Transmigrating to the Beastman Continent to Live a Happy Life - Chapter 118
However, Wu Xiaoyin underestimated his inner fears. Reality is always harsher than imagination.
As the second month of the hot season began, the entire tribe was busy stockpiling water, for fear of repeating the last hot season’s problems with flooding and continuous heavy rain and contamination.
Wu Xiaoyin wasn’t allowed to help at home, but he couldn’t sit still. He thought about what he could make, like models of baby cribs, rockers, toy horses, and maracas to gift to the soon-to-be-born baby.
After finishing the last crib model, just as he was feeling accomplished, Xiao Kai rushed in, shouting, “It’s time to give birth. It’s time to give birth!”
Wu Xiaoyin looked up at the panting Xiao Kai and asked, “What’s giving birth? Be clear! It’s not Bin, is it?”
Xiao Kai nodded vigorously. “Yes, I was just about to take Bin some of the flower tea I dried, but before I could say much, Bin started having pains in his stomach. I was so shocked. Luckily, Feng was calm and sent Kos to call the priest. I thought of coming to find you, maybe we can help.”
Hearing this, Wu Xiaoyin grabbed Xiao Kai and headed to Bin’s house, saying, “We need to prepare hot water, stone scissors or stone knives, and light gauze. All of these will be useful when the time comes.”
They quickly arrived at Bin’s house and were surprised to see the priest holding a gray baby tiger cub. Wu Xiaoyin and Xiao Kai were so stunned that they remained on the spot.
After the priest cleaned the cub, he lifted his head and saw the two people’s dazed expressions. He asked curiously, “What are you two doing standing at the door like a fool? Come see the cub. I need to check on Bin.”
The two instinctively nodded and looked at the cub, their eyes filled with amazement. But as the priest went to the bedroom, they were left without anyone to explain things. The two of them could only stare at the cub without blinking, afraid to miss anything.
Lei Lu returned from hunting and didn’t see Xiao Xiao. Following Xiao Xiao’s scent, he came to Bin’s house and noticed the smell of blood. He hurried inside and saw Xiao Xiao staring adorably at the gray cub, his eyes wide open with surprise and delight.
“What’s going on? Are you so fascinated by the cub? If you like it, we can have more for you to play with later,” Lei Lu said and held Xiao Xiao in his arms.
Wu Xiaoyin looked up at Lei Lu and asked with doubts, “Didn’t Xiao Kai say giving birth is very painful? Does it really take a whole day? How come Bin is having a cub so quickly?”
Lei Lu replied, “I’m not sure, we can ask the priest later. By the way, there’s still Kos’s scent here. Where did he go? Why are you two the only ones here?”
Neither Wu Xiaoyin nor Xiao Kai knew where Kos had gone. They only knew that he had gone to fetch the priest to assist Bin. But by the time they arrived, Kos was nowhere to be seen.
Just then, the priest emerged from the bedroom and said, “I sent Kos to catch a tender giant pig cub. We’ll make stew for Bin to help him recover faster.”
Wu Xiaoyin thought of the pig’s trotter and yellow bean soup, which was quite a peculiar dish!
However, newly born cubs typically drink juice from giant pink fruit here, and now they could also have honey water, rice porridge, and rice soup. Wu Xiaoyin felt relieved. Firstly, it was for the cub’s food supply, and secondly, it was for his own values. He couldn’t be too negative, right? Ha ha!
“Can we go see Bin now? How is he doing?” Wu Xiaoyin asked worriedly.
Uncle Luo inspected the cub in his arms closely. “Bin is fine. He’s healthy but a bit tired. He’s already asleep, so you shouldn’t go in and wake him.”
So, Wu Xiaoyin, Bin and Lei Lu waited for Kos to return with the giant pig cub and prepared it together. Then the four of them left Bin’s house to solve dinner at Lei Lu and Wu Xiaoyin’s home.
After the tense situation with Bin’s delivery, once they relaxed, their stomachs began to rumble. Xiao Kai and Kos held hands and went to Lei Lu and Wu Xiaoyin’s house for a meal.
Thus, the hot season passed amid everyone’s high tension. Aside from the temperature soaring to 35°C, it went by peacefully.
However, in such hot weather, even wearing light gauze felt uncomfortable. Some tribe members were still in animal skins. A few even fainted from heatstroke and were carried to the priest. Thankfully, there were no serious issues, but most who fainted were females and cubs, causing the males to panic.
Wu Xiaoyin decided he had to find cotton or linen this year. Looking at the materials for light gauze, it seemed more oriented toward cotton. So during the harvest season, Wu Xiaoyin set a goal for himself—cotton.
