clean and warm ones, put Xiao Xiao on the bed, then lay down beside him, holding him tightly with the blanket. Resting his head on Xiao Xiao’s shoulder, he lay quietly. The only sounds left in the room were the soft echoes of his suppressed tears. Only beastmen with keen senses could hear these suppressed sounds.
