Transmigrating to the Beastman Continent to Live a Happy Life - Chapter 122
This was Wu Xiaoyin’s third cold season after coming here on the Beastman Continent. His expectations had shifted from simply wanting to see heavy snowfall to hoping to do something during the snowy days.
Wu Xiaoyin counted on his fingers and thought about snowball fights, building snowmen, well… childish.
Skiing, ice skating, this… Wu Xiaoyin glanced over at Lei Lu, who was making breakfast nearby, and skipped that thought.
Winter fishing, hmm… sounds nice, but looking down at his reality of being stuck in bed, he compromised.
Making clothes, quilts… no interest.
In short, Wu Xiaoyin was in a state of an active mind but his body was extremely “paralyzed” and unwilling to move. He racked his brain to think of an exercise that could stimulate his mind and body while lying in bed.
Don’t get the wrong idea, just pure and simple exercise.
Otherwise, he could make playing cards or mahjong or something similar, but that would be indulging in distractions!
After wasting a bunch of brain cells, he felt as though his thoughts had turned to dust, gently blown away and disappearing without a trace.
Well, after wasting so much time, he had nothing to show for it!
It wasn’t until Lei Lu carried him to breakfast that he finally thought of something to pass the time. That was to direct Lei Lu to take out his model and make a baby stroller according to the proportions on the animal skin scroll.
This reminded him of Bin and Feng’s baby, Kola. Ever since Kola learned about “competing for favor”, he often clung to Bin and refused to move. Even when Feng set Kola down, he would crawl back up Bin’s legs into his arms. Normally it was fine, but as Kola grew, his small body gradually became taller. Now, he reached Bin’s knees. Carrying him had become quite a challenge for Bin. Wu Xiaoyin thought that during next year’s growth season, Bin would be collecting fruits and wild vegetables. It wouldn’t be good to leave Kola at home or with someone else. So he thought of making a baby stroller, which would serve two purposes.
Of course, Lei Lu would do whatever Xiao Xiao asked him to do. However, he also had his own little thoughts. By making this initial version of the stroller, he could see areas for improvement. When it came time to make a stroller for their own cub, it would be even better.
However, thinking about Xiao Xiao’s consistently light weight made Lei Lu stop his fantasies about having a cub. The most important thing was to ensure Xiao Xiao stayed healthy.
But that didn’t mean Lei Lu gave up on the idea. Throughout the entire cold season, he persuaded Xiao Xiao to prepare various baby items suitable for infants, including cribs, rockers, strollers, walkers, wooden horses, wind chimes, and rattles.
Soon, the cold season passed with Wu Xiaoyin and Lei Lu teaching and learning from each other. However, the food in their home finally ran out after the long cold season. If the upcoming hot season would be as hot as last year, Lei Lu couldn’t guarantee he could keep Xiao Xiao plump and healthy. Looking at Xiao Xiao’s little face which was still smaller than his palm, Lei Lu’s confidence deflated like a punctured balloon for the first time.
The growth season came a month later than usual, but unlike last year, the signs of the growth season didn’t hit them suddenly. During the first month, Wu Xiaoyin was still stuck at home and couldn’t see the changes outside. So, once the weather warmed up, he immediately pulled Lei Lu to find Xiao Kai and the other three. Oh, now they had to include little Kola, making it a total of five of them going out to enjoy spring!
Feeling the vibrant energy of the growth season, some herbivores at the forest’s edge grazed leisurely, seemingly unaffected by the drought or the cold, still carefree and relaxed.
Wu Xiaoyin breathed in the exceptionally fresh air of the forest and watched the trees gradually being tinted green, thinking that this year’s growth season might turn out better than he expected.
“Xiao Xiao, the stroller you had Lei Lu make is really useful. At least now I don’t have to carry Kola all the time. At his current weight, if I kept carrying him around, my arms would be useless,” Bin said, his voice cheerful and filled with gratitude.
“Just let the cub walk by himself. You’re just too soft-hearted. You know, overindulging a cub won’t be good for the future.” Feng lectured Bin with an air of righteousness.
Wu Xiaoyin smiled at the now more outgoing Feng and Bin since having a cub. He happily listened to their discussions and clashes of parenting philosophies.
Xiao Kai leaned over to Wu Xiaoyin and said with a loss expression, “Ever since Bin and Feng became a pair, especially after Kola was born, he doesn’t play with us anymore. Sometimes when I ask Bin to hang out, he doesn’t have time. Now I can only play with you, Xiao Xiao.”
Wu Xiaoyin chuckled and said, “You’re jealous of a cub now? You’re regressing. You don’t even realize how everything revolves around the cub. Wait until you have your own cubs with Kos.”
Xiao Kai pouted and said, “No way. I’m not going to become some child slave like you say. I want to go out and see the world, not be stuck at home all day.”
After saying this, Xiao Kai bounced ahead and turned back to urge Xiao Xiao to speed up. The group quickly reached the riverside and began their annual spring outing!
