Let me know what you think! Rate and comment if you liked it, otherwise, no worries."

Two childish people.

Even something like whether they like each other has to be like children fighting; if you touch me, I’ll hit you back. It’s all about not wanting to lose.

But in relationships, is there ever perfect equality?

Older people say that suffering is a blessing, but Bian Yingning disagrees. She doesn’t want to suffer, and she doesn’t want Shang Qinghui to suffer. That’s why she did all this.

Bian Yingning finally looked up from the floor at Shang Qinghui.

As soon as the words left Shang Qinghui’s mouth, she regretted it. She bit her lip, feeling her face getting hotter; her hands were unconsciously clutching her skirt.

What had she said? Her impulsiveness had left her feeling embarrassed and tormented.

In the quiet space, her heart pounded; she wondered if Bian Yingning would laugh at her, calling her self-absorbed and narcissistic, just as she had mocked Bian Yingning earlier.

Shang Qinghui anxiously waited for Bian Yingning’s response, but she got nothing. Looking at Bian Yingning, she noticed that Bian Yingning was staring at her, making her heart tremble.

Looking closer, she realized Bian Yingning was staring blankly—she had zoned out while Shang Qinghui was asking her a question?!

What was she thinking about?

Why was she thinking about it now?

Couldn’t she show some respect? Wasn’t this, in a way, a confession?

Although it wasn’t entirely sincere, thinking about being ignored during past confessions, Shang Qinghui got angry.

“Bian Yingning! Are you deaf?”

Her loud shout startled Bian Yingning.

…

Because of Shang Qinghui’s words, Bian Yingning was trapped in endless worries, feeling lost and burning with anxiety.

Yet, because of Shang Qinghui’s words, she was pulled back from the abyss to warmth.

She couldn’t forget that Shang Qinghui and she were masters at ruining the moment!

“Drink less; eat more vegetables.”

Bian Yingning said this, turned, opened the restroom door, and left.

Shang Qinghui stared at the door opening and closing, her mind unable to process what had happened.

What? That’s it?

What happened…?

Bian Yingning was startled back to reality by Shang Qinghui’s shout, then told to drink less, and then… she left? Was she being sarcastic?

To Shang Qinghui, Bian Yingning, who seemed indifferent, ran out of the restroom as soon as she closed the door, as if someone was chasing her.

Only after getting into her car did Bian Yingning breathe a sigh of relief.

Shang Qinghui had said… what if she liked her…

Part of her reasoned that Shang Qinghui’s words weren’t sincere; she was probably just provoking her. But a little voice in her heart was dancing.

Would she like her? Even if she didn’t remember her, would she like her simply because of who she was?

Bian Yingning knew it was foolish to use her remaining points to make Shang Qinghui forget about her, to make others forget their entanglement; it was self-torture. But she didn’t want Shang Qinghui to suffer.

In the original story, had Shang Qinghui ever liked me?

Everything she did for Shang Qinghui was voluntary; she didn’t expect anything in return.

But Shang Qinghui wouldn’t think that way. She would feel indebted, that her feelings weren’t genuine, only stemming from guilt, gratitude, and obligation.

In this life, when she approached Shang Qinghui, it wasn’t because of her; it was to complete the system’s mission.

Her actions weren’t based on her own desires. She was like a zombie. Her initial intentions weren’t pure; Shang Qinghui didn’t like the real her. She wasn’t herself.

She used the points to let Shang Qinghui live a good life. Like everyone else in the ordinary world, coming into this world cleanly, without burdens, living only for herself, doing what she wanted.

Without remembering past grudges or feeling indebted. When she pulled Nangong Jin into the sea, their past entanglements were over.

She used the points to give Shang Qinghui a simple life.

But why didn’t she erase her own memories?

Bian Yingning looked at the night sky. The weather had been erratic; it wasn’t as cold these days; the snow was melting; the world was returning to its original state. She felt lonely carrying these memories, but she could endure it.

She knew she should distance herself from Shang Qinghui. But she… couldn’t bear to.

It was funny. She did everything, and she was the one suffering.

She was in a dead end; she knew, but she didn’t want to leave. She had walked into it herself.

