Xiao Kai immediately agreed at the mention of more delicious food. Bin thought it would be nice to gather during this free time. Plus, he could learn a few cooking tips to impress his dad and Feng, so he happily agreed as well.

Thus, the coolie Lei Lu set to work. After pulling up several bamboo shoots by hand, he gathered some giant ginger and giant spicy fruit for seasoning. He then returned home to start preparing dinner.

Wu Xiaoyin felt a bit overwhelmed by the large bamboo shoots, which were almost taller than him. Seeing Xiao Xiao frown, Lei Lu quickly took the knife and skillfully chopped the bamboo shoots. Then Wu Xiaoyin process them into bite-sized pieces.

He also made several other dishes. Bamboo shoot soup, three fresh vegetables, stir-fried bamboo shoots with pork, and a signature roasted whole lamb with his secret sauce. These dishes were all placed on the stone table in the living room. By the end of the meal, everyone had eaten their fill. Kos and Feng left with bags of dried fruit and sauerkraut Wu Xiaoyin had prepared for them.

When Wu Xiaoyin discovered the giant bamboo shoots, he asked Lei Lu to inform the tribe chief that he had found another edible wild vegetable that could be stored in large quantities. Thus, during this gathering day, the females focused on gathering bamboo shoots among other wild vegetables and fruits.

Xiao Kai’s enthusiastic praise about the deliciousness of the giant bamboo shoots spread throughout the tribe, giving everyone hope for a new food source that could be stored long-term. Most of the bamboo shoots were harvested, with only a portion left for herbivores and to ensure the bamboo forest could thrive.

Soon, the square of the tribe was again filled with various wild vegetables and fruits drying in the sun. This made Wu Xiaoyin sigh again at the simplicity and kindness of the Beastman Continent. Such unity was rare back on Earth!

As everyone busily collected and hunted, days flew by before Wu Xiaoyin realized the sun was getting hotter each day. It was only then that he truly understood what the hottest season in a hundred years would feel like.

Last year during the hot season, the highest temperature reached only 30 degrees Celsius. It was thanks to the lush vegetation covering the whole land of Beastman Continent, especially the Giant Tiger Tribe which was located relatively further north. Although they experienced a bit discomfort during the hottest time, they could still manage without being confined indoors, at least for the females and cubs.

Now just the first month of hot season was already feeling like the peak of heat, with temperature steadily rising. Life was likely even tougher in the southern tribes like the Giant Bear Tribe, Giant Fox Tribe, and Giant Snake Tribe!

Wu Xiaoyin now only dared to venture out at night to cool off. Oddly enough, although the current temperature was more bearable compared to the scorching heat of 40 degrees Celsius he experienced on Earth, the humidity in the Beastman Continent made it feel stifling.

It was a classic case of pros and cons!

Even though Wu Xiaoyin was relieved from the busyness of the growth season, with the basement and storage filled with food, the more pressing issue was water storage. The stone jars and pots weren’t ideal for holding water, so he needed to make pottery. Having witnessed villagers making pottery during his travels, Wu Xiaoyin knew the theory but putting it into practice was another matter entirely.

Most importantly, he needed to find the raw materials—clay.