…

“Thump——”

Shang Qinghui, lost in thought, was startled by a sudden sound, “What was that?!”

She turned to see two stalls; one door was slightly ajar; the other was closed. A phone lay on the floor beneath the closed door.

…

The sound must have been the phone falling. Was someone else in the restroom? She hadn’t noticed; she only saw one person leave.

Shang Qinghui went to the door and picked up the phone. It was expensive, with many small diamonds on the back; it felt rough against her skin, like Wang Yu’s phone.

Wang Yu…

Shang Qinghui turned the phone over; the screen was still on; it showed their group chat. Several messages had just been sent:

“Where are you?! Where’s Qinghui?! Find her!”

“She might be drunk!”

“Hurry!”

The multiple exclamation marks showed the sender’s panic.

She was clever; she didn’t say she was looking for Shang Qinghui in the restroom, fearing people would guess.

But because Shang Qinghui and Bian Yingning were there, she couldn’t leave and overheard things she shouldn’t have.

Thinking of words like “murder” and “destroy evidence,” Wang Yu could only subtly ask for help. She muted her phone but forgot to hold it steady.

The restroom fell silent. There were restrooms everywhere in the hotel; Shang Qinghui had chosen a distant one to wash her hands; few people came here.

“Are you not coming out?” Shang Qinghui’s calm voice echoed.

After a while, Wang Yu slowly opened the door.

“Wow!” Only her head was visible; she looked shocked, “Qinghui, what are you doing here?!”

“I came here to rest and fell asleep; the phone falling woke me up.”

Wang Yu lied smoothly; her toes, hidden behind the door, were curled.

Shang Qinghui sneered, “And the phone fell and sent messages to our group chat?”

“Ah?” Wang Yu looked puzzled; her composure was faltering, “How? What did it say? Was it cursing?”

“Of course not,” Shang Qinghui handed her the phone, “Your phone remembered to worry about me.”

Wang Yu took the phone. Thoughts flooded her mind; after hearing what she shouldn’t have, would she see tomorrow’s sun?

She hadn’t expected Shang Qinghui and Bian Yingning to be flirting here. And they didn’t even clear the room.

The “I like you, you like me” talk—so narcissistic. And Shang Qinghui’s outburst—the women around Bian Yingning outspending her… a jealous wife’s dialogue.’ ‘

Their personas had completely crumbled.

She felt innocent.

“You heard everything?” Shang Qinghui leaned against the wall, subtly blocking Wang Yu from escaping.

Wang Yu took a deep breath, nodding forcefully. Without waiting for Shang Qinghui to react, she said, “I can’t believe it!”

Shang Qinghui looked at her expressionlessly. Although Shang Qinghui looked cute, her cold gaze was intimidating.

But Wang Yu, having spent time with her, was somewhat immune. Under pressure, she said smoothly, “I can’t believe Bian Yingning likes you!”

“She likes that type.”

Shang Qinghui blinked, then looked at her intently, “What do you mean?”

Wang Yu frowned, as if she couldn’t understand why Shang Qinghui didn’t get it, “Didn’t you ask her if she liked you?”

…

“There’s a saying, ‘No answer is an answer.’”

…

“She didn’t answer you; she hesitated; what was she doing? Thinking! Why? Because she’s unsure of her feelings!”

Wang Yu didn’t mention Shang Qinghui’s words, analyzing Bian Yingning’s behavior to distract Shang Qinghui from her own actions.

“During that silence, she probably replayed your encounter.”

“Her hesitation was a disguise; the disguise is the answer,” Wang Yu said mysteriously.

Shang Qinghui pondered.

“She definitely likes you,” Wang Yu concluded.

Shang Qinghui tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, a subtle smile playing on her lips, “Is there anyone who doesn’t like me?”

Wang Yu: “…”

Not likely.

Shang Qinghui finally moved away from Wang Yu, picking up her mask, saying as she left, “Your’e paying for next week’s shopping.”

Wang Yu, thinking she had escaped, felt despair: “!”

They had planned a shopping trip to Paris next week to buy new clothes for the New Year.
